Being a rabbit owner myself I can really understand the owner's determination! And that little bunny looked so happy to be able to run around again. I am so glad there are people like this that care enough about their pets to go above and beyond for them! They give us so much, and I'm glad to see the favour can be returned. Best of luck to the rolly polely little bunny!

I've worked with people who have paralysis for most my adult life. I am going to go out on a limb here and say, if this is not a progressive disorder, then I think this bunny has every chance to walk again one day. I see it is moving it's hind legs pretty well, and seems to be doing it in response to the woman's movement's. With a lot of work, the bunny could be free of the wheel chair some day.

What a remarkable woman and an amazing bunny. I wish there were more people in the world who saw things this way. She had hope for this rabbit when no one else did and her efforts are showing, as the rabbit continues to improve. Anyone who is willing to give "daily bottom baths" to a rabbit alone is a trooper, but this woman is INCREDIBLE!. Would be lovely to have an update!

MI LAU if you don't mind me asking how did you go about building the wheel chair? I have a recently paralyzed dwarf bunny and he can't move his hind legs at all. I've been looking for any sites that sell wheelchairs specifically for bunnies because I'm afraid a small dog wheel chair will be too large. Do you have any suggestions on how to build one?

I have two 3-legged bunnies and both are happy and bouncy and playful. They have as much right to live as any 4-legged bunny, if not more because of what they went through; both came from backyard breeders where they broke a leg which was then neglected.

this made me cry a lot because I had bunnies and since I was teeny girl I loved rabbits sooo much more than any other pets. I cried for a pet rabbit, and my bunnies died from illness, Theirs still nights I cry about it. This makes me so sad that she can't use her legs, but so happy how much love she is given and so much hope is put into the care of the rabbit and the hope and recovery the rabbit is going through. I wish more owners would love their animals so much than putting them to sleep.

I have a rabbit of my own who was paralyzed from the hips down and he regained the use of one leg, but the other had to be amputated. He's still incontinent and I take care of his needs, and he's a healthy and happy bunny. But when people hear his story and see him in person, they like to say "awe, poor bunny!" and look at him like he's the sadest rabbit in the world. I stop them right there and I tell them "Pity isn't going to make him better, love and care will."

I wonder how she did after this? I adopted two special needs rabbits with rear leg problems and I noticed after a time that the front legs eventually gave out from having to support weight on their own (they can't be in the wheelchair 24/7). I wonder how this rabbit did over time?

Ethel's wheelchair was indeed our first rabbit model. So, technically, it WAS our prototype. Thanks to Ethel and her wonderful "bunny cam" video, hundreds more bunnies have gotten the wheels they need to live a long happy life. We thank Ethel and Zoe for being willing to experiment and help us perfect our cart. They opened the door for disabled rabbits all over the world to have the wheels they need. "Pathetic", maybe, but all great things have to start somewhere, right?

I agree with this woman. If you wouldn't put down a human for the same disability, why would you put down an animal? And a wheelchair, if this is a permanent condition.

ooh...maybe a platform to keep the feet protected and not dragging, it looked like she might skin her toes if she can't feel it...then again it seems that didn't happen so must have been an optical illusion
@mandysmith76199 жыл бұрын
if you noticed her legs are now starting to move on there own, which means a nervous system, so the chances are she can feel, also the fact that she CAN feel the floor moving beneath her toes, is whats encouraging movement to begin with, which she hasn't done before since this problem occurred.
@btlrcelt8 жыл бұрын
This bunny should be checked for E Coniculi,it's the most common reason for hind end weakness like this,and it's quite treatable with medication. It's estimated that 50% of rabbits in the UK carry the disease,most without effect,but some develope this symptom.

Last year, my 12 year old rabbit broke his leg running in my garden. All the time we moved him, moved the break, and basically fiddled with him, he didnt react at all. Animals hide pain, its how they prevent themselves being picked off by predators. Show no weakness. There is no way of knowing if this animal is happy, andd the owner obviously loves it a lot, but the line has to be drawn somewhere, and its not an easy choice to make. I dont believe any existence, is better than none at all.

I am already in the process of ordering a "wheelchair" for my Buster who lost the use of his hind legs 2 weeks ago quite suddenly. The vets have ruled out trauma and pathogen as the cause and I would struggle to find £5000 plus for an MRI and surgery, especially when there is no percentile outcome, so I am very grateful for this video that just re-Enforces that I am doing the right thing by Buster who is so not ready to give up and go quite yet! Thank you.

Okay, it's impossible for me to decide whether I should laugh hysterically or weep openly or both at the same time. On one hand, it's so great the bunny is alive. On the other hand, her situation is so sad, but on one foot (I ran out of hands), it's absolutely the most hilarious thing to watch. Then I go back to crying but being confused about why.

Experienced house rabbit people know the signs of when a rabbit is in pain, even if it doesn't "speak." Responsible owners have also had the rabbit checked out at the Veterinarians and so I have full confidence the rabbit has been evaluated correctly. Don't worry, the rabbit is getting the best care.
