I underwent US Special Forces training in 1968/69 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. We were the new kids on the block in counterinsurgency warfare, and took our cues from Great Britain... we adopted their Royal Marines' green beret, and were all inspired by their motto, translating into "Who Dares, Wins"... We came up with our own: "De Oppresso Liber"., "Freedom For The Oppressed"... Cheers, Mates!

The Green Berets have fuck all to do with the RMs.. They don’t even have the same missions. Royal Marines are predominantly a unilateral, hybrid, shock infantry while the Green Berets are bilateral and focus on capacity building and foreign internal defense. The brand new UK Ranger Regiment that was created 2 years ago was literally based on the modern US SF ODAs and their charter as an organization.. Are you a Brit that just masquerades online as a Yank Serviceman? 😂😂😂 BTW,, What the hell does anything that you said here have to do with the SRR? Its quite funny that the Americans learned CT and COIN primarily from the Brits, but when it comes to Special Operations Special Reconnaissance, its the Americans that came up with the idea first of a specialized unit employed behind enemy lines with the sole purpose of gathering special tactical intelligence by forming the Field Observations Group (now known as the ISA), the Brits followed through when they identified this need for an operational intelligence unit in their 2002 strategic defense review. That's not true. The Special Forces green beret in the US Army has nothing to do with the Royal Marines/SBS green beret. SF is also nothing like the SBS. SF draws its lineage from some PTO Scouts groups, the 1st Special Service Force, and OSS in WW2. SF has always had a focus on unconventional warfare and foreign internal defence, the SBS is a naval special ops unit that always focused on direct action. @joesgotya99303 жыл бұрын
False.. the US equivalent of the SRR is the INSCOM SMU “ISA” aka Centra Spike... This is an easy fact to provide being the UK emulated the ISA to create the SRR and 18th Signals reg. The RRC are a different animal with a different role

UKSF has a lot of branches, SRR is part of that. And a female has passed SRR selection.

Special recon is very dangerous ops.. Many death record, captured, tortured... . I think its not relevant anymore now. We can get same Intel with drone. We have satelit for precise air strike

British equivalent of the US Army Great Skills program?
@briank86974 жыл бұрын
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer GSP is a US Army INSCOM G3 program. Their selection program is classified TS. With Great Britian being a 5 eyes partner, it would make sense they have something like ours. SAS sends their people to our HALO course

@WhoDarestheMAN gamer if anything the US copied us.

WhoDarestheMAN gamer Incorrect. Members of the SAS are indefinitely attached to the US Delta Force for full 6 month deployments. Also receive drone training and HALO assessments in California.

@JammyDodger453 жыл бұрын
They don't do any of it. They have a totally different course and objectives.
@thermaldog3 жыл бұрын
@@JammyDodger45 but they are classed as UKSF and I thought to become UKSF you had to do the selection test, same as SAS..?
@JammyDodger453 жыл бұрын
@@thermaldog - they are 100% a UK SF asset, but the Selection process is still different, run at a different time to the SAS/SBS course, by different staff in a different way. SF come in many different guises.
@G4x5da3 жыл бұрын
18 Signal Reg and SFSG are also UKSF but they don’t go trough the same selection. SAS/SBS have similar skill sets that needed to be tested than a SRR operator.
@tonyb12233 жыл бұрын
They still have a selection and vetting process, there is still a lot of physical training involved but their objectives are different to the likes of the SAS and SBS so the training will reflect this, and its still a course with a high failure rate for those who attempt it.
