To any parent wanting to do this, trust me, we appreciate this stuff!!! When I was in college, sometimes my parents would gift me with a gas card, grocery card, a bit of cash, or gift card for food. They never made a big deal out of it, just snuck it somewhere in my dorm where I would see it. It literally made me want to cry sometimes because it always seemed to come just when I was super broke, but you know you don't want to admit you're suffering because you're trying so hard to adult on your own. Just trust, your kids may act like they don't need you, but they will forever and always!
@pamthompson2978

I remember when I was in college, everytime I traveled home for holidays, or long weekends, my dad would always ask for my keys. He would take my car to wash it, have the oil changed, check if anything needed replacing, and would fill my gas tank. It was always so special knowing my dad was still wanting to take care of me. He’s now 82, doesn’t get around as much as he used to. Now a days, my husband and I will bring a meal to dad and my wonderful bonus mom. Dad always says he’d rather I bring my homemade meals because it makes it easier on mama not having to cook, and because he really loves my cooking! Lol
@Banyo__
@Banyo__ Жыл бұрын
@@pamthompson2978 Your dad sounds exactly like mine. Even though I am a full fledged adult now, he still asks if I'm okay, or if I need anything, and takes care of my car if he notices something like it needs an oil change even though I tell him not to bother, but he says, "he's my dad, and that's what dad's do." I love it. Some days I find myself feeling sad that he's one day not going to be here to do what dad's do, so I spend as much time as I can with he and my mom making as many memories as we can as a family.

I loved how you blessed your adult children! Groceries are so costly right now. My mother who is 82 , is still working as a sub doing caregiving mainly to pay for groceries. With the prices going up, she is digging into her small savings for her and my 47 yr old brother who has some mental challenges /ocd each month. I recently applied for food assistance for my brother since he is the one who consumes the majority of the food. Mom still cooks for them and thankfully my brother is not a picky eater because they have leftovers fairly often. I wish I could help her out financially but do everything I can in all other areas. Hopefully prices will adjust soon in all areas so everyone can stretch our dollars more!

Being on a small disability pension I really know how much prices have sky rocketed. I have been useing food banks to get bye. Two weeks ago the church I attend runs a food bank. I can't get there on the day it's open so after church the woman that runs it gave me 3 big reuseable bags of canned goods. One of the pastors drove me home. The next day when I went to check the mail there was a box outside my door with kale salad and a bunch of vegitables in it/ The note on the box simply said "Joe I heard you mat gave a use for this:. I have no idea who this was from. I asked another tenant if she heard or seen anyone and she never heard abything. I'm just greatfull someone is watching out for me. Keep Smiling :)

I cashier at whole foods and it's so hard seeing people get a cart full of groceries I wish I could get, but I haven't gotten more than a few things at a time in months, and even then it's usually $30. It's hard wanting to cook or bake something but not having the money to do it and having to eat Ramen instead. Especially because I used to be able to, so it's hard to adjust.

I loved that you got groceries for your adult children. Food is so expensive now. I am still trying to eat healthy even with my small income.
