I have done a lot of diving in those areas....Gt Barrier , etc etc. Can't believe your footage w the sharks ,esp the mako and the bronze whalers. You are risking your life man ! Plenty of Aussie spearos being munched here in Oz . One bite to the thigh is all it takes ! We lose surfers ,spearos ,swimmers to sharks on a weekly basis at times. But I admire your guts !

@@AquaticRehabSpearfishing You could work this up to a NZ version of the "crocodile hunter "...Shave the beard perhaps and put on some khaki clothing and sell your video to the Americans . They love it . There is a lot more competition these days but it might work .Good luck !

If the water is clean, posture toward the shark and try to get footage. If the water is dirty (poor visibility) then I would get out of the water.

Aquatic Rehab Spearfishing I'm literally phobic about sharks, I had a scary encounter and I'm not able to get beyond. You guys are so confident, I can see how the sharks are intimidated, or at least confused. I adore the ocean and feel really defeated and deprived by my terror.

I also want to agree with you regarding people ripping on you for killing fish. To them I say, Have you seen long-lining?? Or finning? Or commercial netting? The Taiwanese, Japanese? What you guys do is man against nature at its most fundamental. It's a thing of beauty!

For meat quality, stoping gut bacteria growth and keeping boat / ice bin tidy. Same reason you gut a mammal quickly in the bush.
