Put A/FR gauge in the other side or a Oil Pressure gauge so it looks more OEM like and those gauges are useful and can save the cars life at some point. I learn that the hard way LMAO

Contact glue needs to be applied on both sides, you want a good amount for even coverage but no so much that it starts to bulge and get goopy - if that happens the center will never tack up. Also in relation to dry times, make sure it is fully 'tacky'; tacky is a bit misleading because it shouldn't be wet or even sticky to the touch, it can feel quite dry, what you're looking for is a dull matte finish, it shouldn't be shiny, even if left for 30 minutes it will still be totally usable as once the two tacked sides come in contact they almost instantly set, you can use a heatgun on a medium setting to speed up the process. Using the brush method is fine actually albeit it can get a bit frustrating, the difficulties you were having I think were due to existing glue that was already sticky. It was a really good try but upholstery is really one of those things you need mileage with to get the hang of it, it was an admirable attempt! If you do try recover it again (use a fresh piece of suede, not the one you have probably stretched) make sure to attach it from the base of the doorcard first, it's the more simpler shape and pushing it towards the top allows you to stretch it out (not a huge amount of stretch is required) and you won't end up with excess fabric (or at least as much of it) that you are trying to work in because it's going the opposite direction. If you do decide to get a professional to repair this please record it! Professional upholster's or anyone in the textile industry are amazing to watch with their hands, it's a great balance between strength and finesse to get the desired out come, super satisfying~

To add to this, I've found that scuffing up the plastic underneath is also necessary to get better adhesion. The high temp contact cement also takes longer to properly cure, so prying it up before can leave one wondering why it didn't bond well. The DAP shouldn't have any problem being applied with a foam brush, you just have to be careful to apply thin/even layers.

you should use a material with a backing that is resistant to stretch. I have also always removed those panels from the door cards to wrap them. Apply glue to both surfaces, let them tack up. Start in the most concave part of the panel, and work your way toward the edges. a low stretch backing helps. If you have too much stress in the material when glued down (too much stretch) those stresses will "get back out" when the glue warms up and everything comes apart. Nice build, fun to watch, in spite of a lot of ads.

The remote starter and turbo timer are probably connected. My evo V used the turbo timer to make sure the car was not in gear when you left the car and locked the doors

I'm excited to see this thing get back on the road. I'm glad you have your wiring diagram now. I found that resource while working on my 1989 Colt GT several years ago. These 90's machines have so much wiring for all the various computers and sensors, it's tough to sort through it all.

Wrapping those panels is a lot like applying a sticker - careful placement, go slow, and it helps to have one of those applicator tools or in a pinch, you can drag the old Air Miles card out of your wallet and use it to push things down into place as you go. And for cleaning interiors, for all the cleaners and things I've tried, our Bissell Little Green still does the best job on a budget. Get one of those, and a container of the cleaning solution, agitate everything, vacuum as much as you can with the shop vac, then get the Little Green out. Have the water as hot as the tap will go, and keep at it. For a whole interior, you might need a couple tanks of cleaning solution, then a third just to go everything one more time after it dries. Did that with our old Ranger, and it went from dark brownish grey to 90s interior light gray in about an hour. With one of those new and a bottle of solution, you'd pay about $80-100 Canadian, and the machine is endlessly useful for keeping carpets and seats clean.

The Tornador cleaner works really well. I used to detail used cars that a dealership took in on trade and I remember a Lexus RX that was absolutely filthy when we got it. After using that cleaner gun there was a night and day difference between the dingy, dirty leather and the nice almost brand new looking leather it left behind. Definitely recommend them for anyone with children lol

The gauge cluster turned out great! I do think they could do with another gauge on the left to even it up though. I've bought some suede to do the doors on my 6. I tried before and it was a failure, but yours turned out way better than mine did even with the ripples you had and I think it was due to me using a thicker material so I'm going to put myself through potential misery and do it again, and also redo the vapour barriers at the same time. It should also be said though that a lot of people with the 6 just take the material off and clean up all the glue and just run them using the material underneath as it matches the rest of the doors anyway. Sadly though when I took the material off mine the first time, whatever glue someone used before was so bad I could not get it off, hence me deciding to try and retrim them.

That switch goes to the radio, to disable the video in motion so you can watch movies while you drive ect.

A lot of times that switch is put into the audio setup in order to trick the head unit and turn on/off the DVD parking break sensor. That way you can play movies while your driving (if switch is on - grounded) or not allow it (if switch is off - open)

On the left side of the digital instruments display put an EGT guage just like the boost guage on the right side It will give your instrument cluster a more balanced and a more clean look

If my memory serves me right, Starbo is by Sanyo, and they make remote engine start devices, and turbo timers. This little adapter you have is an anti stall device, for when you are using Turbo Timer or Remote Start

The on/off Switch is a bypass switch for the radio to be able to use the video feature while driving. It need to see ground in a set of 2 -3 ground pulses.

That DAP contact cement (Landau Top & Trim Adhesive) is awesome stuff. It sprays quite well from a Harbor Freight spray gun (sku #: 69704, 97855, 30224). I've been using this stuff for years with great success. though, I will admit that you have to spray this stuff to get it to work right.

I'm no upholstery expert, but trying to apply a flat piece of material to something with a lot of contours and curves with a spray-on adhesive doesn't seem like it would last long term after a bunch of hot and cold weather cycles. The material itself needs to be somewhat pre-formed to the surface so that there wouldn't be too many high and low tension areas. Personally, I would try some other method all together. It won't look factory, but maybe it'll save you from the stress of seeing the trim peel off again. Maybe smoothing out those surfaces and flocking them? Maybe spraying on a bed liner material on them or even spray painting the panels body color or black?

That little switch is most likely for a flex fuel set up that was used to switch between E85 and unleaded.

That switch is most likely a E-brake simulator. Some audio units require e brake engaged to watch video's on the screen (simulate car is parked). Hard to say, but if it is tied to audio system, i would guess that is what it is for.

the switch on the radio is probably so you can watch DVDs while driving. its supposed to be tied to the parking brake switch so you have to set the parking to watch a movie. but if you wire it to a switch you can watch and drive.

At the end of the video, are those knee pads on the door and center console to cushion your knee when you brace yourself in hard cornering? I've noticed a number of things that Mitsubishi did for performance that I wouldn't have recognized had I not had some track time! Like the vents in the hood behind the radiator, the hood looks OEM and has those in place already? Amazing!

The switch on the radio harness is probably a parking brake override. Meaning it's to allow the Sony DVD player to play dvds while driving

Looks great Pete! to add to the suede situation, i used the same material ( probably the same exact suede from the same store). it doesnt stretch very well, the glue i used in some spots went through the material and you can see it on the outside. also it FADESS in the sunlight super easily.
