Thanks for watching! If you have questions about the fish I kept on this trip or my location, take a look at the notes in the video description. Good luck to everyone out there doing what we love and chasing these fish in the best fishery on earth (in my opinion).

Days like this is why I carry a double rig. It helps with the distance, helps with the fall, and you double up on 18-19" its a blast. Obviously its all fun.

@Jar_Fishing I just take some 20 lb. leader(about 3 ft. Tie it in half with one end long than the other, toss 2 jigheads on and tie my braid to the loop. Works like a charm.
@billrobinson5765 ай бұрын
@@nathanankersen4695 So just to give you something to think about - I contend that a double rig does not fall any faster than a single rig and might actually fall slower. Think about what is happening as it is going through the water. Counter intuitive but I am pretty sure it is correct.
@nathanankersen46955 ай бұрын
@billrobinson576 you probably right. Physics says that they would fall at the same rate however they are hitting the water at a higher velocity which would accelerate their descent, atleast initially.

Man,Ya on a serious roll-figured out where ya are and congrats-lotta folks suspected Lake Borgne but I aint gonna OUT ya spot(s).Got a few buddies who have been hammering specks using live bait,not my favorite way of fishing.Just placed yet another order from Lunker City,got some Shakers and Fin-S fish soft plastics coming soon plus a few Pro-S and Titan jig heads.What is ultra-cool about the Lunker City line of soft plastics,besides their incredible efficacy,is that they are typically NOT available locally and fish do not get "lure fatigue" .Congrats!

@@anthonycyprusjr7829 what colors do you find work good with the shakers and fin-s? Never heard of the company before but was reading your comment and just looked them up and might try some.

@@GrassBandit I typically toss the Jungle Jazz(perhaps the best imitation croaker soft plastic out there)and Vampire.What impresses folks that fish with me is the colors Lunker City offers.I was introduced to them quite a few years ago by a tournament fisherman who interviewed a number of potential co-fishermen and decided I was the one he wanted to have aboard when we fished tournaments together.I was only using their Fin-S Fish until I started using the more-effective Shakers and apparently they not only work but a few soft plastic lure manufacturers have copied them!!!I typically have two big trays with me,one for stained water and the other for clear water.Where Jar was fishing,bet the Vampire and Jungle Jazz woulda encited a lunker speck riot!!
@GrassBandit5 ай бұрын
@@anthonycyprusjr7829 Thanks for the response, I’m gonna have to order some. The Jungle Jazz looks like the chicken on a chain color. That is one of the best colors in my opinion. I have really good success with it in both dirty and beautiful green water. I fish out of Vermillion Bay but I am always interested in what the other trout guys have success with around the state.

@@GrassBandit I am forever grateful to the gent who introduced me to Lunker City many,many years ago.I used to toss exclusively the Fin-S fish in 4 inch and they DESTROYED plenty specks,reds,flounders,bass,what-have-ya.Dying the tails with Spike-It also makesa HUGE difference.I am having to fish vicariuosly as my boat been laid up for far too long-hope to get her out soon but I recently did a total repaint of motor,now embarking on total repaint of hull,to include re-camo stencil job as my SouthFork is my beloved duck boat as well!!!

I bet you would be more comfortable with what is considered a left handed bait casting reel. You would than have the pole in your dominant hand, the right hand, and it wouldn’t be so awkward . You would reel with your left hand, but reeling is easy with either hand. Try it Bubba, you’ll never go back.

If I had to guess I’d say either out of cocodrie or empire areas, could be wrong, but it also could be out past the long rocks out of hopedale, pushing close to the Chandeleur Islands. It’s definitely somewhere offshore. Only reason I mentioned out of hopedale is because he mentions a 19 mile boat ride. That’s close to those island out past the long rocks, but cocodrie and empire areas have a lot of those smaller wells too.
