In my opinion, Alan-Michael Spaulding is an example of a soap character whose potential was marred by too many recasts.

I actually forget there were that many AMs. I really only think of Carl T. Evans and Rick Hearst-the first and the best.
@laminage3 жыл бұрын
Rick Hearst set The Bar so high as Alan Michael Spaulding #3 overall that it was hard for The Next Two to play him. Michael Dempsey was very good as Mark Spencer (The Real Life Son Of Clarke Garrison) on The Bold & The Beautiful.

@@tanicathornton8249 I believe AM’s first appearance as an adult was Carl T. Evans when he parachuted into the town’s Fourth of July festivities during the show’s 50th (?) Anniversary shows. It’s on KZbin somewhere.

Me too. Loved Harley and AM. My favorite was Carl T Evans Rick Hearst was good too The character did not start off as manipulative- he was part Bauer too! The last actor doesn’t even seem like Alan Micheal - thank goodness I didn’t watch the show then cause it seems like character assassination!

I always thought that the first Alan-Michael character played by Carl T. Evans was the best! He also went on to play a character on As The World Turns.

Alan-Michael Spaulding was the first soap character I became really invested in. His very first airdate (as an infant being born) was the day after I was born and somebody, it was either my mom or my gram, told me that fact, and I was FASCINATED by the fact that Carl Evans was playing a character in 1988 that was born the day after I was. I think I freaked them out by asking if I would suddenly pop into someone Carl Evans' age and they suddenly reevaluated and regretted some stuff. But then I suddenly "got" the concept of SORAS and all was right with the world again. I'm glad they didn't make me stop watching, because some of my best childhood memories are paying half-attention with my gram, and shocking her when I remembered Josh from 1989 (and before that) when he reappeared in 1993 with, "Oh, look, Josh is back! Is he staying for a little while?"

I actually liked the last Alan Michael, Michael Dempsey. He's a good actor. Sadly the writers couldn't get a grip on the character, plus their disastrous decision to pair Alan Michael with Marina, the woman he once thought was his daughter. Too creepy. I think that turned a lot of people off to him.

I had a soft spot for AM because he always had to fight for another woman's love. The only woman that loved him was Lucy Cooper. Imagine the character AM could've been if Alan showed favor to him and if he had better luck in love. I hadn't realized how much the last AM favored Rick Hearst... but didn't. 🤪

Phillip was cursed because of Alan’s favor and love . So Alan Michael was damned either way

There's an Alan Michael missing. Michael Dietz version of the character. Carl Evans, Rick Hearst and Michael Dietz all appeared on the original 90210, which is cool since Ian Ziering played Cameron on Guiding Light and was Alan Michaels best friend at one point.

If there was one thing that The Bauers had in common with The UK Soap Opera EastEnders is how they are linked to so many Families. The Bauers have either been involved with a Member Of The Spaulding/Boudreau/Cooper/Lewis & Santos Families at one time or another. On EastEnders The Beales & Fowlers are still Two Of The Main Families although most of them are dead. Ian Beale played by Adam Woodyat since the show debuted in 1985 is the Cousin of Martin Fowler whose Sister Michelle is in America and Brother Mark died of AIDS. All of The Fowler Family Members (Pauline, Her Husband Arthur Her Twin Brother Pete, are all dead as is her Mother In Law Lou Beale. For Ian, it's his Mother Kathy who had him at 16 whose the only Family Member that's still alive as well as his Half Brother Ben.
