There is a free webside called Family Echo which allows you to make a family tree. It's very customisable so it allows you to make it work with fantasy characters. It might be useful to keep track of the generations of dwarves once you get too many

I binged this series recently. my gosh, I love it. the story you are crafting is amazing. from an act one with monster slayers that escalates from fight to fight, building up a legend until it just... shatters. one of them dies and we skip eight years to what almost counts as an entirely different fortress, an act two. and I love that, if anything, Spearcavern as it is now is almost an entirely separate series from the first one, and I adore that.

It just came to me that the narration of this series reminds me a lot of how some of those Animal Planet shows were presented, with Narrators observing the animals and explaining what seems to be going on. Just a similarity in my head, I really enjoy the stories unfolding in this series! You do a nice job getting into the social and family stuff and making it compelling whether there is low or high stakes.

I say build a wall around the fortress top area and make an opening for cage traps to catch any animals trying to get inside (assuming this won't capture fortress visitors) and then you can either use them for live training or selling when the trade caravans arrive

See, I would but then taht'd make it so the caravans can't get in. Alternatively I could wall out the caravans, but then they might get attacked by birds when they're waiting around outside. Also, it'd make it more dangerous when our dwarves have to bring things to the depot! It's a weird balancing act at play. We got things to a pretty good place by the end of this episode though I say

If you had hundreds of dwarves in the fortress you could just set some military dwarves out there to hunt beasts but you don't have the population for that. But it is cool having these small forts where you can focus more on individuals

Regarding the pace of the episodes coming out, the quality of each one matches the time spent on it, at least for me. If you want a REALLY BIG statue, you can carve the terrain in the shape of it, or build it block by block. . I think krugg started something like this but stoped in the old series steelclutches. It would be a statue of their god of balance, with plates of gold and everything.
