I was deep into my first time carnivore when she started I watched her from her beginning, my wife was the one who saw her first vids and knowing I was carnivore suggested I watch her. I cycled one and off carnivore three times to see what affects the food had and what affect the diet had. I’m now carnivore and definitely am not doing anymore SAD I know all I need now.

Im glad I decided to watch this. I haven’t gotten any feedback from ANYBODY I’ve asked about the workouts and getting sore. I tell people and they look at me like yeah you’re not working hard enough. Not to mention the gains have been STUPID FAST!!! I have to keep going back and looking at pics and the calendar and I’m like no it’s only been a few weeks. I started pushups and couldn’t do 13 in a set. Today someone asked about it and I was like well I haven’t done a max rep set in a week. I dropped and started doing pushups and knocked out FOURTY TWO!!! In ONE set!!! I’m almost 50. THATS NUTS!!! And NEVER felt it. Went to failure and not even the slightest hint in ANY muscle!!! I don’t think I know what to make of it myself and it’s me. How’s anyone else gonna believe it??!! Haha

I tried Carnivore a few years ago and stopped because I was weak and let the lockdowns get the best of me. Dr. Chaffee has truly inspired me to never look at food the same way again. His calm, rational, and friendly approach will hopefully save millions over time. He embodies the results of this diet. I’ll never have his physique, but I’m starting to quit hating myself when I look in the mirror. I haven’t even started with the digestive and skin health benefits I’m starting to see. Thank you Dr. Chaffee from the bottom of my heart 🙏!

I've been carnivore for 5 years now. I typically drink 2 cups of coffee per day. I've dropped all coffee as a test on a few occasions but didn't notice any benefit so I went back to coffee because I enjoy it. Since going carnivore I've found that I really have to deliberately overdue it in order to feel even mild muscle soreness. Even then it quickly dissipates. Carnivore is the best.

Fabulous podcast. Thank you. Glad that you shared thoughts on eating disorders because it resonated with me. I suffered from Bulimia for 10 years, aged 24 to 34 and thereafter had tons of gut health issues. The eating disorder was came about due to a need to satiate something I was lacking. I used cheap carbs to soothe myself and then purge because of self discust. I was obsessed with food because I was on a merry go round of hunger, overfull, purge and wierd blood sugar swings. I avoided all meat and fat, believing them to be bad. I would be interested if carnivore could be used as a healing therapy for people with eating disorders.

Cassava and casaba sound very similar, especially in spanish, but they are very different things. I actually didn't realize you'd been mistakenly referring to the casaba melon until today. Cassava is a root and is also known as yuca, arrowroot, and tapioca. Your cyanide point is absolutely correct. Cassava is highly toxic raw or improperly cooked. Casaba melons on the other hand, are perfectly safe (disregarding the carbs, of course). Great interview! Would that I had her all in mentality. I was watching your interview with Kelly Hogan before this; it's interesting that Bella's story is almost identical to Hogan's: Both found that when they went carnivore, they craved meat and fat for a few months, and started getting fatter. They both decided not to worry about the weight gain, but instead to trust the process and let themselves eat as much as they wanted. Then (in both cases), at the end of 6 months, it was like a switch flipped and the weight started coming off, leaving them both in excellent health. As Kelly put it, it was like her body was craving nutrients they had been missing; for both women, it took six months to satisfy that craving.

Not true, Anthony, when my then 2-year old son, in the MOST adorably grown-up voice, said to me, "Stop singing, Mommy!" Lol 😂🤣 (he's 32 his next birthday and whenever this is mentioned, we laugh until it literally HURTS!!) Hahahaha!! Thank you so much to BOTH of you for all the videos, all the information, because I'm just starting my carnivore journey, knew nothing about it, but have learned so much from you both!! 😊❤💕

Lol this is funny. I'm not Carnivore yet (Ketovore) but I've managed to cut my caffeine down to just one cup of coffee in the morning and have been seriously considering cutting that out too. I think you've convinced me. I want to eventually get to Carnivore but taking it one step at a time. Thank you Dr. Chaffee for all that you do! Bella - yep, FreeLee and DurianRider. Plus Forks Over Knives and Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. I only lasted 6 months. I lost weight but my body was screaming at me the whole time.

Over 40 years a coffee drinker though never with sugar I stopped cold turkey 3 days ago. Yes headache, fatigue and down right confusion and not used to feeling this crummy. Like Steak and Butter Gal, I set a goal and stick with it and I'm done. I'm feeling OK but now I guess I have to let it go for 2 weeks to know the habit it over.

I've learned to listen to my body more . When I learn fully I guess I won't have to be so focussed . I am reducing my fasting regime . According to Dr Chaffee it isn't necessary , right?

Well thank you, I'm really glad that we could help. And I hope your parents listen too, it certainly made a huge difference for my parents. I really hope they do my dad never did he first had emergency heart surgery and then two years later this. New Year’s Eve, he had a series of minor strokes and then he had two major strokes while on highest blood thinners which Drs called impossible. He died two days later I know if I’d got the research of people like Dr Chaffee rather than just my reactions, he would’ve been more likely to have tried it. I myself have had self diagnosed heart trouble (former emt and fire department) I know that in one month I am in perfect condition and can do unimaginable things on carnivore all symptoms gone. I also know when I went back to SAD a few times, it all came back within two months (my theory is the arteries are still inflamed a little and reintroducing the bad stuff causes a rapid plaque patch to form putting me back at stage one.) After studying the effect of going on and off three times, I am staying carnivore from now on. Good luck.

@@JohnHBatte I’m sorry for your loss, my mother had a stent surgery and on blood thinners plus aspirin. She was experiencing bleeding at times, she also had a minor stroke which was not detected until her big stroke months later, that took her life. She was 73 and a type two diabetic. I wish i could have introduced her to this way of eating.

Great podcast. Always very informative Dr. Chaffee. You mention a lot of studies in your podcasts, is it possible to provide the links? People trust you when you, as an MD cite them, but if I’m trying to convince others to try the diet just saying “studies show” doesn’t cut it. Just a suggestion. Again, thanks for the great content. How about an episode with a t1 diabetic on carnivore? 🍞☠️

I'm fascinated with the no salt thing Bella does. I need to know more. I actually think salt makes me more thirsty and in return I drink a lot more water which makes me need more salt like an endless cycle and yet even though I consume a lot of real salt plus electrolyte drinks I still have leg cramps at night. I'm wondering if I removed all salt, drink less water if I'll stop having cramps? Also curious, because she only drinks like 2 cups of water with her coffee a day if she gets uit's?
@garyfinch1840

Yes. There are many varied salt stories in the carnivore space. I believe it's related to each individuals level of kidney damage. Someone in their 40s on a standard diet would already have damage due to glycation which potentially changes the sodium retention capabilities. Switch them to carnivore and the sodium balancing act begins.
@anthonychaffeemd

Most often from what I've seen, leg cramps come from dehydration as opposed to low electrolytes. So you can salt to taste, or not at all, but try upping your water and see how you go

@@Livingtabitha I actually had the leg cramp problems for 2.5 months after starting carnivore and only came across the cause by accident. I tried adjusting my salt, electrolyte and hydration levels endlessly trying to sort it out with no success. Eventually, I went on holidays for a couple of weeks and after about a week, the cramps went away. Figured what had changed in my diet while on holidays and found I had really reduced my bacon intake. Did some googling and found some great research from the states that confirm that excessive nitrate intake can cause severe leg cramping, especially if there is any dehydration as Dr Chaffee said. I have now learnt to control my bacon intake and if I up it too much, the cramps return. Might not be relevant for you, but saved my bacon (pardon the pun) after going carnivore and having leg cramps every night for 10 weeks.
@Livingtabitha
@Livingtabitha 2 жыл бұрын
@@craigbickley oh this is fascinating! I eat so much bacon. Sometimes 2-3 times in a day. At least a pound a day. I'm actually very hydrated. I drink at least 48 ounces of water a day and I'm very small and I don't work out. I pee constantly. I thought maybe I was drinking too much water but maybe it is the bacon.

Love your video. I was wondering about the information - also anecdotal, but by people I respect, about middle age women who developed hypothroidism on long term keto. Do you have thoughts about it, Dr? I am tempted to go carnivore and am a little hesitant
@anthonychaffeemd
@anthonychaffeemd 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's a very good question, And there can be many reasons for this, none of which will be from lack of carbohydrates or just eating as we are biologically designed to eat. Think of it this way, if only eating meat and no carbohydrates would destroy your thyroid, how do the inuit exist? Hypothyroidism can be life-threatening, and when you are hypothyroid and pregnant you will seriously damage the fetus and cause cretinism. They have severe developmental delays and intellectual delays, and so if all of them were getting this every generation you would see it very quickly because they would all be dying out. Sometimes it's due to low iodine, and other times it's just that your body doesn't require as much thyroid hormone as you used to, and so your numbers show low. Also just looking at your free t3 and t4 is not an actual indication of the functionality of your thyroid medication in your body. You have to look at reverse t3 and other markers to actually see how it is functioning in your cells. Your plasma t3 and t4 don't tell you this. So unless you have an endocrinologist who is doing the real in-depth tests for thyroid, I wouldn't get to work up about a low score. Also I have been doing this for 10 of the last 20 years and my thyroid and reverse thyroid are perfect. So the people telling you that being on long-term keto or carnivore is bad for you simply don't understand the fundamental premise which is humans are carnivores as a species. That is our biologically appropriate diet, and you cannot have deficiencies or defects cause from diet if you are eating your biologically appropriate diet. By definition. Maybe if you have some rare and heretofore unknown disease, but even then you aren't going to fundamentally change the kind of animal you are, which is a carnivorous one. I hope that helps!
