As a recording guy: The Jensen sounds like a record!!! Clean: Wonderful sparkle. Crunch: Works also. But for High Gain and Mid Gain Rock: Celestion would be my choice.

Jensen P12Q would be my choice.....none of the frequencies seem disjointed from the fundamental. Can't say the same about the two Celestion offerings.

Really nice job doing this. It's how speaker comparison should be done.

As much as i love celestion speakers, i feel the Jensen sounds most like fender. I think if you could only have one amp, the creamback might be a good choice because it’s probably most versatile. But if you really want it to sound like a fender then I think the jensen is the one you’re looking for

I like celestion speakers for amps like the deluxe reverb because it gives the crunch and drive tones a slightly more British flavor while retaining that wonderful American clean tone .. I also like that the creamback rounds of the cleans a touch and makes them slightly warmer without losing any of the chime or taking away too much top end sparkle .. Very versatile combination. Its also why I like Strats and teles with gibson humbuckers . Not just any humbuckers but particularly gibson Humbuckers . Gibson Humbuckers particularly their modern PAF style humbuckers have a more raw slightly less refined tone compared to fender humbuckers or Duncan's or many boutique offerings . I prefer modern Gibson PAF types to other modern humbuckers along with the Duncan slash pickups and whole lotta humbuckers as they have a more raw and raucous tone compared to other Duncan's because they are more raw and a bit more wild. I don't like higher output pickups so a vintage PAF style humbucker that is more raw sounding and a bit rougher around the edges is the perfect way to get a more aggressive tone without going high output. Strats and Teles with single coils or more refined more mellow humbuckers are too clean too pristine and a bit too hifi for my tastes and style. The gibson Paf clones like the 57 classic plus or Burstbucker 3 give fenders a more raw and slighy more ragged tone and of course adds a gibson vibe. Not really a paf type but I have seen people claim that the Ceramic magnet gibson 496R which is a neck pickup sounds awesome as a fender strat bridge humbucker . I have always been drawn to more raw and ragged guitar tones. Not necessarily heavy or hi gain tones just moderately heavy less articulate tones . Like the stooges or 1974 to 1976 live Rush like on all the world's a stage.. Jack from the peach guitars demo videos is a perfect example of the modern gibson PAf clobe tone . Best Custombucker/ Burstbucker/57 Classic tones I have heard. .

@@adamwatson6916Actually, if I remember correctly, the Creamback 65 was made with a Marshall type sound in mind. Which makes sense. It just doesn't sound "great" with a Fender type amp. Still, the Creamback was made to use on a pedal platform amp where you get lots of headroom.

For part 2, I would really like a comparison of the Jensen P12Q and the Jensen C-12K, I haven't found this comparison anywhere, You'd do it justice.

All of them sound great and beautiful their way. The Jensen has a beautiful sparkle, the v30´s midrange sound better to me on that amp than in a British amp and, the Creamback sweetness sound great too. I guess it all comes to what someone’s looking for. I would say that the Jensen sounds just right for the amp as you expect that tone from a fender amp but none of them sound bad to me. I guess I would dial the amp different specially for the Creamback and also guess that a mix between the Jensen and either of the other two would sound great. You have to try the Wgs et65 on that amp. Very nice playing as always!!

After the stock Jensen ceramic, a Celestion A-type and a vintage mid 60s Jensen I today put in a V30 in my 64`DR reissue. The stock speaker was underwhelming, even more so was the A-type (I admit not giving it a lot of break-in time, but the sweet airy top end disappeared completely), the vintage Jensen was a big improvement after that and I thought my journey was finished, but since a lot of people I highly respect (JD Simo, Cesar Diaz, Zac Childs....) swear on a V30 in a DR I always had that in the back of my head. Long story short, got a good deal on one of the more recent V30s with the transparent dust caps, threw it in and have to give it more time playing around, but so far at living room volume the V30 is amazing. The amp still has the character of a DR at low volume and that all "spankiness", but now every guitar sounds great through it, from Les Paul to a spikey Jazzmaster. None of the guitars farts out at the low end, no guitar gets too ice picky and it still sounds like a DR is supposed to. Can`t wait to turn it up. Very impressed.

The Jensen sounds amazing on its own, but I think the V30 is a great option too, because it features a nice mid-hump character, which seems like an excellent counterpoint for the mid-scooped Fender preamp.

for fender, i recognize the amp better with the jensen, but it is very scooped, bass heavy and glassy top. v30 adds mids, cuts top and probably gives the tone a nice place to sit in a mix. but, it doesn't sound fenderish with the v30. cream back too much cut in top end, very mid heavy, which makes it very warm sounding, again not a fenderish tone i'd expect from the amp. I'd probably stay with the jensen and try dial a little bass out. or add a v30 or cream back and a jensen together 2x12 style.

The Vintage 30 at low volume doesn't have as much definition as many other flagship Celestions, but at gig-level it sounds big and it really punches thru the mix. At bedroom volumes the best of my 29 Celestion speakers is the V-type believe it or not.

Great demo! Do you remember if all the speakers were played at the same volume on the DRRI? I have the Jensen in mine and it starts breaking up around 4 with a humbucker. Do the other speakers need to be pushed harder before they start to break up? I am looking for a little more headroom.

Jensen for that Fender® chime and recognizable sound. The v30 is also decent because it gives more mids than a Fender usually has and works for the crunch. All sound good.

I have the stock Jensen in my DR reissue but I also have it plugged into a 2x12 with Celestion v30s. It’s a very full sound that I’m digging at the moment. My Celestion are broken in with a few years in them.

For my taste, the Jensen is miles ahead of the V30, and the creamback can be put out with the recycling.

This is, of course, context dependent, but I feel like the Jensen could get close to sounding like the others with some EQ tweaks. I don’t think the others are capable of sounding like the Jensen.

I tried for years... My choices: Celestion V-Type for chime but balanced, or Eminence EM12 for present sound in a band situation. And, for sure, remove the bright cap located in the reverb mixer (C13 10pF).

I keep looking for a speaker that sounds better than my original Joe Naylor AllTone 1250 in a ‘72 Deluxe reverb. I appreciate the cleans the Jensen does and the Creamback is just hard to make sound bad, but the AllTone bridges the American clean and huskier British sound. Thanks for posting

I liked the V30 best, more punchy in the mid's. The jensen has too much bass. The Creamback sounds great too and has more a fender sound, so I would probably go for that one, even if I prefer V30's.

Were the celestions played in? They sound new out of the box. They should have at least 10hrs play time on both of them before even recording a comparison.

If you want Alnico, try Celestion G12 Gold vs P12Q. 94.4dB vs 100 is a significant loss of volume. I have a G10 Gold in my ‘68 Custom PR and it is plenty loud.

The bright side of a less efficient speaker is your ears don’t bleed when you over drive the power tubes. I have a Hot Rod Deluxe with a Celestion G12H-80 and it is PAINFULLY LOUD. Never played the clean channel above 3 in all the years I gigged.

Yes. A Neo Creamback or a H Creamback would be brighter, but with the same «fundamentals». And you could always dial in a little more treble in the EQ or from the guitar to compensate.

Good comparison, but that's just how those speakers sound coming out of a deluxe, which I hope to get at some point, but I have a quiet a few amps and different types of cabinets and speakers. My supper reverb sounds simular with the Jensens, but a lot Beefier, with the 410s, seems that all speakers sound quite different in different types of cabinets and configurations, just as they do with different amps. I have a 412cab. with green backs that sounds incredible with my Marshall plexie, but sounds like crap with my mesa boogie, which sounds great with my 212 vintage 30s, and even better with my 112 thiele cab with a creamback. So what I got out off your comparison was a deluxe sounds good with all off them 🤔
