Wow, 11 years. That's quite a lifespan for an animal this little. She seems great :)

Your RESPONSIBLE co existence with her has led to her living years longer than normal! & they show us, that they enjoy the relationship with us, as much as we do with them. I'm a firm believer in the scripture that says God gave us the animals as a gift. Everyone who interacts with them feels it, believer or not... But I'm not trying to evangelize, I'm only here to thank you for your beautiful story.

I have been studying squirrels, possums, you name it, in Massachusetts for years. I have never heard of ground squirrels. What a remarkable array of animals you have. I love this woman’s humble and thoughtful approach to being a friend to a wild animal. She took the time to identify what species Miss Bonita is, and what foods she needs. She made sure that feeding her wouldn’t cause her harm by encouraging comfort with other humans. She lets Miss Bonita guide their relationship and choose the activities they share. And she feels that she’s the one who’s received so much from their friendship ❤

Thanks for this story that contains a person's insights and observations. It's very detailed and thoughtful in a way that most of the wildlife videos are not, with the learning experience of a woman who has been able to gain so much from her close relationship with a particular ground squirrel and other wildlife she's come to see with more understanding and appreciation.
