There was a merchant named Montorgains at 1.0 Bluefog? It may just be a coincidence, but Heustienne's adoptive father, from the Heavensward Dragoon class quests, is also named Montorgains. He used to be a dragoon, but quit many, many years ago and Heustienne had been trying to make him proud. I wonder if the 1.0 Bluefog Montorgains was an Elezen male...

Well, we now know Hidden Gorge is still there... so long as you like PVP!

Given Cerulum is notably explosive, it's also possible hidden Gorge was just blown up due to the fighting and falling debris.

It's also possible that hidden gorge wasn't destroyed totally but is just (practically) inaccessble even in lore as well as in-game.

That J'Dyalani NPC you mention from Bluefog is actually still in the game, to some extent...although I don't know how it could be the same person lorewise. There's a Miqo'te named J'Dyalani with the same hair color, features and a similar hairstyle (more braids now but basically the same thing) who shows up in Ala Ghiri as part of the Baut questline

After this video I went and checked out the Ceruleum Processing Plant, I noticed that there actually are three more ceruleum pumps! They're not accessible, but off to the west of the plant you can see the ceruleum smoke rising off of three different pumps.

Maybe this will be talked about in another video but, an interesting thing I remembered after watching your video is that Nenekko, (the lalafell getting married) and her two brothers are actually in ARR. The quest(The Wrath of Qarn) that sends you into Sunken Temple of Qarn (Hard), has you sent into the dungeon to find Nenekko by her brothers. I wonder what happened with the marriage. Maybe it was explained in the v1 miner quests? I do not know myself, as I did not play much of v1.

We'll probably cover that questline at a later time in Chronicles of a Realm (whenever I can get to that lol). Most of that storyline did unfold in 1.0. It was kinda the main story in the overal MIN questline.

That song, even though it's pretty, feels awfully out of place to me, but that seems to be the feeling I have for how most of the songs were applied back in 1.0 The ones that actually made a come back in the new game sound more in place than before. Northern Thanalan has always been so interesting to me. Back in 2.5 you could actually glitch out of the map into the Ceruleum Camps and walk on top of that huge ass tube that goes in the distance when you look out of the map. There are buildings down there in the camp, it's overall very well built and functional, but they just locked it all away from us ^^ I dunno if here's still a way to break out of the map in that region, but at the time it used to be a very specific jump to be able to make it.

They are bringing back another 1.0 location for a PVP location, Hidden Gorge. I still don't understand why they just can't let us go to these places! lol

I do wonder if Yoshi has plans to expand old areas in future expansions, although i doubt it'd happen until after we deal with the Garleans in their own backyards... I just remembered the next LL is tomorrow morning!

It wasn't much but Costa Del Sol got a small expansion with the release of Stormblood. There's a couple of islands you can now swim out too though there isn't much there.

3 years later... Not much has been expanded in from 1.0. A lot of resources were reused in other regions, but just as many remain on the cutting room floor; which may be for the best.

wow! just wow! I found this video on the subreddit today and i'm so impressed with the level of quality for such a small channel. All of the infographics and interesting notes! I didn't start playing ffxiv until patch 2.2 but i've always had so many questions about 1.x days. Definitely plan on checking your other videos out! This is awesome!!! Question actually. are you using some special version of the game to get your screenshots and landscape pans from? I thought the only revival project never got very far.

i love being able to see all that is 1.0. I have always been a Final Fantasy fan and collector, but was too busy playing 11 at this time and being stubborn about going over to a new game. I waited till 2.0 but I like having the history that you provide. Thank you :)

@@sephirothxer0 before meteor is the 1.0 soundtrack, it doesnt have anything to do with ARR. some of the before meteor songs are in ARR, but not all of them. do you remember where you heard From the heart? i know they use 1.0 songs in cutscenes sometimes but ive never heard that one

I am a bit doubtful that inaccessible zones are just.. still there.. like.. what would you expect thinking of that? That zones like Western Shroud and Southern Mor Dhona are still there in their 1.0 forms? I suppose it's possible if they imported 1.0's Eorzea and went to craft the ARR maps from there. But usually out of the bounds of where players are meant to go.. is a lot of untextured or poorly textured stuff. It's more likely that there just isn't anything there but the bare minimum required for what you can see from accessible areas. Still, sometimes there are unintended goodies to see if you manage to go out of bounds, I remember that from TERA Online, where in one of the early game maps you could go out of bounds (at least back then) and stumble into an unreleased, yet seemingly complete map called Baldera.

there is also other posibility as to why now the mines are the main entrace to north thanalan, as is what the scales do not exist anymore, because bahamuth destroyed it(unlikely but not imposible), and to not over depend to much on airships to reach that side, they pushed the mining activity to make a path to that side in like a year?

Every person I have talked to who played 1.0 (as well as myself) have thought that the camp was named BlueFROG ... 100% fail rate. It took me until 3.X to notice.

Don't get me wrong, most of the old songs are good written and all, but so often they just feel sooooo misplaced. And it sounds like the first composer got stuck in the 80s.
