moved to texas from Illinois and have been in love with saltwater fishing ever since. People like you are literally the only way I’m able to learn locations/lures/techniques/etc. and I can’t tell you how valuable it is and how much I appreciate it!!

Welcome to the Texas coast!!!! If you are brand new- I would highly, highly recommend something called "Salt Strong". It will definitely help you get started. If you don't have a boat- you can still fish- just walk in!

PEOPLE !! I have lived here in South Texas my entire life, and have fished San Luis since I was a kid. LISTEN TO ME ! There is a very dangerous rip current caused by a moving channel in the soft sand that goes through San Luis. the majority of the Pass is maybe 36-60 inches deep, but there is a ever moving, ever changing channel that cuts through very soft, fine sand that kills people every year. The majority of the time, it is people after flounder in the fall that slip off into that channel and then dont come back up because the current just sucks you under and away....I know this first hand...I survived. I fell into the channel, from waist deep to over my head. I shucked my gear, dropped my rod, hit bottom and pushed up towards the surface. Instead of fighting the current, I went with it, and cut a slight, soft angle towards shore. Not everyone is that lucky. Once that sand starts to fall apart under you, youre gone. Always wear a PFD out there, and try to not go in past your knees. it is worst on the Southwest side , but again, that channel moves. San Luis Pass is deadly. It is NOT safe for young people or weak swimmers. I got lucky....listen too me, dont try your luck.

Listen to this statement it will save your life. Never fish here with some sort of floatation device attached to you.

I know that exact spot you are fishing. There are potholes to both your left and right from where you entered. I used to park on the street and walk in also but there is something there now. Soft plastics work great and spring into summer are when I had my best luck with topwater, Skitter walk (yellow) or Spook (Pink and Gold),

Would like to see you hold up each fish for the camera to actually see the beautiful fish. Some nice catching and like the info you share. Keep it up!!

Love the passion you have for teaching others how to fish! Please be mindful about sharing too much info on where a spot is. Galveston fishermen are notorious for leaving spots littered with trash after it is discovered on YT.
@randomguysview9 ай бұрын
Everyone knows SLP and even besides that point sharing a spot isn't gonna bring anymore trash then what's already predicted to be at a public spot. The no sharing "rule" is way outdated and honestly makes absolutely no difference.

He’s not wrong. That spot used to be fishable and security would watch your vehicle as well, now there’s a towing enforced sign there and you’re not able to launch or fish from there anymore unless you’re a resident

I use a Waterloo ultra mag rod. It is a 6,9 medium/light fast and my reel is a Shimano Corrado, DC.

Please don’t wade in the San Luis Pass. People die out there every year and the currents are unpredictable. Great spot to fish but do so from the banks or by boat. Be careful out there brother. No wade zone

Thanx for for fucking up the spot smh now 100 ppl gonna go and trash it and they will start towing cars smh

I will never ever encourage people to go there to fish it’s well known of the dangerous currents, every year there’s a drowning, and a lot of sharks

I’m gonna need you to correctly identify the sex of each fish. I feel bad for them boys you called girls. That’s why he made all that noise.
