Beautiful video, thanks. I wish I'd seen it before my last trip to Paris. A few years ago, I rented an apartment around the corner from La Caféotheque so used to hang out there (but it's expensive!). My most recent trip I stayed up near Buttes-Chaumont so I adopted Ten Belles as my local. There's a long-established high quality coffee culture here in Australia, and I notice that a few key Paris coffee people are escaped Aussies. KB Café was started by Aussies - KB stands for "kookaburra" an Australian bird with a distinctive look and call.

Hey Mike thanks for your message. Glad you enjoyed the video! I was just in Oz a month back and absolutely loved the coffee and brekky game down there, simply unattainable elsewhere in the world! That being said, the coffee scene is getting stronger by the year in Paris and KB is one of my favorites! Good call on the bird, it’s definitely a reference to it, however, although people might think aussies started KB, the owner is actually French and a good friend of mine. He opened KB after being inspired by Aussie culture while living there for a bit 😎🙏🏽

@@Puxan Hi Puxan, thanks for your reply. I heard that KB was started by Aussies, then was sold to current owners. I stand corrected. I've been to KB a few times, great place.

Hey @Puxan! I'm run a speciality coffee roastery in India and I'm traveling to Paris in the summer for a bit. Would love an updated list of your favourite speciality coffee shops/roasters in Paris. Cheers!

What a great film. I live in the area where Jay used to (GEG) and we have great third wave coffee. It's great to see even 4.5 years ago that these roasters and baristas were doing cuppings, and latte art. If you ever come visit check out #roasthousecoffee #indabacoffee. Roast House goes a step further in getting organic beans.

Third wave coffee, hope it keeps going. Would be great to have more options for higher quality coffee in Paris (especially filter like chemex/V60 variations). Aside from new coffee shops, I hope that the existing cafes would update their coffee culture to reflect the new appreciation of flavor. Great video!

Glad you enjoyed it :) There's been many coffeeshop openings since (Over 60/70 specialty coffeeshops now in Paris) and quality standard is now the issue to work on. I have my 5/6 staple ones that I'm sure for for quality, but we're getting there !

So beautifully done. I wish Scandinavia would have a similar revolution. When I arrived in Sweden 10 years ago and saw the insane amounts of coffee consumed I assumed I had arrived among coffee snobs. Not so, far too often to be comprehended they are spending far too much money on truly atrocious coffee.

I actually had my first specialty espresso in a market in Copenhagen in 2012, absolutely loved it! In France, there's a big admiration for the Scandinavians and their work in that field, how's the coffee scene these days? I'm sure Stockholm must be good no? I would love to come check out some time, it's been on my travel list for a while !

I've been without internet since I posted this so I haven't been able to reply. I know that in Oslo there are some places roasting coffee locally and perhaps even in some of the larger cities here in Sweden. I live in a tiny town but even in my travels to larger towns the MAJORITY of the coffee drunk has been rather like this video describes the situation in France. Now, for sure, when you go to the store, there is a whole aisle of different roasts and types of coffee and yet a huge percentage of the people I know buy one of the same two brands. It's fine but uninspired. I would really be interested to follow your journey in Scandanavia if/when you make one. Sweden's every day fair is about the most boring food I've ever encountered but I do know that a lot of folks working at higher levels in the food industry are really TRYing to garner a better reputation for the country. One thing I've noticed in the 10 years I've been here is more and more influence from outside food cultures creeping in to the food vocabulary here. Even in my small town, more exotic ingredients than before are showing up on the grocery store shelves and in the food magazines. I'm curious to look back in 20 years and see what the whole migration of folks from the middle east will have given Scandanavia in terms of food culture. I can only imagine it as extremely positive. :D

That would be interesting to see indeed, as well as in many other european countries I feel ! I will definitely let you know if/when I make it to Scandanavia -- I'll produce some content of the coffeeshops there for sure :)

Thank you so much ! Apologies for the late reply, I'm just getting back into the KZbin world these days. In terms of music, it was remixed by a friend of mine for the documentary, not really sure you can find them online but I'll check with him.
