Fantastic build guys… As a 45 year old I’ve had my fair share of Hondas back in the late 90s, early 2000s (never an EF) but my 1st was an EF8 CRX, then a Del Sol SiR, then an EK9 with that superb B16B, then an EG6 SiR-S, then a BB8 Motegi 5th Gen Prelude and an ATR in the mix too… only the last 2 were UK cars! I’ll never get over how good the Vtec sounds on cross over on all of them, but the EK9 & EG6 were the best, rawest sounding etc… I ran both with the AEM V2 CAI too… so glad to see they’re still made… Really took me down memory lane this build, cheers 👍🏼👌🏼

Hey guys, I love that you used a transfer pump to drain the tank lol but EF’s have a drain plug on the bottom of the tank so you can empty it without a pump. Take a peek under there you’ll see it on the corner of the tank. ❤

I'm always impressed by the fine attention to detail with restoring such as the DOHC sticker and the hatch key gasket. This episode really showed how good the EF can look. For me, removing the purple tint would show off the nice blue interior, and I noticed the center light in the rear has a faded CIVIC decal. I know you can get those if it interests you, I saw CRX Seth source a decal on one of his CRX projects.

so I must say, this speed Academy video is by far my favourite video you guys have ever produced! The third GEN Prelude seat in the driver seat is pretty cool. As far as the gas tank cap and door moldings, those are actually OEM, except for Jdm EF the door side mouldings are different in that they are very thin to match the bumpers. Love the mention of a Jdm front end too! I’m so impressed with how well the B16b did… although after owning my Dc2 type r, it was one of the best built engines I’ve ever had after owning many. Honda truly puts extra care in on their specialty engines! Although I don’t own my EF anymore and I’m an S2 guy now my F20C that is completely torquelsss always reminds me of where I started in a B16 EF hatch, you guys adding the lip and the dual overhead cam VTEC stickers was honestly a joy to watch. Also want to add that if you guys are ever interested, you can put a Crx round bezel Dash into the EF and the dash will line up perfectly with the EF door panels, look forward to more episodes on this car!

Guys, after being one of the biggest Honda fans for the majority of my adult life, and given the fact that I have built quite a few B18B1 engines with a turbocharger, I will tell you that I performed a factory rebuild on a B18B1 (NPR gapped rings, Cometic MLS head gasket, ACL Race bearings on rods and mains with ARP main studs after a line hone), ARP head studs, BC Stage 2 Turbo cams, dual valve springs with titanium retainers, a Skunk2 street intake manifold with a 70mm throttle body, Siemens Deka 660cc injectors, a Turbonetics 60 trim turbo, a Walbro 350 LPH fuel pump, 93 octane, and it made 412 whp at 15 psi. I would absolutely agree that the EF will be alot of fun on a road course, and it would make easy work of some cars on the street, but it could never hold a candle to a well-built turbocharged B18B1 in an EG hatch. I had a 1997 EJ8 coupe and even with the cheapest of eBay turbo kits (tuned on Crome of course by the best street tuner I know), with a D15B block and a D16Z6 head it would EAT full bolt on WRXs and Cobb modified Mazdaspeed 3s on the strip. I swapped in a bone stock 250k mile B18B1 and put the same turbo kit on it (that I pieced together out of eBay parts and junkyard parts), it would kill modified SRT4s easily. Then I went with a fully sleeved and forged internal LSVTEC and it made 709 whp at 34 psi. It became less fun at that point on the street...

My brother had a B16B EK and it did sound amazing...but I had a turbo D16 EF and it wasn't even a contest. The right size turbo just makes an old Honda so much better. Can't wait to see the B18B numbers, I'd expect 300+ if your tuner knows they aren't made of glass and you have a 4bar MAP sensor.

I remember trowing a h2b in my eg coupe and making 238whp stock all motor jdm h23a blue top back when it was considered “the mystery motor” I took a chance when no one really knew what they made and how reliable they were and everyone was impressed myself included, k swaps were still pretty new but I remember beating every kswaped Honda I raced, and all I had was 70mm throttle body, a cheap intake, cheap eBay header that I put a 3 inch collector on and a 3 inch exhaust, ran a fresh rebuilt gsr trans with carbon synchros and lsd and honestly that was the nicest shifting bseries trans iv ever driven, the gears went in effortlessly and I was flat foot shifting it whenever I raced it and never gave me a single grind or missed gear, i just think the whole combo was perfect…ran 11.6 all motor at the 1/4 mile track in a eg coupe with 23inch slicks, with power locks power windows, had radio and door speakers, only thing taken out was the rear seats and passenger seats but only for track days

Wonderful build. I had 90 Civic Si that I bought new here in AZ and wish I still had it. Following comments all taste based (just my wish list): I have 90 Civic Si rear seat which would look good in yours to have all seats black in color. CRX or Si front seats would also look great but hard to find. Momo leather shift knob would be nice addition to interior as well as black momo logo. HKS style tips to mimic HKS exhaust that was offered in the 90s would be cool. Black valve covers, black plug wires, and black battery boot cap, and lose the AEM sticker. Alpine stereo from that time, Rockford fosgate punch 45 amp or Alpine amps from the time, and Hafler speakers. New tint. White DP Enduro rims.

CRX Si seats were much lower than the 3dr Si seats. I had a black '88 CRX Si and my Brother had a matching black '90 3dr Si. Seats looked the identical but the CRX Si seats were about 3/4" lower. It was a very noticeable difference when seated. Integra seats were also lower than Civic 3dr seats. After my Brother died I put the twin tipped HKS "Sports" exhaust you mentioned on his '90 3dr Si. It looked totally stock and was very quiet with his JDM Integra XSi B16a swap. He did the swap in '00 and I found the car for him in '98
