The North Carolina along with Massachusetts, Alabama, And Texas, are the only WWII era battleships still with their original configuration. Unlike the Iowa’s which got a helicopter pad, and Tomahawk cruise missiles. The Alabama is in Mobile, Alabama. The Texas is in La Porte, Texas, which is pretty close to the Lexington (CV-16). The Massachusetts is in Fall River, Massachusetts.The North Carolina can be visited at its museum in Wilmington, North Carolina.

We go to the Alabama every year for boy scouts (we actually sleep on the barracks of the ship). I strongly encourage anyone togo there if they are remotely close to Mobile Bay. There is also a submarine (USS Drum) that you can go through, which is super cool and ground and air museum. It is a great place to spend a full day.

I actually got to go see the North Carolina a few years back and she was a magnificent ship. Got to climb into one of the main batteries and it was just so cool. Very nice people too, great museum would recommend!

North Carolina is incredible, especially in the Arena. ….as long as you’re not playing against fire starters then you’re screwed. Had literally three on the opposite team and I burned literally in two minutes. Can’t do anything at all. Pretty bad against that type of thing. Also Atlanta was literally 8 miles away, behind a tiny island, but I couldn’t spot it, and it was just wrecking me with fires. Balance for ya right there.

Interesting fact about North Carolina's Sister ship, USS Washington was she sunk Battleship Kirishima (Kongo-Class) at the battle of Guadalcanal. Kirishima had engaged USS South Dakota (Alabama and Massachusetts sister ship), badly damaging her and Washington moved in and crippled Kirishima, she also ran off Atago & Takao. Captain Glenn Davis was awarded the Navy Cross for his command of Washington during the battle, Captain of the South Dakota was Willis Lee.

Lets clean this up a bit. Adm. "Ching" Lee was task force commander. His flag was on Washington. Washington's commander was Capt. Glenn Davis. SoDak's commander was Capt. Thomas Gatch. SoDak took extensive superficial damage early in the engagement, rendering her combat ineffective. Washington took Kirishima under fire and annihilated--and that is the word for what happened--her with about 20 main battery hits in less than 20 minutes.

One of Kirishima's damage control officers did survive--this is where more modern accounts of what actually happened to Kirishima come from--and his reaction could probably best be summed up as horrified.

I generally like this ship, a little squishy, she needs a little extra lead as she really lobs shells which has pros and cons, all that lob can surprise enemies by getting over islands, and pretty accurate. I like her long to medium range. In a straight up close range slugging match she can be a little questionable. One thing I like about her over Iowa is she can steer herself out of trouble more often. I've dodged a surprising number of torps in this ship.

Fun Fact: the nickname "Show Boat " was given to the north carolina because she was always coming up and down the Panama Canal and people often remarked that she was showing off.

I got the Nevada and Tennesee literally 3 weeks after I started the game. It took casually playing for 2 months to get to the Kansas. Easiest grind ever. NC seems to be the rockstar of the line.

North Carolina agreed didn't have as a decorated battle record as her sister, she still played a big role in some major battles. It would be nice to see Washington though, maybe she could be a t7 campaign ship

@@thebiggerb4915 The Showboat had more battle stars. Both ships had very distinguished records. She was first laid down and first launched, so North Carolina class. I doubt we'll see Washington in the game. The ships were about as close to identical as sister ships get and were difficult to tell apart--the sky walk on North Carolina's foremast being about the only readily apparent physical difference. They're the same ship for all practical purposes.

Interesting. On PC, this ship is a beast. 27km range and decent accuracy at range, with the right perks. I can usually hit the enemy at their spawn if a friendly CV spots for me.

Hey there Spartan, I am your Scharnhorst. You are of course correct - I was basically out of play for a while, due to the starboard turn in the beginning. Awful to see, what that one turn means for a BB. Not the best judgement on my part - and I will happily accept the extra salt ration. At least things got better from there on. Good game on you, though! Didn't recognize you until the end screen.

Personally, I got lucky with my 1st crate giving me N.C right off the bat and... I definitely have to say. I love some of my certain Battleships. Like Kongō, WV, Bayern.. . Then there's t6 with N.C , Gneißenau. But N.C is fun. Light cruisers with 19 and heavy with 25 Front Armor Plating. If aimed correctly with, the N.C is deadly. Even against T7. Aim deck level, with your shell arcs. Sometimes shells ricochet down into the citadel. If you have patience

Man, the NC is almost OP at tier 6. Almost…. It seems like some T5 and T6 BBs are good at deleting cruisers but not as good at dueling other BBs, and others are great at punching BBs but overpen a lot of CLs and some CAs. NC is the best at both for her tier. Maybe the squishiness and lesser torp reduction is a balance, but she moves well (even with upgraded Sims) and the armor is perfectly adequate. She’s not as easy to angle as Colorado, but definitely easier to protect than Nelson.

Thing I always liked about NC was she was part of the most succesful torpedo spread in history, the I19 fired four or six torpedoes, two hit the Wasp, which sank. One hit the NC which needed a month for repairs, and the Destroyer O'Brien took one which ended up sinking also. Also the NC was not the immediate predecessor for the Iowa, there was The South Dakota class it was between the NC and Iowa. Also, I never could figure out people who dismiss classes, I mean I get that there are ships that don't work with a given persons play style, that doesn't make it a bad ship. You have to be careful with US BBs and Cruisers, you demostrated that nicely with the Helena in the video, but properally used and they are some of the most powerful in the game.

You have to buy them or occasionally some of the free crates may drop a few doubloons but pretty rare

honestly I'm not big fan with NC I think it's not a good ship but not bad either ... the guns are mega trolly when it comes to long range shots sometimes close proximity situations the AA is just fantastic from carrier harassment armor isn't great but can bounce on angles this isn't recommended for new players so defo stay other BBs and support them with your AA and punchy 406mm MK6 guns but biggest debate im seeing NC listed as Best BB of tier 6 statistically...honestly that more a opinion but defo say defo top 3 with sinop and KGV

I was actually incredibly disappointed about her. I was so looking forward to getting her, but she is a snail. Turrets take forever to turn, she is sluggish in manouvering … and her guns are not that accurate. From the comments here I can see I’m outnumbered in opinion. Maybe she just doesn’t fit my playing style. But I don’t like her. Whoch is a bummer … cuz I was really looking forward to getting her. 🥺

I love the NC, but at first I played her like I normally played my Colorado or my new mexico or my Arizona so when I got almost dev struck from full health by a Colorado, needless to say I boycotted the ship for a bit

Yeah, that's one of the things that's a little messed up with the American tech tree. NC and Colorado seemed to be swapped. The top tech tree seems to be evolving towards "fast battleships" culminating in Iowa and the lower towards "standard battleships" culminating in Kansas (or Montania) with different playstyles. It pretty jarring going from Colorado to Iowa and NC to Kansas.
