I now know I’m not the only one who does this ! You feed yours right outside your window, I feed mine right outside the glass front door on the “Welcome” mat, they get sunflower seeds, peanuts and peanuts in the shells 🥜, I call them my little friends, my cats like them, neighbors think it’s cute, been doing it the 21 years I’ve lived here 🙂

When I last lived in New York, I used to go to Madison Square Park at least twice a week and sit on a bench on the same park perimeter, bearing nuts, and the same squirrel would show up. I used to hand feed it the nuts. The squirrel would follow a pattern: bury two of every three and eat the third, as though saving up for the winter season.

I don't trust my neighbors enough to try to get my squirrels used to coming up to me so I always keep a bunch of nuts and berries out for them.
