This week in "Lukile can't read and pronounce words": Lichenweed is not pronounced like that. And Oak Tree is actually called Oath Tree (my Eorzean reading skills are terrible). It doesn't change anything, but worth correcting anyways.

See, when I heard him pronounce Lichen as its spelled instead of how I learned to pronounce it, I looked it up. Not fully certain on this one, but apparently the way Lukile pronounced it is an accepted alternate pronunciation.

It would be really cool if in future expansions they do unlock more 1.0 zones so we can see what the Calamity did to them (in things other than PVP) like West Shroud, more of Coerthas, stuff like that. I'd be really interested to see these zones as they are now.

Don't forget the actual ordeal it was to get to the Moogle Fight, you had to *walk* to the entrance (not run) in order to avoid aggro on the lv 99 treants in the area. Oh the hilarity of watching several parties just try to take one of them down, which was an achievement in itself.

I hope they grant us access to the inaccessible areas of ARR like the West Shroud. Imagine a Southern or Eastern Coerthas that's only partially hit by the winter. Yeah. I love the shroud and I wish ti access all parts of it. Now, I wonder which part of the Black Shroud would the Black Boar gate lead into.

Black Boar gate isn't the only one, Red Otter Gate is seen by the Inn but not accessible.

I feel this video the most. First of all, I just want to say thank you so much for making these Remnants videos. I am a FFXIV player that didn't come along until 2.0, so to see how much the maps and areas changed after the calamity is very interesting me. Anyways, I feel this video the most because West Shroud is the one place I always wanted to visit, especially after it's alluded to or directly referenced in ONE sentence in ONE quest in ARR.

I have a small suggestion for Chronicles of a Realm (assuming it's still on the todo list). Can you split it up into pre and post Yoshida eras. I think it would be a good way to see where the story might have been heading before the direction change. This might help others help you with those areas that you mention here that you didn't know what their use was.

The 1.0 King Mog unlock quest was a bit more involved as well, requiring the defeat of 5 notorious monsters on the first time through. Hopefully this is explained in a future episode.

Situated under the landmark "Knight's Round" is/was an abandoned dungeon. I never got into it when 1.0 was around (because I didn't know how to break into zoned off areas) but I have seen pictures of others who have gotten in. There's this weird room with a weird cylinder in the middle of it... It's round so perhaps it's what is referred to as "Knight's Round"?

1.x was so much alike FFXI in gamplay aspects.

yea and that's why it failed. it didn't cut the modern gaming industry and most of the people who continued to play 1.0 after release was the guys who played FF11 and could stomach it.

Ven Kitsune to be fair, ffxi wasn't fundamentally broken in game play. The server lag has got to be the worst part of 1.x. BTW, I've never played ffxi.

not inherently in most cases, one of the best descriptions I've heard of FFXI was it sometimes being 'perfectly imbalanced' it felt very much like a world more than just a game, which was great in some cases but frustrating for some and definitely didn't hold up to more modern gaming trends and expectations, but it worked and some people can really enjoy the style, personally I liked XI and (most of) 1.x's game play, but that was when it would play, the servers weren't ready, the client hadn't been smoothed out and the very noticeable server side UI (on said overloaded servers) really didn't help it's case, I would've really liked to see what XIV originally would've played out as if it had continued to exist.

I think Oath Tree is actually in the East Shroud now. Overlooking Baelsar's Wall is a watch tower built around a big dead tree. Could be the same one?

West shroud seems like a fun place. The artwork for it looked nice and I enjoy lichenweed a lot more then the wolves den map for feast. Mostly cause you can steal the other players buffs if you're fast enough.

I’m imagining west shroud as a level 20-60 area that can serve as a) a portal from north to central shroud (the level 20-30 zone) and b) some high level stuff that acts as a gateway to (level 80-90) coerthas lowlands.

I'm curious, where/how do you get all of your b-roll footage of 1.0 environments for your videos?

He's using a private client version of 1.0. It involves a program that takes the 1.0 files and simulates a single player server without any monsters. Such projects that do this exist, like Seventh Umbral. Most functions do not work. But there are commands for changing the ingame weather, which would explain why every time he shows off a location its sunny and clear.

(Hears you pronounce lichen) Isn't that pronounced "LIE ken?" (Looks up pronunciation) Apparently both are correct? Well I'll be danged. I'm surprised Good King Moggle Mog was in 1.x! The exploit to his fight seemed akin to a lot of exploits in FFXI fights, though. Frickin' Mammets.
