Spawn Compendium Volume 2 Overview!

That would've been an extra 50 pages with the covers. I think McFarlane meant to put these compendiums for people to catch up reading on Spawn in a quick and cheap way. I think Todd will eventually put these out in omnibus form sometime in the future and with the covers.

There is a book called Spawn: Cover Gallery Vol. 1 with the covers for issues 1-100 for those who really wants the covers.

I’m just waiting to see a hardcover reprint or a new version. I’d love to have them on my shelf. It’s even more painful because half of the deluxe hardcovers are normal price, while the other half is outrageous.

Honestly, they should make a book that is solely the covers. So you can have your cake and eat it too. It’d just be a artbook, and who doesn’t love those 😌.

There's actually a book of the covers, I got it some weeks ago. Ithas the first 100 covers n some extras, don't know if there's more with the next 100 covers, haven't bothered to look 🤣.

Glad that McFarlane is doing these affordable compendiums for folks. I have a couple of the oversized hardcovers, really wish he'd either put those back into print (and continue them) or release some nice omnibuses. Spawn seems really popular again right now, strike while the iron's hot, Todd... take my money!

There is a separate collection that has the covers for issue 1-100. I never knew about it but someone earlier this year in one of the chats alerted me to this. It does seem weird the covers aren’t included, but you can still get them in that other collection. Hopefully another collection with covers for issue 101-200 is released.

Glad to grab this, my copy came in yesterday but I'm still reading through spawn compendium vol 1. Just didn't want to lose out like I did with fables compendium vol 1 by waiting too long to pick it up.

#76 was probably my favorite issue of the series that I read. I purchased the newsstand edition, as I couldn`t get to an LCS, which was printed on cheaper, non- glossy paper. Something Image was doing at the time. The direct market edition had better paper. Even with that the Dwayne Turner art was magnificent. I have read the issue online & the colors are much brighter than they are on the newsprint of My copy. I`m tempted to buy this for the correct colors. All the art in those issues is great though.

Omar I now want both. I have all the hardcovers so far and I would love to have those continue, but what I want above all is simply to own and have read the whole story. So whether it comes out in compendium or HC I'll take w.e I can atm.

Thank you for doing the overview of this compendium! Similar to you, I remember comics by the moment or time of life I was at... The price is excellent for the quality you get on these compendiums. Bummer the covers are missing though. I'm looking forward to the all the spawn issues coming out in the compendium format! you thinking about 6 of these eventually?

I don't think it's so much that he "refuses," but rather that he is putting inexpensive big chunks of material out there fast, so people can catch up on Spawn.

Got both for $78au each on Ebay brand new, most comic stores in Australia have them for about $110au retail price. 50 comics in book. Thats insanely cheap for what you get! Vol 3 out next month, I also have a few Origins vols. that now seem way over priced for what you get.

I read through volume 1 and have no crease in the spine, but I generally don't end up with a crease on the spine when I read paperback novels either. I wonder what will happen when I get this one.

Bruh my room has been to hot and the bindning on every singe one of my books has got lose is that easy to fix cuz im crying my eyes out its not much that has got lose its just a little part of the ribbon thing

Looking into all these new compendiums that have been dropping for some great series. Any chance on a fables volume 2 reprint? I feel like both comic companies should make soft cover variants of their omnis and refer to them as compendiums haha.

Maybe it's just me. I love flipping through the pages and seeing the Spawn artwork. But I'm just not a huge fan of Mcfarlane as a writer. Still a cheap way to collect this run. Just wish they had the covers in it.

It's not as big as the Starman Compendium, but after having read that. Trades shouldn't be any bigger than a 400 - 500 pages. My spine got creased majorly after reading and the clear plastic on the back and front had ever so slightly started to peel off.

I will not buy it. The level of disrespect Mcfarlane has for his fans is crazy. I invested in the hardcover collection and very unlikely to finish, like so many other formats he has done, always stopped midway and never finished. Hopefully he continues the other lines.

I've skipped these lazily done compendiums. Call me fussy, but I'm waiting for a proper reprint with all the covers. It's all about the art for me with this title, not necessarily the story.
