I was under the impression that personal drones could not be flown around the volcano area. I was in Iceland from the 3rd to the 13th of this month and wanted to fly my Diji Mini 4 Pro over the volcano. I'm not being negative towards your video or flight over the volcano, just jealous is all 😉, but happy for you and thank you for sharing your footage!

People with press passes and special access from the Univercity of Iceland can go through the barriers providing they show their permits and display them in their vehicles. Members of the public are indeed banned for the time being. There are many stipulations even then, an approved mask must be with you, an approved gas sensor for the toxic fumes must be on your person or in your vehicle.

It is also a documentation of the condition the volcano was in at this time. Two days later it had changed its shape - again - due to wall collapses.
