Smashing Pumpkins are one of those nostalgia bands. Whir, Obscured, and Starla are part of the soundtrack of a long lost past. Hell, all the songs are amazing. Just get rid of the cover tracks and combine LA Dolly Vita and Spaced together, and you have an eleven track kick ass album that sounds more like Gish yet has its own sound. Siamese Dream is a great album but I secretly like Gish a little better and this album.

This & Obscured are absolute gems from Pisces Iscariot. Both would have fit beautifully on Siamese Dream.

Smashing Pumpkins... Billy Corgan.... you are my Buddha... When my first love broke up with me... I listened to this song non-stop on my Picsces Iscariot yellow vinyl 12" album..........that was 24 years ago... I still want to cry when I hear this song.. guess you never get over the things that mean the most to you... Just like Billy Corgan will ALWAYS be my music GOD.. I met him in Jan 96 at Z100 in NY....kindest person you could ever dream of.. and that was at the peak of his fame...

never been a big fan of jeffs , his solos are always very standard and almost predictable and often quite inappropriate for my taste. sorry i know it's harsh but the pumpkins demand more

Not really liking the Jeff solo at the end...too fast and out of sync with the rest of the song. Buuuut I wouldn't want to be nostalgic and suggest it was better with James.

William Corgan has said that there won't be a 90's Smashing Pumpkins reunion and that after his next release it might very well be the last. He has this view of his fans that seems to be narrow and bitter at times. It's true that many fans want a return to their former selves. There is a market in nostalgia. It is nice when you travel great lengths to see one of your favorite bands and after paying hundreds on tickets and merchandise, to be able to watch them perform some of their memorable songs. As a musician myself I understand that it's from my own ambition within to create new music and to evolve. You want these songs to be heard. It becomes so monotonous and tiresome to be a hits only band. Many fans embrace The Pumpkins new music but would like a balance on what the original spirit of the band was blended with the trekking of new frontiers. Many oldschool fans such as my self respect the newer music and actually do understand where your coming from. I get the sacred feelings over your music and why youre protective of your endeavors. No one wants to be painted into a corner. It not about the direction of future generations. Mr. Corgan it's a crusade to keep rock alive and to remember why we fell in love with that raw power that had us supercharged in our adolescence. Don't you have anymore fight left in you? Your signature guitar sound with the overall SP sound has had such an impact on my own sound that if you don't want to carry the torch I will gladly up my efforts. The only trouble is I don't have Jimmy :)
