Fun Fact: Half-Life Source didn't use to be a horribly broken and buggy mess but no one has updated it over at Valve in so long that the whole thing has pretty much just disintegrated over the years. Your solution to the final boss reminds me of a nice fanfic that novelized the HL games and had Freeman finish of NIlanth by stabbing his crowbar like a sword down into the pointy bits inside his head. It was certainly more dramatically done there.
