It didn't work for the same reason it wouldn't work if Aunt May or MJ tried to shoot Peter. Riri was an ally, so Peter's spider sense wouldn't register any attack from her as dangerous.

I want to know when this is suppose to have taken place. There are several continuity errors. He doesn’t have money, so it’s either way before Secret Empire, or after. But before Secret Empire he had Parker Industries, and if it’s before PI the Torch would be with the FF and Riri would not be Ironheart. After Secret Empire and there is no SHIELD, he also has no money and no home, so is crashing with Mockngbird. The writer of this comic has no idea what else is going on in the Marvel Universe.

In the 90’s I read a Spider-Man novel that had Peter’s sister in it (I know it wasn’t considered canon , but she had some sort of dark force ability like blackout but had strength agility and speed comparable to Spider Man she was also a blind spot to his spider sense and was a new 6 th member for the Sinister Six taking Kraven’s spot when he was dead , I have to find those old marvel novels , it was like 325 page novels like the D n D sized ones that had some pretty cool stories and covers and the occasional interior art on a chapter start section
