I was super close with my grandparents and the things I did in their present my mom was not allow to do...which is why they had a strained relationship and my grandma and granddad both felt comfortable enough with me to share things that they would never share with their own kids. This why the relationship between @KandiOnline and her child will be an open one where Riley feels safe, protected, and free to talk with and express herself openly with her mom. No need for fear, judgment or punishment for being human from the person who brought you into this world. Your generation is one of the reason there is so much childhood trauma in the black community. Respectful.

Hi Kandi!!! Me and you are alot alike. I was a single Mom of 5 so all I know is WORK bc I always wanted to be a great Mom. But with doing that, my kids always say I never make time for them bc I always have to work. there is a way to put yourself first and still not be selfish, arrogant or condescending about it. from the moment you’re born you’re all about self and how YOU feel never taking into account how what you do, say & how you do/say things WILL affect others. that’s the difference between riley’s generation & the one before her. kids riley’s age has been given everything & they grow up believing that’s how the world works. then regular ppl have to deal & interact with them. “i’d rather them be annoyed than me” is nothing less of a selfish statement & it doesn’t surprise me. i’ve always gotten that vibe. on another note, i wish we could see y’all in a more “loving” way instead of riley always being sarcastic & smart & kandi just submitting to it. y’all always give that when we see y’all. it’d be nice to see y’all in another light - if it exists.
