As a mom of a special needs child I can attest that teachers are heroes!! With all the therapy, psychiatrist, psychologist and behavioral specialist it is teachers who give me hope in humanity. Supporting our children is supporting the entire family. Also, eventhough inclusion is the goal and most parents fear their kids being separated from their peers- a self-contained classroom has benefited my son tremendously. Observable progress after stalling in general education years before. Teachers like this are gifts to society!

I literally just found your channel today. I am a man and I am new to the profession of Special Education teacher. I was literally thrown into it. I originally started as a substitute but the teacher I was supposed to be under quit within months of me starting and I was left the classroom with no experience in the field at all. It’s my second school year, last year I had 5th and 6th this year this year I have 1st grade. It’s been so hard because I’m literally learning everything on the fly while still in school to get my teacher certification. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas with us. It’s been so overwhelming for me because sometimes I don’t feel like I know what I’m doing. Just watching your channel has given me so much inspiration. Thank you so much.

I change something in my classroom every day. I have 10 students, 9 of which are in my classroom probably 80% of the day. I have no idea how teachers do it when you have such a full classroom. We can't have nice things in my classroom, lol. I started out this year with a cozy calm down corner and reading nook, but I have some kiddos that love to destroy things, tear things down, climb on things, throw things. I'm always so impressed when I see other classroom tours and see that some MSD teachers can actually have things out.

I'm studying to be a special education teacher. I LOVE the stamp/rewards system. Such a good idea to give them choices on their incentive. I especially love that every student gets a choice on an incentive even if a student didn't have the best day. I'm in a classroom management class and I need to create a classroom management plan. I am definitely adding your rewards system. I also love the dividers. I got so many great ideas from this video. Thank you.

First - you are truly amazing!! The time you have spent to carefully consider what methods will work for each of your students & being able to put them into practice is incredible! I just moved to self-contained behavior at an alternative school & I’m in a new state (I worked Setting 1-3 in a Jr/Sr. High before), and I’ve been struggling to change my systems to accommodate having the same students all day where I am teaching almost all subjects. It’s vastly different than my last program & I’ve been searching for help. Even though I work Middle/High school, I really believe some of your system will be beneficial in my classroom as well, so I’m super excited to have found your channel & I subscribed :D

+That Special Educator Ms. Braelan , Let me put it like this . Back when I was an autistic special education resource school student in My City of Shelbyville , Tennessee in the 1980s through the 1990s there was a rule of thumb and that was work comes before play regardless of how stressful the assignment(s) were and when I did not get them done in school , I got it done at home for homework and turned it in to the teacher the next school day and My Elementary School Years were My Hardest because My Teachers used a paddle to manage me and it only made me more against my teachers . Long story short , Your Students are going to LOVE you . - Dwight

I love the practice cards - this works better than trying to power struggle or coerce compliance in the middle of an outburst, and it is all about neurology. Being non-reactive when they are emotional, and later on having a moment to practice the skill means later on they are calm, collected and can access higher level cognitive functions. In the middle of an emotional upset the student can't access their reasoning/logical cognitive part of the brain. It's important to recognize that and not meet them in that emotional space and potentially escalate things. What a great channel, thanks for sharing!

I thought I would watch this as my son is non verbal and we need ideas to help him communicate with us. He's 3 and still uses baby babble. We have started a communication wall (thanks to his nursery) laminated pictures of things he wants to do, like nappy change or wash hands, things he loves to play with, that are out of reach for whatever reason. We started doing Makaton signs but they really don't help him as he's not a watcher lol. You have definitely given me some more ideas to implement in our home, like the daily schedule. He's very outdoorsy, he will happily go on a couple mile walk and still cry when it's home time and doesn't understand when we can't go because the weather is bad. So the feelings chart will also come in handy when he gets used to using it. Thank you so much ❤️

I have been a Paraeducator for 22 years and 2 years ago started college to become a Special Education teacher. I love this video and will be watching more real soon. You have some great tips, and I might even introduce some ideas to the teacher I work with now. She is great, but it is always good to have more tools in your toolbox. Anyhow, I am glad I found your channel.

This is great I needed a visual aide to see classroom behavior management in action. I’m still in school but getting less nervous to teach because of videos like these so thank you for showing your setup. :)

This is really great work Brae! Every teacher should learn this stuff. I come across so many teachers, who like you, get out of college with almost no knowledge on how to manage challenging children. You're an awesome resource!

I am studying for the TExES Special Education exam and have been looking videos like these to watch and reinforce best practices. I appreciate you and your channel SO MUCH. After the exam, I am interested in watching your videos on the schedules you use with the kids and also about the task/incomplete work system you use for behavior management. I'm most nervous about kids with the emotional-behavioral challenges so what you've described will most likely be something I try to do too!

This has been SO helpful and it’s only the first video of yours I have seen. I have subscribed and can’t wait to dig in to what else you’re doing with your kiddos. I’ve taught life skills/sped for about 3 years now but am changing grade leveled (high school to elementary) and it’s been overwhelming to think about. Thanks again so much for putting these resources together.

I'm so happy that I found this channel. I'm going to student teach fall of 2021 and so I have been looking for special educators that are on KZbin and it has been so hard. I have worked in an Autism program, resource program, and SSN program so I'm hoping to get placed in a behavior room so this was so helpful to see how you organize your room for functionality and not for looks.

Hello from Micronesia. This is the first time I've watched your videos and it's amazing and at the same time, at least for me, mind boggling--only because I've never done or seen anything so cool like this. I'm a sped teacher as well, and I've never seen so much stuff happening in a classroom. I'd like to learn a lot of the things that you mentioned here which you said you showed in your previous videos. Again thank you very much.
