As a child educator, I want to point out that children flawlessly pick up languages they hear until the age of 11. They actually end up speaking those languages fluently as they grow older. They themselves may only speak one language. But they will still be picking up other additional languages they hear. 100% That's what my mom did with me. I started with Spanish, then English, then she put me in a French School where I then had to pick another language to learn. I chose German and later learned Italian. I was once fluent in all, except German, but my speaking skills have suffered without practice. Watching this video made me so happy because it is so true! Growing up in Nigeria, my dad made us take French in school, so my prior knowledge of French made it easier for me to learn Spanish while in college here in the US. hey vira, im a bilingual mommy too. im a chicana and my man is afro american. our son is two now and can identify and say his alphabets, numbers, shapes, colors, body parts, and animals both in english and spanish. what ive learned is REPETITION IS KEY. and the earlier you start incorporating all languages, the easier it’ll be for your young to understand and hear it. i would however, suggest you speaking in french to him more frequently if its important for you that he learns it. the reason i say this, is bc once he becomes of age to go to school, english will be taught to him throughout his schooling and will eventually become their dominant language. i only speak spanish to my son and its honestly helped not only him learn it but also his father who only knows english. i found that once we laid the foundation of one language, and later introducing/translating the next made it pretty easy for him to understand both. singing and playing pretend is a great way to incorporate language development as well. every child is different and learns at different speeds so dont be pressed on how quickly he is learning, they absorb everything, itll come before you know it. be patient 🤗❤️

. I can tell you that Tato didn't understand French, but he certainly understood Elvira. She speaks Elvira to him every day .The body language and her typical reactions was why he was able to decode some of the things she was saying. Tato, believe it or not, that's your secret weapon when it comes to learning French . Elvira, l'essentiel c'est que tu continues à parler à ton fils en français. Ne sois pas inquieter s'il te dira un jour ,qu'il a mal à "my knee " par exemple, c'est normal. Tato puede tambien hablar en español con Enzo. My mom is from Belgium and my dad is from Texas. My mom only spoke French to us when we were very little, and my dad only spoke English to us. They spoke English to each other. From a very young age we could translate when our mom would tell us to go ask our dad something. Then we went to a French immersion school. I had friends in school who spoke 3 or 4 languages, but they would sometimes get the languages mixed up. I think that the fact my mom spoke only French for the first few years and dad spoke only English, it helped us to keep the languages separate and not speak "Franglais."

If you want your baby to learn French and English, complete a sentence in one language, and then say the same sentence in the other language. A friend of mine did this and her kids got both languages.

Hey guys! Vira you are doing it right girl. My children are open to learning and speaking various other languages because... I spoke English and Spanish to them as babies from the moment they were born. Also, we had a maid. She did not speak English very well. That was ok with me and my husband. I also, spoke alittle of French, German and Italian. The American whites said our child is going to become confused. They were lazy and stupid. My husband and I continued speaking various languages to them. I also, said look at the Pope. He is speaking 11 languages and he's not confused. Our 3 children have 3 degrees. They love languages. They speak more than us now. They blend in wherever they go. They just look up the languages and go for it. They speak Russian, Chinese, Japanese, English, Spanish and some Middle Eastern languages as well. I have a strong passion for languages and now my children and grandchildren do too. I have many different friends from around the world as well. So Tato and Vira keep speaking various languages to your baby. He will get it and speak it with no problems. As babies the window for learning is wide open from birth to 5 years old. Oh! I studied psychology and elementary education. Just to let you know. My kids have an associate degree, a BA degree and masters degree. They are awesome happy successful adults. God bless you 🙏 ❤. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻 😊 They were born in Panama and the USA. Hey guys, when it comes to teaching several languages to a child, I learned this method from a french/chinese family. Each parent speaks their native language to the child. For the third language tbe child learns from cartoons, children programs. 😊

I saw a couple on Instagram that are raising their daughter to be bilingual through each parent exclusively speaking a language to her. So her mum speaks to her in Spanish and her dad speaks to her in English. So in the video, the family was on a walk, and the little girl was speaking Spanish to her mum and then switched to speaking English to her dad mid sentence. It was quite interesting. The comments on the video were saying that it's a good way to teach a child multiple languages. j’aime beaucoup cette vidéo! J’apprends le francais maintenant et cette vidéo étais très intéressant. Tu parles très bien français, il ne faut pas en douter 😊 Tu devrais regarder des films, séries ou émissions en français de temps en temps pour garder ton bon niveau de français. Pour l'apprentissage du français et de l'espagnol à Enzo, je pense quil faudrait lui parler principalement en francais et en espagnol à la maison (avec un peu d'anglais de temps en temps). Il parlera l'anglais à l'école. Il y a aussi les jeux, livres de langues ou bien même des cours entre enfants pour pratiquer une langue 1-2 fois par semaine. Apres je ne sais pas vraiment comment cela se oasse aux USA.

I absolutely adore this video! You guys are so sweet. And I love that you are speaking French to little Enzo. I was born in SF, CA and my first language was Spanish, then English. And since my mom is an educator, I was put into the French American International School & the Lycée Français to learn French at the age of 3. It has been such a help in life. Merci beaucoup pour ce vidéo! I am teaching my 20 month old twin girls French and English. My first language is English. Je sais beaucoup de français mais je ne parle pas encore couramment. My sister first language is English and is fluent in Spanish so we are trying to teach our babies the language we fell in love with in school. ❤ please continue with French videos with your baby if you are able to.

Just speak French to him and around him. He’ll pick up all languages simultaneously. A babies brain is like a sponge for informations. When you reach for the cup and talk he’ll look at what you’re doing and saying and will put it together. Have him around your family when you all speak French. He’ll REALLY learn then naturally. Read up on what a child can learn during the years 0-3. It’s fascinating!
