Spearfishing Florida - Freediving Pinellas South Reef (April 2023)

Launching from Treasure Island, I freedive in 45ft of water and spearfish a more popular artificial reef, Pinellas South Reef. Even though I still managed to get some decent fish, my trust in public sites started to erode as I noticed the lack of life on structure that should have been swarming with it. I end the day quick and do a small catch and cook with what many think of as a trash fish; thr Jack Crevalle.

Wish you would have put this video out a week ago. Last Monday when I was diving there were a ton of small and massive Jacks all around me, all day. Never tried them yet. Personally don't believe that there is such a thing as trash, just trash cooks but already had all the snapper I need it for sashimi and ceviche. When I'm back in August or September all definitely shoot some. Thanks for the video.

Yep, really enjoy being able to head out wherever they have a marina. Reservations on the weekends are painful to get though.
