@@ginger0208 The SA forces back in the 70's and 80's were recognised as world class by America, Britain and France. They had a lot of combat experience and were predominatly white. I read a report a couple of years back that put them on a par with Ethiia for military capability. Todya's SA forces aren't even a shadow of what they one were. The Recces are military and the Special Task Force are police. That said, they do the same course because when the Task Force was started, it was Recce instructors giving the Recce course to police recruits.

Our lesser elite police units in SA like TRT do more than American soldiers do in basic and air assault school...the guys in this video, the Special Task Force, are more likely compared to the SAS than anything else. The "Special Task Force" is a police unit. The "Special Forces” ("Recces") is a collection of military regiments, namely 4 SFR (Langebaan, WC) & 5 SFR (Phalaborwa, LP). They are not at all the same.

Seem to be a lot of experts on fuckall here. At then end of the day a soldier goes where he is told to by his country which is a usually a reflection of the system of politics in place. Soldiers these days voluntarily sign up knowing they might die in a conflict. If you are going to be too overly concerned with the politics of the day then you lose all objectivity in war. To those who never served you have the luxury of not having to because others served before your time.

This video isn't of soldiers though, some later went into military yes but this compilation is of a Police Unit, they aren't Military and operate under civilian law, there are instances when they join Military to counter terrorism but mainly still have civilian matters they deal with on a daily basis. One of the most toughest Police Units in the world, just by looking at them you think military. they tactical and take swift action. Sometimes quicker than military because they adept to more violence on a daily basis and know how to handle people, the aim is not to kill people but to make sure everyone comes out alive and that's what they do. They the only unit i respect on the force.

@Basement Dweller I completely agree with you, SA would be great and even an African superpower like it was back in the day, in the army(SADF) black and whites fought side by side and didn't see colour that's why they were affective, the politicians messed up by dividing the South Africans which made it easier for SA to fall from grace, It's this that also gave the ANC the upper hand, I can only imagine how great SA would be if the NATIONAL PARTY didn't segregate SA but focused on how SA can move forward in unity. and THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT ISN'T DOING THAT either.
