One thing there is a difference between defective item and defects, defect does not directly refer to defective item , so if a product contain any nonconformity(defect) , it is not necessarily defective. In this case, the lesson you explained will be a real confusion why because the difference of usage terms between P/NP and C/U charts is the point whether they are about defective items fraction among the inspected items(P) and the number of defective items which make it easier to understand(NP) C Chart then is used to show the defects in the sample of products and u the defects per unit . I mean there is a big difference between what Montgomery and Deming said, and what you explain. Can you make things clear, please? What is the key ?

Just wanna clarify , there is a positive trend on Non conformance quantity by seeing a table itself. without plotting C chart we can decide the process is gonna out of control. Here how C chart help us on statistically?

firstly - thank you sir for making these videos! Second - I wonder why would somebody want to use a C-chart over a P-chart or vice versa? They seem to accomplish the same goal

Not really. I didn't do enough justice in this video explaining that part. c-chart can be used to determine the number of different types of defects per item (like dents, scratches, cracks per car) whereas p-chart determines the proportion of items that are defective (yes/no).
