In the summer, I use a 1974 Torcan box fan in the window overnight, and I open all the other windows in the house. In the morning, I turn it off, and close the windows and curtains. The house stays so cool all day, a few people actually thought I had air conditioning!
@rueagonvyceratops28799 жыл бұрын
Nothing better then the old school metal bladded fans. i have a high valisity brand from walmart . and its been working great since i have had it now. even on low it chucks out the air great. and the metal blades makes it better.

I like the fan guards on both sides of the fan blades. My mothers house has a fan that is so old that there is no fan guard on the back side of the unit. Real old skool.

This looks like a great fan. Years ago, my Grandma had a Robbins & Meyers whole house window fan, and that thing was awesome. I had it up till about 10 years ago when it finally bit the dust!

Great fan, great show..in the late fifties we had a beautiful grey reversible window fan in my parents bedroom window..The buttons were all up front in the middle and different colors. off,on,low med,high and in,out..The best thing was the low speed. It was silent and I could almost see the blade going around... The blades were square shaped and I've got a picture of it from the yard..Looks cool! Love the bunny costume!

Not for operation, but just because it is a window fan. The motor is out away from the outside in the case if it rains, etc.

What a cool fan, and I love that sound! I have a vintage 1960 Silver-Aire window exhaust fan that started out as my grandfather's, before he moved back to Missouri in 1965, leaving it with my parents. The motor is from Universal Electric, and it's bi-directional two-speed 20" model. My AC died today, and I got it out of the outdoor storage shed after not being used for 24 years, and it started right up. I gave the bearings some 4-1 oil and it's running like a Swiss watch.
@spatsbear12 жыл бұрын
The only time I turn the AC on it when the humidity and temperature get past a certain point, and that usually doesn't happen till about the end of June.
@spatsbear11 жыл бұрын
It is about the same if not just slightly louder than a normal, good box fan on high. Medium and low may be suitable for your needs, as it is quite quiet on those speeds. It is built quite well. We contacted the manufacturer, and it is made in the USA.

That thing has some kick ass start up sounds!

Thanks, this was whimsical and a change of pace. I was looking for reviews of a fan I bought, and stumbled across this video because it's another fan by the same brand. (The changeover to the 'bear' persona would be nicely accompanied by some full-on corny performance art, like "Even bears need fans too. You ever try wearing a heavy coat in the summertime? What about one you can't take off? Welcome to my world.")

Oh yes, I can do that too, but it will only last till about 2pm as after that, the front of my house faces West and just gets blasted with sunlight as I have no shade. It gets pretty hot after that.

Last year, I went to Rona since I wanted a good quality fan; so I got a Honeywell Commercial HV-141 (by Kaz), but I was lucky to get one when I did because they only had 2 left and they no longer seem to have stock now. It cost me $103, but for the price, I got a metal, powerful, good quality product. It's powerful enough to feel a rather strong draft being pulled in from the window on LOW speed; no other fan I had did that good even on HIGH speed.
@spatsbear12 жыл бұрын
I do like that Goldstar version as well. They still make the 16" plastic bladed version of that fan as well, and funny enough you can get that exact same fan as either an Air King or a Lasko. Only difference I see is the name plate and the Air King has a grounded cordset (plus the Air King might have a better motor as well.)
@Trance8812 жыл бұрын
It's like you have to buy true "commercial grade" to get anything of decent quality these days. That's one beast of a fan. Nice find.
@spatsbear12 жыл бұрын
This "commercial grade" fan is built just about the same as my residential/consumer grade Lakewood in the video from about 10 years prior. Though I like how this one has a sealed ball bearing motor on it. It'll be decades before it'll need re-greased.

I Know it was a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for and not much is cheap these days. I try to get by in the summer staying cool using fans for as long as I can but with the high humidity we get here I always break down and use the air conditioning because im afraid if the house gets too humid we will get mold. Nice buy!
@KingdomUploader4 ай бұрын
What they have today is the Air King 9166'F'. Seriously doubtful that it will perform as well as yours. Any ideas on that? You could do a comparison video? well assuming yours is still kickin. Had to ask before i buy today's version of yesteryear. Cheers
@spatsbear12 жыл бұрын
Lasko mainly had to do that due to a lawsuit because of their cheap Wal*Mart grade box fans that caught fire. Probably never got close to the circuit breaker rating, but was enough current to catch the motor on fire.

I don't understand why there are no videos on how to install these window fans in a window? There are different types of windows...casement, verticle slider windows, etc... Why are there no installation videos???? I want to install a window fan, but for obvious security reasons, be able to close the window when I'm at work. Can you do this with this type of fan or is this installed like a window air conditioner where the placement is permanent and you risk home break-in?

This thing looks like its built well, how loud is this fan on full speed? I want to get one for the house, however the window I plan on using it on is on the stairs (midway) between the kitchen on living room area, and I think I'm going to need a quieter fan if I put it there.

Sorry my question wasn't clear. how do you take out panels for small windows? I'm talking about the round half moon shaped popouts on the slide panel. Did you use aviation shears, a hammer or what. I noticed when you took the fan out of box the circular panels we not removed, but when you tested it at the end if the video they were removed. I'm asking because I don't want to screw up the fan.

I like high-speed sometimes especially when I wanna drown offender or people talking in the house because it’s loud but when I’m trying to sleep I’d prefer a low-speed like belt drive fan or a direct drive either deep pitch made that way or a fan that had the pitch of the metal blade vintage box fans but Modified. Sorry there’s not much punctuation I was in the middle of typing this with my voice and I kind of forgot because I was so focused on packing it plus I mainly want to talk about it and have the joy of talking about it and not have to worry about c modified. It's like watching a train crash you just can turn away. On another note apparently people these days are obviously too damn sensitive . The video was very informative in regards to the fan. Upon further thought something tells me that this review is for people with in the furry community that don't want to overheat in their costumes. So is this a bad video no but stumbling onto it while looking for fan fucking hilarious and unexpected. It really seems these days people just sower the internet looking to be offended. My comment was almost I think two years ago and someone took the time to go through all of the comments to pin point mine and become outraged. Get a life and furry dude never keep making videos they are very informative.

It's a nice fan. But when you think about it, it isn't any amazing piece of technology. It's simply a well built good quality fan. In this day and age, with so much cheap Chinese junk flooding the market, and the quality brands dying on the vine (or already dead), I can see how it's easy to get excited when one finds a quality product here and there. I would buy this fan myself, but I only live in an apartment and this one is too big for the window I want to put it in. I guess I could make it work, but it would be way overkill - have to keep looking.
