Spartacus Board Game Review - Still Worth It?

I love this game so damn much! 💪😀 It surprised the hell out of me.. I love the show and this game actually feels exactly like the first 2 seasons instead of being a cheap cash in on the shows name. Amazing game and I will always play this game. ✊😊

Definitely worth it! For me, it's the game my non-gamer friends like. There's no other game that gives the same experience. I totally agree with Statham, though: You have to agree at the beginning of the game to slug it out in the arena.

This game is brutal, It's not a friendship maker, I have everything printed for it, and the 4 man vs. is so much more intense, The least loved part is "the arena" if people just run around you in circles, or people try to not do damage. We have a "draw, die" -rule, and if this one starts counting down, there is the odd chance both gladiators will die when it's thumb time, regardless of hits. We experimented with a "random event chart" like the ones in Blood Bowl, so if the match ends in a draw, a dice is rolled, (from memory so the numbers might be off) a d10 is rolled. on 1-4 the Draw is just a draw, on a 5-9 the emperor decides if he want's to kill 1 or 2, and who. and on the dreaded 10 the arena goes amok, murders both gladiators, and the all the money bet, it lost. All of this just to avoid people making a boring fight. :) the rest of the game can draw out, and can take some time, but once people get a hang on the rules it' flows well :D - a lot of backstabbing going about :D

I love it too. A really good time, unless you get railroaded early on. Can be a bit difficult to get back in then. I love the combat too. I don't think you mentioned the betting which (particularly when coupled with some of the shittier intrigue cards) leads to some hilarious falls from grace in the arena.
