I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who has put in a back seam out of necessity! I like this pattern. I have trouble fitting knit dresses because I have a large bust and without darts, I really don't like how they look on me. Great video! Very classy dresses! You look amazing in them both! I really appreciated the techniques you showed us. I’m falling in love with this pattern. I bought it through Itch to Stitch newsletter email. I’m going back to work soon in healthcare administration and I need professional conservative garments and this dress fits the bill! I’m very happy for you that you where able to get out and be with some girlfriends for the day! How fun! That’s so important. I feel the same at my house, my husband does not talk much on a good day, just how it is. You described just how I feel sometimes, about to burst, I just gotta let it out and communicate and share! And get input from others. I hope your throat is better soon. Gargle with salt water (careful not to swallow) and keep drinking those fluids! 🥰

I live alone, so I do understand the voice problem. I meet with 3 friends for coffee and chat on a Sunday and Monday/Tuesday, I always soreness. I use my voice so little through the week that Sundays wear it out. I also prefer darted patterns and have no qualms about sewing multiple darts. Without darts, I might as well be wearing a sack. Mine is a body that demands darts.

I love this pattern because of the darts.. I'm not large busted but do need those darts to create the bodice shape that doesn't just hang.
@brendamyers33672 жыл бұрын
I have added darts to knit tops and bodice on my own. So far I haven’t sewed a knit pattern with a drafted dart in the bodice.I don’t mind the darts in knits because the garment fits better and looks nice.
@patriciabentley37822 жыл бұрын
They both look lovely on you, I love how you always get a good fit. I have the pattern (using your link) but I'm having trouble finding a fabric I like. All the designs I'm attracted to are ITY, I suppose that's too light. I love the sleeveless dress, those colours suit you so well.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
I would use ITY. What I’d do it double up on the fabric on the front and back. Two layers and make them act as one. I’ve done this many times before :)
@judithglavas90302 жыл бұрын
I think that darts add form to a garment. I don’t mind sewing darts. When I was younger I looked on them as a “necessary evil”.
@carolynhoppe31962 жыл бұрын
Gorgeous. Love this dress pattern. I have already bought the pattern. I like darts also since the fit is usually better. I don't necessarily need the full bust option, but I am going to try it and see if I can just reduce the depth of the dart a little bit so I can take advantage of the waist to bust darts.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
For sure you can tweak the dart :)
@debm4602 жыл бұрын
I love darts for shaping. I’m a D cup and clothes look better when there is a dart. In knit patterns, you often don’t find them. I find that the side bust area crinkles anyway to accommodate. I’ve only come across one t shirt pattern that had it (Burda). The fit was spot on and smooth. The only problem was sewing the knit fabric. I had little sewing experience and was just starting out.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
I’ve see darts with Cashmerette patterns and the fit is great. Otherwise, hard to find.
@lynnew56192 жыл бұрын
If you want a great fit, darts are a necessity. They’re not difficult really if you measure correctly for placement. I like the sleeveless dress best. Very pretty.
@cherylp.33472 жыл бұрын
You asked if we like sewing darts. I just finished P. E.’s newest dress with bust darts from the side and below. I mucked it up badly. I had to do a FBA, and following along with her video I thought it went ok. I always have to lengthen the bodice, did that. I had to grade out at the waist. It was gaping at the back so stitched a center back seam to take some of that out. Also stitched up the cf seam , bottom darts ended up not under the apex. And I have excess fabric where the side darts are. 😭. It was one of those horrible sews that didn’t improve the further I got into it. I even thought of scrapping it before attaching the skirt. Hubby says it looks great but I see the problems. It was rayon so maybe that contributed to the problems. It’s put me off darts for now. Your makes look great!
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
I can totally blame rayon. It grows and stretches out a lot. I’d try with a light cotton lawn and see. The fabric is more stable and the darts tend to behave better. I hope you are able to try again someday 😀
@cherylp.33472 жыл бұрын
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles thanks. You’ve restored my confidence a little bit. Time to get back on the (bust dart) horse as they say and try again.
@heatherpenman39062 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the tutorials. Your dresses look lovely. I wondered about where you ended up with the bulky seam in the second one, how about trimming into the seam allowances at a 45 degree angle? After sewing for many years, I have started doing that lately, and it really helps with the bulk. Kindest regards, Heather x from New Zealand x

Where do you purchase your fabric from? Minerva? Stylemaker, etc.? I like the red, black and white scuba fabric. What do you think about on the Sovana dress with short sleeves as oppose to long sleeves? When you sew the facing to the front bodice. Did you cut in the "v" on the seam allowance. so it would lie flat when you furn to the inside? It look stunning. Well done.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
I live in Brazil and purchase locally, not with international brands. If you watch the sewing segment, you’ll see I sniped into the V. I think you have not seen it, hence your question. I’m usually for a long or sleeveless option but making the sleeves short would be very easy.
