Pratap Styles The Apostles on the day of Pentecost were preaching the gospel in foreign tongues. There are two distinct examples of what tongues are and the second is when the first isn't able to be done. First is to edify all - that is to preach the gospel, so there must be someone who understands the words to translate it. If not the second is to edify oneself and pray to God. It is a command to speak to God only if no translator, not the rule of how it should be used [in other words it is the exception to speak it in prayer only].

+Pratap Styles What did Jesus say to the disciples? Mark 16:15 "and he said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Luke 9:1,2; Mathew 10:6-8) Paul teaches this in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 (not all speak in tongues). Than in chapter 13:1 he says even if you spoke with every tongue possible (earthly or heavenly) but don't have love, it's just some noise to the one that listens to you. Paul explains this in depth in 1 Corinthians chapter 14.

Pratap Styles Paul most certainly did not say we all can speak in tongues. He clearly showed in Romans 12 that differing gifts were given, some one, to others another. No where does he say that a certain gift is given to all - the closest would be that we all received the Holy Spirit [that does NOT mean we all speak in tongues.].

Thank for this video. I was taught as a child that knowing the languages of other nation was a gift we should cherish. I speak 8 languages ( read, write ) and have worked as translator for years yet I was literally told I do not have the gift of tounges because even though I seem to learn each new language very easy, it is still a language spoken by man and the speaking in tounges is a divine language. Yet interestingly enough since I remember my self I was what some would call gifted and one of the first things that did strike me was the language that Christ spoke, I knew and understood every word he said to me, and each word carried so much feelings and emotions that made the purest love of all be the bliss that you recieved with his words, yet I could not tell you today what language that was because he never spoke on a language. What my experience was the best I can describe it is his thoughts and feelings got recieved by me and translated naturally on a language full of love and brightness. He sure as hell didn'y blalber as some of these people who profes to talk in "tounges" do.

The primary use of tongues is praying in tongues, "when I pray in tongues my spirit prays but my understanding is unfruitful" We are instructed to pray in the spirit and pray with our understanding both. The other gift of tongues is for a sign to unbelievers which is a message in an unknown tongue that is interpreted in a known language. If you rule out the gifts of the Spirit taught in the New Testament you have to discount a large portion of the New Testament. I grew up in a church that was ignorant about the gifts of the Spirit but started having supernatural dreams as a young man so I sought out to learn about the things of the Spirit. Anyone who says the instructions in the New testament don't apply to today is a liar.

I do not speak in the tongues but I have seen people in the deliverance ministries that do while casting demons out of believers in Jesus name and the demons do not like it at all. It stirs them up very much. Demons do not like it for some reason.

Where do people come up with this nonsense, it is NOT a "test." there are different gifts and not everyone get the gift of speaking in tongues, the apostle Paul said that although speaking in tongues is truly a phenominal gift, he himself could speak in tongues - yet there must always be someone present who can interpret what is said, otherwise it is meaningless. He goes on to state that it is better to seek the gift of prophecy.

Speaking in tongues is for a sign to unbelievers and spiritually immature, prophecy is just interpretation without speaking in tongues. I grew up in a ministry and everyone could speak in tongues if they wanted to learn. Everyone has the same measure of faith and even though we all have different gifts and abilities to teach and witness we all have the ability to speak in tongues. It quickens the mortal body, when I speak in tongues in my private prayer life I have seen my rest increased when I only slept less than 8 hrs. True tongues doesn't sound like Babbling, it sounds just like someone talking in another language. Speaking only in tongues is nonsense without interpretation. It's a tongue of men or Angels. Greater means mature spiritually. It's also a perfect prayer to God.

chai momma​​​. I did as well, it is true, tongues are for the unbelievers, prophecy are for the believers as stated by the apostle Paul. I do not agree with that info since scripture (NT)states in detail of the different spiritual gifts, tongues, prophecy and others are gifts that not everyone receives, everyone receives different gifts. Paul states that he himself can speak in tongues and that it is a wonderful gift, yet he does also state that one should seek the gift of prophecy - since if someone is to walk in a church and hears the people pray in tongues, yet has no understanding or interpretation then he will gain nothing and will think the people are crazy, but if someone walks into a church and hears the people prophesy, the person will know that God truly exist. That's what scripture states although I did not quote the example directly, I know a thing or two about ministries, however one needs no special education or qualification or honor mentions to know what the Bible teaches. Something else I also learned from the Bible (Romans 8 I believe) is that when a believer sleeps, one groans - which is one's spirit talking with the Holy Spirit, because we do not know what we ought to pray for.... Ok, first off. Do I think guys like Kenneth Copeland fake tongues are evidence of the holy spirit? No, he is simply a guy saying something like "shay bo bo ha" and other non sense that he fabricated. Do I believe speaking in tongues is evidence of the holy spirit? Yes, and unless you disagree with (Mark 16:17, Acts 10:44-46, Acts 19:4-6) so do you. eugenia hamezianos We must compare scripture with scripture or we may get a warped view. 1. Acts 2 v 8 - they were real languages understood by those who spoke them themselves. Some did not understand and mocked. Your argument from 1 Cor 14 is that no one understands tongues? You are plainly wrong. 2. Paul's point in 1 Cor 14 is that if tongues are not translated then no one understands. Unless they know the language already the congregation will be in ignorance of what is being spoken. In v 10 he states that every language including the languages they are speaking (Tongues means language) have a discernible meaning. In fact if there is no translator then the speaker should stay silent as no one will be built up by words they don't understand. 1 Cor 14 v 10 - 14. 3. Tongues are only useful if they are understood. If they need an interpreter then they must have a meaning!! In v 21 he quotes Isaiah Ch 28 comparing tongues in his day to REAL LANGUAGES spoken by foreign invaders in Isaiah's day. Therefore "No one understands" does not mean that tongues were a mystical unintelligible form of supernatural gibberish that only God can understand. If Bibles translated the word Tongue as "Language" it might help folk see that real languages are always being spoken of "Tongues" is an old English rendering of the word "Language". joe long One day I had a strange experience. When my father was alive, I had invited my Christian friend who did speak in tongues. My father was not feeling good that day and she prayed over him in tongues. Now my father speaks 6 languages. He was an engineer on the ships for 20 years, and was born in Egypt. When she finished praying, and left my apartment, he turned around and said to me, where did she learn to speak Arabic. Just then I understood the speaking of tongues, and how in the book of Acts, they all heard them speak in their own language. God interpreted in their ears in their own language..Amazing...

You think it is a mystical language that God enables people to understand - according to their background, I still do not agree with your analysis though. The gift was the ability to speak real, human languages - possibly even Angelic ones (1 Cor 13 v 1 ff). The gift was to show that God was accepting Gentiles into the Kingdom of God on the same terms as Jews. Their languages were acceptable to God to speak through - where previously he had spoken only in Hebrew. I have spoken in tongues, maybe a dozen times in public, but much more at home in my prayer time. Never in a language that I recognize (I'm a native English (American?) speaker, I also speak Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), and some Russian, as well as "tourist phrases" in French, German, and a couple more). This is to say that I recognize ... patterns in speech, if not the language. None of my Tongues have been anything I recognize as a specific language. They usually have the cadence and inflection of some Native American languages I have heard, but I have no idea IF , or Which, they might be. This being said, When I speak in tongues I feel bathed in the Presence of the Almighty. That is good enough for me. Sometimes it is like being bathed in warm oil, sometimes it is like a hug from a loving Father, but it is always comforting and soothing. So, whether or not anyone else understands me I will continue to use "Tongues" (quietly) until someone can tell me what I said and convince me that their translation is true.

The Gift of “tongues” has three distinct functions or purposes from the Lord. 1. It is a supernatural prayer language from a believer that is baptised in the Holy Spirit to God through the power of the Holy Spirit 1 Cor. 14:2. No interpretation is needed since the Lord understands what is being spoken and the message is not for anyone listening. 2. It is a supernatural sign to unbelievers through the power of the Holy Spirit by a spirit filled believer Acts 2. No interpretation is needed since those hearing in their own language understand fully what the Lord is saying to them through a spirit filled believer. 3. It is a supernatural message from God to His Church through a spirit filled believer by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is the only time the message of “tongues” needs to be interpreted so that the church can be edified. I am a Pentecostal believer who has been operating in the beautiful gift of “tongues” for 30 years. After seeking the Lord diligently about this deception of the non-charismatic movement I have felt led of the Lord to respond to this video. My evaluation is as follows. A. Tongues is babblings… 1 Tim 6:20. O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Babblings; The Hebrew word for babblings means; empty discussion, discussion of vain and useless matters. Timothy is warning us not to speak wasting our time on vain or useless discussions. He is not talking nor referring to “tongues” which is a beautiful gift of the Holy Spirit and prayer to God. B. The video emphases that tongues practised today by Pentecostals are gibberish. Although some Pentecostals may be in error with this gift the Pentecostal movement as a whole is not. Tongues is a language created by God and understood by God. This video doesn’t understand the gift and distorts it. They don’t understand that mostly it is a prayer language to God who created all languages. C. This video says that they each heard Peter speak to them in their own language when He addressed the people in Acts 2. This is a misunderstanding of what Peter was doing. When the Holy Spirit came the believers were filled with the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues. Some believers spoke in Arabic others spoke in the Medes language, other spoke in the Parthian’s language and etc. as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance. This is why it is referred to as “TONGUES”. Not all believes were speaking in the same tongue or language. Peter addressed the crowd in Hebrew because some of the Jews there were thinking the believers’ speaking in tongues were mad or drunk. He wanted them to understand that it was a God thing happening. The foreigners would not have understood a thing Peter said unless they understood Peter’s language. D. The video says that most Pentecostals seek the gift of tongues to appear more spiritual. I Cor. 12. Cor. 14. Tells us to desire these spiritual gifts. We desire them and operate in them to be obedient and pleasing to the Lord. When I first got saved 30 years ago the Lord blessed me with the baptism of the Holy Spirit and I was speaking in tongues before I even was taught about it. E. The video says that we must learn to operate in the fruit of the Holy Spirit before we will be given the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Acts 10 when Peter went to Cornelius to minister to the gentles, as He was preaching to them they started speaking in “tongues” which proved to Peter that they were now true believer with the Holy Spirit in them and they were needing water baptism. Remember they were speaking in tongues plural different languages not just one tongue or language. They didn’t even know that heir was such a thing as the fruit of the Holy Spirit, Love, peace, joy, etc. In closing I want to tell you non charismatics that the Lord offers these beautiful gifts of the Holy Spirit to each of you. The Holy Spirit is a gentleman and He won’t force it on you. It is your choice. That is why He asks us to take the second step so we won’t be offend by having the gifts forces on us and or offended when the Holy Spirit starts operating these gifts in us to others. The Bible clearly says there is a kind of tongues where "no man understands" but that we "speak unto YHWH" aka God. Some people even have the gift of being able to interpret tongues. Obviously this would not be necessary if the people were hearing their own, foreign, language as was seen at Shavuot (called Pentecost but not the same thing at all.) There is more than one kind of tongues. The Bible makes that clear.

Hi Joe: The sad thing is that none of you non charismatic Christians can explain the operation of the Holy Spirit's gift of tongues. You search the Scriptures to find verses that convince you that it has ceased and not only not for today but if used today is demonic just to match you weird doctrines. It is very understandable to me that you can't understand it because we have to be taught by the Holy Spirit. You refuse to except what the Scripture says about it. Therefore the Holy Spirit won't teach you. Lets take another look at Scripture to understand the gift of tongues. 1 Cor. 14:2. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. The Lord makes a command here to His New Testament Church, DO NOT FORBIDE TO SPEAK WITH TONGUES. Joe when will tongues not be required any more.... When the church age is finished.... Then there will be no more need to pray to God in tongues because we will be in His presence... Then we will not need to be edified by tongues and prophecy because we will in His presence edified by God Himself. Then there will be no unbelievers in heaven so there will be no need for tongues as a sign to unbelievers in heaven.... Can you see now Joe why it is so important to understand the Holy Spirit's beautiful gift of tongues. I've been going to a Pentecostal Church but still worry on this particular gift. Because though I feel the Spirit from time to time (never constant) I know that going that deep into meditation it opens up yourself to fall into demons to enter. Almost the same as a mind altering drug...... that kind of meditation is dangerous if you don't 100% have the Spirit within you.

I, also, used to "speak" in "tongue", but letter i realized that tongue was not different from the one i was speaking before i became a born again believer of the Lord Jesus Christ; for i used to be a member of an occult organization called "the way". There are "unknown" tongues, speaking directly through the Holy Spirit; and, there are "other" tongues where someone who does not know a language speaks to someone in that persons' native tongue, which is a miracle through the Holy Spirit. Dave Frimml. See, Dave the thing is everyone is still holding unto the few verses which speaks about "unknown tongues" and what has that caused? Vain babblings all over, with everyone uttering something which goes by uninterrupted or not understood at all, making it seem as though, there's only unknown tongues and none known. In Acts 2, all we saw were known tongues, as a matter of fact we've never seen it anywhere or any time save when Paul mentioned it. Where are the known tongues and the interpreters? The Set Apart Spirit of YAH isn't weak or limited to unknown tongues, with no understanding or interpretation. And by reason of this scripture which everyone loves to pull out of it's context, many have dabbled in deceptive practices to speak in tongues that are unknown too, but not given by the Spirit. 'No one is really a hundred percent saved even those that have received the Holy Spirit because we are saved to be saved. We have to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Remember we have carnal minded christians and Spiriitually minded christians as well. I would not like to take a chance on not being filled with the Spirit since Mary and the deciples had to receive it in the upper room. John the baptist was the only person that was born with it because he had to baptize Jesus. Even his mother Elizabeth received it while she was pregnant with John. This took place when Mary came to visit her to tell her about the angel that had to her of Jesus birth. Why do people say if you speak in tongues. Calling someone's prayer tongue "babbling" is an offense to the Holy Spirit. 1 Cor 14:2 - Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. Just because YOU don't understand what there saying doesn't mean it's babbling. I do not believe salvation is based on whether you have the gift of tongues. Salvation is based on faith in Christ. I speak in tongues but many people in my church do not. They are saved just as I am. Apostle Paul encourages us to desire the gifts but the gifts of the spirit are not required for our salvation. Dear non charismatic brothers and sisters in Christ: We are experiencing from your leadership a double standard. Firstly they with good intensions did not understand the doctrine of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the Gift of tongues as outlined by the Word of God. There is no sin in this since your doctrine on this matter has been around for a long time and many great church leaders of the present and past have believed your present day doctrine. However today we have technology that takes down the walls and barriers like never before. We can teach to all who have internet both Charismatics and non charismatics alike with no barriers. We can read each others understanding of scripture to see if the Word of God confirms those comments. Then we can judge it. Secondly, we are commanded to line our doctrines up with the Word of God. My findings, since I was asked by the Lord to teach about the gift of tongues in response to Strange Fire Conference are very troubling. I have found that Strange Fire Conference teaching on tongues do not line up with the Word of God but is a biblical excursion of the Bible scripture to some how undermine what the Bible actually says about tongues and therefore justify there doctrine. For example the Bible no where says that tongues has ceased, however SFC speakers can speak for hours on their assumptions as to why they believe it has ceased and then conclude that it has ceased. This reasoning can only be followed when one does not understand the Gift of tongues and why it is effective today for the Work of the Gospel. When we understand the workings of the Gift and read what scripture has to say about it we agree with Jesus and Paul and desire it. Thirdly, most of you non charismatic believers take the same approach as your leaders and throw away what the Bible says about tongues or you take one statement of scripture about tongues and apply it all speaking in tongues. Either way you use it to protect your doctrine on tongues rather than use the Word to confirm or disprove your doctrine. This is serious business since any false doctrine will affect your effectiveness with the Gospel. Being teachable and correctable is the only way to walk in obedience, humility and integrity. I must say I have been very surprised and troubled by your "MINDSETS" and unwillingness to listen to truth and reason. So i went and was with my brother in law and we kinda had the same understanding concerning laying of hands and speakiing in tongues.We were taught that if you spoke in tongues it was a sign that you were saved and we had longed for that for so long.This was where we find out if we are saved or not.The place was full and they had to use the basement at least 2500 people.We were told to pray and God would do the rest.When everyone started praying i could here all this babbling and it kind of scared me but i was intent on speaking in tongues cause i wanted to be sure i was saved.When it all finished we left and as we got outside i asked my brothjer in law if he felt or heard anything different and i told him neither did i.We talked about our own salvation concerning tongues and other gifts. The one thing we were sure of becouse we read it in our bibles was that if someone was to speak in tongues there had to be [had to be] someone there to interpret and what confuses so many people [new converts] that when someone does get up start speaking in tongues there was no one there to explain.How do you think new visitors felt,i know frightened and to this day i have not seen the gift of tongues being used the way god intended it.

CALVIN BOYER Hi Calvin: Yes Calvin speaking in tongues is proof of salvation because a believer cannot speak in tongues without the Holy Spirit working through them. In Rom. 8 we read that we are not true believers unless the Holy Spirit is in us. However Calvin their are many true believers in the Church today who have the Holy Spirit in them but do not have the baptism of the Holy Spirit and therefore cannot speak in tongues. Secondly Calvin no one can understand speaking in tongues until they receive the gift and operate in it. So you see Calvin we can have all kinds of ideas about tongues and speaking in tongues but without the experience of speaking in tongues be wrong. For example you believe from the Bible that all tongues needs to be interpreted. However Calvin the Bible doesn't say that. The Bible says that when a person speaks in tongues to the Church, one, two or at the most three individuals it must be interpreted. I will explain to you why it is necessary. If you or I stand up in Church and speak a word to the Church publicly in tongues, we are telling the Church that God is speaking His message through us to them. Therefore because everyone believes that this message in tongues must be from God they all want to know what the Lord is saying to them. Since a message in tongues that is interpreted has the same importance as prophecy the message in tongues must be interpreted or translated into the language of the Church so that everyone fully understands God's message to them. Calvin you said that both you and your brother felt uncomfortable when you had hands laid on you for speaking in tongues. I don't know why you felt uncomfortable at that time because those feelings wouldn't have been from the Holy Spirit who tells us to earnestly desire these gifts. If that were from the Holy Spirit God is a God of confusion. Now Calvin lets look at tongues as a prayer language (man talking to God) 1 Cor. 14:2. When tongue talking believers speak all at one time in their gift they are not speaking a message to man from God. The opposite is true. The. Holy Spirit is supernaturally speaking praise and worship through us to God and God understands fully what is being said to Him. This prayer language is the perfect prayer to God since the Holy Spirit enables us to pray exactly the prayer THAT IS NEEDED at that moment. THEREFORE Calvin interpretation is not needed. Now Calvin read Acts 2 and you will find that no interpretation of tongues is given. Calvin I hope that this helps clear things on tongues up for you. Kenneth some questions come to mind regarding this topic. First of all who speaks in this language? Not just Christians, the new agers speak in tongues too and I was involved there for two years and they dont worship God at all. They are part of the light they just dont say what light or what it is, it is lucifers light. I prayed about this and the answer I received was it is the language of the fallen ones. Thats why when their spirit enters the person they have no control over it and dont know what it is they are saying. Its because you are not in control the evil spirit inside you is. Like people get up to stuff when they really drunk and then say they cant remember its because the spiritual shield is dropped and the Holy spirit doesnt want to be a part of it and then the evil spirits enter and the person cant remember what they did, cause they never did it, they werent in control. Ask yourself this lets say I am wrong why is it not always but most of the time that when someone gets that drunk they do bad things and not any good not always but most of the time. The reiki healer I was seeing at the time said it to me like this when her and her boyfriend wanted to get me to speak in tongues just allow the words to come out. It is defined as unconscious or automatic speaking but if I am speaking why must I give over or allow something to speak through me. In my opinion WLC is totally off base on this subject. So starting with (1Cor 13:1) "though I speak in the tongues of men AND of ANGELS," what are the tongues of Angels mentioned here? I submit that they refer to unknown heavenly tongues reserved for times of personal edification as is eluded to in (1Cor 14:2, 4a, 14-15; and Jude 1:20). However the gift of tongues utilized in the church is a different matter and the Apostle Paul went to great length to correct the errors being made between the two. But he didn't forbid us to speak, pray, or sing in tongues as is confirmed in (1Cor 14:14-15). So the truth is when one prays in their heavenly tongue to God their understanding is unfruitful according to Paul, 1Cor 14:14; but what they are doing though not understandable isn't condemned by Paul (see 1Cor 14:16) on the contrary Paul says they are doing it well, and he goes so far as to say "I wish you all spoke with tongues" (1Cor 14:5). Still Paul's main point in these chapter is to instruct the church on the proper use of the gifts of tongues and prophecy, and to that end he admonishes us to pray, sing and speak all we want in the gift of tongues to our Heavenly Father in intense seasons of prayer and in quiet reflective communion. However in the church I would rather you prophecy that the church can be edified unless you are also prepared to interpret what is being said in tongues. (compare 1Cor 14:5 & 13) Therefore in conclusion there are two types of supernatural gifts of speaking in tongues mentioned in scripture; the one which was understandable employed by the Spirit of God on the day of Pentecost to convince the unbelieving Jewish community (Acts 2:14-21; 1Cor 14:21-22) that Jesus was Messiah. The second type is that mentioned in (1Cor 13:1; 14:2, 4a, 14-15) which is unknown to anyone but only to God. It is direct communication under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is perfect communication since it doesn't originate as a result of human intellect or reason (1Cor 14:14) the Spirit of God gives the inspiration to the individual on what to speak the same way He would in the instance of speaking an unlearned known language of men, however in this case we are speaking, singing, praying, and giving thanks in the Spirit through the power of the Spirit in perfect accordance with Gods will. (see 1Cor 2:10-11; Ephesians 6:18; John 11:33; Romans 8:26) Therefore the admonition of Paul in (1Cor 14:39) fits perfectly to finalize my thoughts.

sorry my friend there is a whole chapter in 1 Cor 11 -12 that paul instructs how we are to properly use the gift of tongues and how they are to be used. there were churches just as today that miss use the gift but it is still a gift. thats why paul was instructing this church so we are to instruct those with the gift today to properly use them. And Please do not think you are more holy because you use Jesus name in its hebrew pronunciation. Jesus is derived from the greek that Paul used to write all his letters. he did not use Jesus hebrew pronunciation and also in jesus time they spoke aramaic not hebrew in daily life. so when they called out to Jesus it was in aramaic.

Dear non charismatic believers, although the author of this video may have very good intentions, this video is not the truth about the Lord’s most beautiful gift of “tongues”. The Gift of “tongues” has three distinct functions or purposes from the Lord. 1. It is a supernatural prayer language from a believer that is baptized in the Holy Spirit to God through the power of the Holy Spirit 1 Cor. 14:2. No interpretation is needed since the Lord understands what is being spoken and the message is not for anyone listening. 2. It is a supernatural sign to unbelievers through the power of the Holy Spirit by a spirit filled believer Acts 2. No interpretation is needed since those hearing in their own language understand fully what the Lord is saying to them through a spirit filled believer. 3. It is a supernatural message from God to His Church through a spirit filled believer by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is the only time the message of “tongues” needs to be interpreted so that the church can be edified. I am a Pentecostal believer who has been operating in the beautiful gift of “tongues” for 30 years. After seeking the Lord diligently about this deception of the non-charismatic movement I have felt led of the Lord to respond to this video. My evaluation is as follows. A. Tongues is babblings… 1 Tim 6:20. O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Babblings; The Hebrew word for babblings means; empty discussion, discussion of vain and useless matters. Timothy is warning us not to speak wasting our time on vain or useless discussions. He is not talking nor referring to “tongues” which is a beautiful gift of the Holy Spirit and prayer to God. B. The video emphases that tongues practiced today by Pentecostals are gibberish. Although some Pentecostals may be in error with this gift the Pentecostal movement as a whole is not. Tongues is a language created by God and understood by God. This video doesn't understand the gift and distorts it. They don’t understand that mostly it is a prayer language to God who created all languages. C. This video says that they each heard Peter speak to them in their own language when He addressed the people in Acts 2. This is a misunderstanding of what Peter was doing. When the Holy Spirit came the believers were filled with the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues. Some believers spoke in Arabic others spoke in the Medes language, other spoke in the Parthians' language and etc. as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance. This is why it is referred to as “TONGUES”. Not all believes were speaking in the same tongue or language. Peter addressed the crowd in Hebrew because some of the Jews there were thinking the believers’ speaking in tongues were mad or drunk. He wanted them to understand that it was a God thing happening. The foreigners would not have understood a thing Peter said unless they understood Peter’s language. D. The video says that most Pentecostals seek the gift of tongues to appear more spiritual. I Cor. 12. and 1 Cor. 14. Tells us to desire these spiritual gifts. We desire them and operate in them to be obedient and pleasing to the Lord. When I first got saved 30 years ago the Lord blessed me with the baptism of the Holy Spirit and I was speaking in tongues before I even was taught about it. E. The video says that we must learn to operate in the fruit of the Holy Spirit before we will be given the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Acts 10 when Peter went to Cornelius to minister to the gentles, as He was preaching to them they started speaking in “tongues” which proved to Peter that they were now true believer with the Holy Spirit in them and they were needing water baptism. Remember they were speaking in tongues plural, different languages not just one tongue or language. They didn't even know that their was such a thing as the fruit of the Holy Spirit, Love, peace, joy, etc. In closing I want to tell you non charismatics that the Lord offers these beautiful gifts of the Holy Spirit to each of you. The Holy Spirit is a gentleman and He won’t force it on you. It is your choice. That is why He asks us to take the second step so we won’t be offend by having the gifts forces on us and or offended when the Holy Spirit starts operating these gifts in us to others. The Bible clearly says there is a kind of tongues where "no man understands" but that we "speak unto YHWH" aka God. Some people even have the gift of being able to interpret tongues. Obviously this would not be necessary if the people were hearing their own, foreign, language as was seen at Shavuot (called Pentecost but not the same thing at all.) There is more than one kind of tongues. The Bible makes that clear. Not understanding what we are saying is a way of letting go and letting Yauhuah take the wheel so to speak. Obviously He knows better than we do what we should be praying or praising for.

Most of you do not know what you are talking about because you don't understand the scriptures. In addition you have not experienced receiving this wonderful gift. Paul was talking to the one's in the church that had received it, Same Spirit but different operation. There was a lot of confusion going on in the Corinthian Church during the services. . This is why Paul said that he that speak in an unknown tongue speak to God and edify himself because people that don't know God will not understand. When you receive the Holy Sprite gifts are in the package. Some may have the gift of tongues. This is when God is sending a message to the body of christ and someone interprets it in english. Wrong there are two types of gifts. One that comes without repentance. The bile says there are gifts without repentance Which are natural gifts that you are born with. Why is there so much confusion over this issue? The bible is clear ... "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;" (Mark 16:17) This doesn't mean that ALL Christians speak in tongues. Not everyone is given the same gift. The church is a group and the collective gifts are made up of individual gifts. "Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. I agree that many churches do not follow Paul's teaching and remain silent when they should in the Church when it comes to tongues, but that makes it no less legitimate to those who use it in order to the the edifying of the church. In 1st Corinthians it says. 13 Wherefore let him that speaks in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. 14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. Why would you have to pray that you could interpret tongues, if the spirit was leading you to speak a language that some one who was present could understand? Your spirit prays but your understanding is unfruitful, until the spirit gives you or someone else the interpretation. Read Smith Wigglesworth's book, Ever Increasing Faith, and see how in his meetings he would be prompted to speak or sing in tongues and then the interpretation would always come and many thousands would also receive healing from every form of disease imaginable. These are signs that Jesus said would follow them that believe but many don't believe that they can have what ever they ask if it is in accordance with his will which he paid the price for, our souls as well as took stripes that we could be healed. Many teach against tongues because it has been so misused but when it is used correctly it is a powerful gift and should not be forbidden according to Paul. Neither should prophecy be despised, which I have had many that encouraged me and came to pass just as spoken. Most Christians settle for a powerless Christianity that in no way resembles the faith that was once delivered unto the saints in the book of Acts that we are to contend for. God have mercy on those who preach a different gospel than the one that was delivered unto the saints.

But just because the devil seeks to counterfeit Gods kingdom with counterfeit signs and wonders doesn't mean that God isn't doing what the word says He wud do. Its the same as in the natural realm. Just because you have people counterfeiting 100 dollar bills doesn't mean that the govt isn't making real ones in abundance. The true Body of Christ who abides in the True Vine is moving in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the miraculous. I had never even though to speak in tongues nor did I learn to from others, but one day while praying in the spirit my prayer got so intense that I began to speak in tongues almost naturally! If God done away with tongues then would that mean the gifts of knowledge and the gift of knowledge ceased??? I want to know truth please the perfect is not here yet.so how can tongues stop?When the perfect has come then we will see face to face. Does it mean we need to know simply other languages please respond! I'm on a quest for total truth and understand what's being said here.!please respond asap
