Well... we need to remember that this knowledge "perfectly work" on "perfectly working bodies" ... People that exercises 4+ weekly for years and almost always calculate and weight their foods... Make a study with someone eating ad libitum or with hormone disorders (generate by previous food and habit) and no exercises and you´ll see how the kind and procedence of food matters... We just can´t say that Poliquin´s work was a waste of time...

@@tomisaacson2762 you actually can but it's better to do it with Macaroni. Just boil the Mac first, Than put the raw chicken in Ketjap or Soja and a teaspoon of black pepper and maybe salt and let it soak in (please wash it with water and vinegar first) Than cut half a onion or I prefer 1 shalot and mash 2 toes of garlic. And cut 2 tomatoes. Also cut some small pieces of red paprika as well for at the end. Than put 1,5 spoon of oil, and place the chicken in the pan and add the onion, garlic and tomatoes and let the chicken get well, and add some more soja or ketjap to get some layer of 'gravy'. Also put a 'Bouljon Block' for more taste. Than when it's all boiled just add the boiled Macaroni on a lower fire and just mix it with some 'Aromat seasoning' . And at the end add the pieces of paprika (you can also add a bit of maïs if you want) and mix that as well. It's almost the same as with rice only its less fried, it is more of a 'wannabee Bami dish' 😅

It's honestly kinda weird how we talk about fitness and diet. There's basically three camps as I see it. There's the camp that says things like "all diets are bad" and "weight loss is unsustainable and/or impossible" and "our bodies are wise, if your body wants food, feed it all the food it wants." There's the camp that's like "do this weird thing doctors don't want you to know to to lose weight" and "eat this specific food to get that summer beach body you want" and "how to lose 17 pounds in three weeks!" One group thinks that obesity is healthy or at least unavoidable, and the other believes in miracle cures. Thank goodness for people like RP, helping out the third group, the group that thinks things like: "weight loss is slow and boring but totally doable for most people," "healthy eating is pretty simple actually, just eat mostly veggies, fruit, lean meats, seeds/nuts, whole grains, etc, and minimise (but no need to completely eliminate) junk food," and "healthy living is more a matter of following basic principles than any sort of specific 'do this' strategies."

My own experience with diet is that it's *critical* that the food consists of things you reasonably like and don't find it a chore to eat. A diet that is marginally "sub-optimal" but is composed of stuff you at least somewhat enjoy :will beat the pants off a diet that is "perfect" (whatever that means) but which you keep dropping out of because it means eating things you can't stand. It takes very few ill-disciplined weekends to wipe out a very marginal gain from eating rice instead of pasta for example.

Yes it can be done as far as including all essential vitamins and minerals but would take some work as the diet would need to be populated with varied organ meats. Hearts, livers, kidneys, and brains, for instance. If you wanted to look into it a bit more then you can look into the studied diets of far northern peoples like the Inuit whom traditionally had very low rates of heart/cardiovascular disease and cancer in relation to modern diets for instance. It's interesting stuff, good question.

Before the anti low Carb crowd comes around: yes carbs are needed for optimal hyperthrophy and back in my Diet. Veggies are great if you like them but not needed if you get micros from other sources. Disagree when you include satiety as a category in there. It's pretty clear that someone who eats 300 calories of almonds, vs peanut butter, and vs olive oil, is going to be more satiated. I'd expect exactly all three of these in that order. Pure oil is not a satiating food. There is a satiety index of foods that is pretty well recognized scientifically. Foods with high fiber, protein and water content are better for satiety than pure fat can ever be. Micronutrient density also plays a part in reducing hunger, so a food like broccoli which has more fiber, more nutrients, and more protein is going to be better than green peppers.

I think digestibility is a huge thing here, which you briefly address at the end. If you can’t digest it and absorb it efficiently, it’s not gonna work well.

Plus as Dr. Mike has commented elsewhere, “supplements” can mess with your digestion. That’s probably why so many pros swear by white rice.

Generally definitely true, but the details do matter sometimes - certain proteins have exceptionally high vitamin/mineral content over others. E.g oysters have enormously more amounts of zinc than basically anything else, clams have massively more vitamin B12 than anything else. Something like squid in general has way more healthy minerals than steak/chicken, while having just as much protein etc. I guess for aesthetics these may not make much of a difference, but overall health it most likely does.
@mallow51
@mallow51 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe? Maybe not? If you're already covering your micronutrient needs, does it really make sense to choose squid over chicken if the sole reason is "more healthy minerals"?
@trtnec
@trtnec 2 жыл бұрын
@@mallow51 I don’t think you’re disagreeing with me. My point is it probably would matter if you’re not covering them (minerals like copper, iron, selenium, zinc, phosphorus, all b vitamins). And chances are most people in western countries are indeed lacking at least some those due to eating certain foods habitually and not supplementing

It’s true though, i switched to pasta from rice because i love pasta and not rice. Keep noticing gains on a bulk / weightloss when im on a deficit. It’s just that if you love something, just do it if you have self control. Hell i could eat myself into a food coma every time i eat pasta if i wanted to, but i choose not to on a diet and it’s helpful when i’m bulking

Same effect makes sense. For me it comes down to digestibility. I eat my beef at lunch and have chicken for dinner. The chicken seems to digest faster for me and doesn't cause bad heartburn at night. Rice or even potatoes over any type of gluten sources. I seem to go into a brain fog and get absolutely exhausted when I eat gluten sources. Back to chicken, I can eat a chicken breast and feel full of energy after about an hour. But with beef, I feel sluggish. So, "when" I eat each type of meat seems to be a bigger deal for me personally.

may be a stupid question but, you say white rice, pasta, white bread and brown rice are exactly the same in terms of bodily response. Obviously If you are in surplus or deficit your body will adapt accordingly. But, what about elevated blood sugar levels from high GI carbs and low GI carbs?

It is so helpful that you not only have the education in this area but you have the hands-on knowledge as well. That’s where you can see where literature fails in reality kicks in. I have recommended this channel so many times. I’m a guy who wants to have an in shape dad bod. I was 271. I’m 5 foot 10. I started watching my macros. I cut fairly easily to 225. I did it in six months. I ate 2500 cal a day until I hit my goal. I set my macros like you suggested. And it eliminated my cravings for junk food. I had myself tested. I’m 17.2% body fat. That’s as lean as I want to be. 35 pounds and no one even knew I lost weight. I was pretty thick. The fun thing is I maintained my lean body mass of 185. I would not have guessed I had 46 pounds of fat. I didn’t look fat I just look like a powerlifters. Although some of those look fat so maybe I did😅. I have a six pack. Thank you again for explaining how this shit really works

Damn, now I have to throw all my peanut butter out and go buy some almonds. 0.2 lbs over 12 weeks might not be much, but extrapolate that over 10 years. That’s the difference between first place and second place at my local body building show.
