I am more or less learning czech. It's interesting to notice how, across slavic languages, the grammar rules are mostly the same ("naj" = "nej" in czech for superlatives, but same "ši" ending for comparatives), but the radicals change. In Czech : dobrý (good) -> lepši (better) -> nejlepši (the best)

There are many similarities to Spanish and German also. Learning a third language is easier than learning a second language.

@@WolfgangSourdeau French and Spanish have many similarities. Ya and yo are similar between Ukrainian and Spanish. Ni is similar between Ukrainian and German.

Clear explanations. The exceptions to the comparatives and superlatives seem to be pretty far from the original word, kind of like English, good, better and best for example. And the three special words to convey the comparison using “than” are also unique, and can be confused with their other meanings of knife, behind, etc. Very interesting language!

I'd like to ask you for the lesson about the conjugation of the basic Ukranian verbs, especially modal ones like must, should, need .... and so on. It's very difficult ( impossible ? ) to find anything on the net, especially for those learners who are not strong enough to decode Ukrainian alphabet.

Yes, it seems realy irregular probably because (together with the gender differentiation of the comparatives) it is "synthetical" kinds of comparatives. And they are likely the products of the word - formation from this or that adjective. But in the "analitycal" there is more visible this root like masculine - більш дорогий, feminine - більш дорога, neuter - більш дороге. Still, it seems that this "analitical form" is used less often than "synthetical" one probably because the latter minimizes time and space for the spoken and written information.

In the Wiktionary кращий is pronounced krashchay. Is it a different dialect?
