Your boat man took you to a place where no big fish at all( I think, deliberately ). Try near to the wall, look for soft corals and just a little slope. Bigger fish in Philippines, mostly dont go near to the slope, even the Jack fish stayed by the wall cliff. Try also 6 am to 8 am, and 3 pm to dusk to spear big fish. By afternoon, if you’re near the wall, you’ll see some trigger fish spawning, just be careful because they’ll chase you and bite you.

Hi, have you got golden dorado down your way? Up here off the west coast of Pangasinan , they can get pretty big 5/6 feet long. That might be a challenge with a gun tho? Lol! .
@myparadiseonbantayanisland90304 жыл бұрын
We do have dorado occasionally here in bantayan waters, and we regularly have wahoo, giant travelly, african pompano, cobia, liptee, all kinds of snappers (these are american names) however they are usually caught on hook and line. After I build my boat I will explore more and hopefully find better spearfishing locations.

Is that reez spear guns? . If so what is the length? Teak oe mohagony. Im trying to decide which ones to order. Is the wooden handle pretty sturdy
@myparadiseonbantayanisland90304 жыл бұрын
Yes mine is a reez, it is 50 inches long and the handle is ok so far. The tip of the gun it too heavy and your wrist gets tired holding up the tip. The gun is not neutral weight with spear and without the spear it does not float. Not enough wood is used to make the gun. It does work ok however the trigger has to be jiggled to get the spear to lock. No real engineering went into the desigh it just looks like a speargun and does spear fish and just has a few issues. I think it is teak, but the varnish is the cheap tanduay bottle varnish and wears off after 1 or 2 dives. I think for overall use I would get a 40 inch gun.
