Several years ago I was in a coach convoy of RAF personnel travelling into London for a Battle of Britain parade outside Buckingham Palace. We started from RAF Halton, where we had been rehearsing, we called at RAF Northolt to join up with Queens Flight and RAF Bands. From Northolt we were escorted by SEG and travelled unhindered by give way signs and traffic lights as SEG did their thing stopping at junctions and roundabouts to hold the traffic until we'd passed through. The whole experience made a memorable day even more memorable.

Interesting you call the Northern Island conflict as a war yet your government did not. Yes, they applied the SAS to try and destroy the IRA and UDA however it never worked until both sides started to realise ‘hate’ never stops and if they want the conflict to stop they need to stop the hate and so far its worked, no hate, no conflict. Im sure there are some died hard haters on both sides but they were out voted.

Such a conversion would cost far more than buying an R100RT in the first place. UK police forces bought very few R100's. West Mercia bought a few & Leicestershire, but they were few & far between. The Met. decided early on that the R80 did all they needed in town traffic, until they in turn were replaced with the K75's.

@@martynhillier6500 Most did and I did the conversions myself as the R80 was so slow mainly down to excessive weight, the useless brakes were also junked and replaced with superior units initially Italian stuff and later British brakes, Thankfully the land barges were retired quickly and replaced by real motorcycles.
