Slaughterspine is so easy to kill, but im stuck on this final boss so i think specter prime would win. One hit im done but slaughterspine took 2 or 3 hits. Ultra hard was so easy until i hit this final boss 😭

I loved this final battle. I was happy to see an actual unique machine this time lol, and I thought the fight was really cool - I like that it looks like the Specters, but is different enough that you see the (vast) evolution. I would like to get more info on how Specter Prime was created, like was it a Far Zenith creation or did Tilda do it all on her own?

Me too! I was definitely surprised. I knew something crazy was in store since I had one unknown machine left to scan going into the mission. I would also like to see more info about it! I wish there were more data points littered around the far zenith base. I do believe that it was a Far Zenith creation and not just Tilda's. In her combat dialogue, she mentions that "This badger was designed to survive against more than that". It makes me wonder what exactly it WAS designed to survive against.

@@unknown_2552 SPOILERS BELOW: I imagine it was designed to either combat, or at the very least defend, against Nemesis. When that AI took over all of Far Zenith's machines, the people had to flee to Earth as Nemesis was hell-bent on killing them all for imprisoning it. Specter Prime's multiple abilities and transforming plates seem specially designed for multiple large targets (spikes to trip up the feet, mortars to hammer at armor, blades to pierce vital components, fire to create distance between them and the enemy, etc.), so it may have been a weapon specially designed to fight Nemesis's robot army in the event that it finally caught up with Far Zenith's people.

Of course the intro starting with the creation of the Far Zenith colony and their centuries of advance technology.

For the first time I fought a slaughterspine on ultra hard, I needed 3 or 4 attempts to beat it! It's too tanky and has so many different attacks that are unavoidable! I first fought it in Gemini, because when I saw it on the beach during the Faro's tomb quest, I was unprepared so I didn't bother to fight it. For the Specter prime, it took 10+ attempts to beat it. It's absolutely OP and most attacks disable almost every passive ability, hunter items and weapon technique. That's when it gets the upper hand and kills me in a matter of seconds. And don't get me started on the giant fireball it hurls at you! Even before releasing it, there is a zone that deals fire damage. (Not a lot) But the Specter prime was still a very interesting machine and if I'm being honest, I wish I could fight another one.

I would say Specter Prime looks more like an Orbital Frame, myself. Bit of the Jehuty and Anubis in it, I think. I'm gonna say, though, that this boss was not as hard a thing to fight as the Fireclaw in HZD's DLC. More dangerous than the *story* final boss, but after the terror-inducing battle against that bear mech and its support towers, Specter Prime was easier for me. Of course, to BEAT the Fireclaw, I had to hunt down all the things I needed for the special forcefield armor, because his ability to inflict damage is ridiculously good. Small wonder they call all of Hephaestus' creations 'APEX' machines. It took the energy shield, the Ice Rail, and LOTS of running for that. It helped immensely when I needed to one-on-one Heph's own personal Slaughterspine in Cauldron Gemini. In comparison, Specter Prime was still a challenge, what with its elegant fighting style and Aloy INSISTING that I absolutely must remove the plating, just like how she kept telling me I had to uncoil the Slitherfang from that rock in the one arena...when that was the best way to keep it still to just keep hitting it. I don't know why characters insist I have to do something a certain way when I'm clearly doing the damage and not dying. So, here's Aloy telling me to remove those plates, all while I'm using explosives explosives and plasma that I don't need to aim too much to hit. I can run-and-gun, but I'm not super accurate when I do, and the slowdown focus only lasts for so long. My point is that clever strategy is fine, but for me with my resources, explosions and dodging and healing do just fine.

Thank you soo much with this video spectre prime was one of my favorite new machine additions to the franchise, other than the slitherfang and the Slaughterspine. This upgraded spectre was much more worthy as a final boss than the hades possessed deathbringer ever could be, but by the time i got to it i was a little disappointed on how fast it went down. I started forbidden west on hard mode and played the game through that way to compensate for me being a veteran of the last and all the machines felt well tuned through my journey. My major issue with spectre prime is i wish it attacked more and dodged more frequently, because compared to other end game machines i dont like how it keeps pauses for no reason other than to just say "hey now its time to shoot me". Attacking in this game and the past was always a balance between do i have time to pull this off before i get murdered, or do i just need to focus on staying alive. None of the other heavyweight machines feel "video gamey"I loved the idea of the spectre, hard hitting tank with advanced ranged attacks that are also mobile. If they were to take out its little pause so more of its attacks could string together combo style i think this boss could really be a worthy final encounter. Just make it have the aggression of the true kind the daemonic fireclaw from HZD frozen wilds. Now that was a fight.

I had the same experience as you! I played through on Hard because I had plenty of experience with Zero Dawn. I too was a little disappointed at the relative ease involved with defeating the Specter Prime. I did make a conscious effort to upgrade all my gear and weapons prior to fighting it, however. I also agree with you in that it seemed like the attack stages were too far apart. Other machines in Forbidden West seem to attack much more frequently and rapidly, even the regular Specters. Hopefully we see a difficulty spike for whatever DLC Guerilla is planning!

@@unknown_2552 finally someone who shares my sentiment, i too went in prepared for a fight that was way easier than i expected. Ive had more trouble from Apex Fireclaws and Slaughterspine than i ever did with SP. I love the machine i was just disappointed with its aggression. Its weird because why have your game's ultimate challenge (excluding dlc) be less difficult than some openworld challenges. Plus if they wanted to make the fight even more intense they could made it so halfway through the fight Tilda calls for reinforcements and two regular spectres fight along side her and she keeps being them back to life if you dont focus her in SP. That would've been a cool fight plus they wouldn't have to change much just add 2 more spectres to join her in the fight when she reaches half hp. If Aloy chooses to attack the regular sepctres first tilda will keep reviving them making the fight a hectic scramble to kill spectre prime before aloy gets overwhelmed by their simultaneous attacks. I just hope that whatever they've got in store for dlc that its on the level of the frozen wilds. New overpowered abominations from hephaestus, and new op weapons for aloy to combat him with. One idea i had to make her shield wing less useless since its functionality is kinda mute after getting sunwing. Was to get a powercell that upgrades it to its original functionality. So its strong enough to be used as a defensive shield in tandem with her spear like how the tankak champions use theirs. Kinda like a retake on the shield weaver it would have more hp than the og one but takes longer to recharge and only protects you from the front. And there could be an optional side quest in the dlc that once completed would allow you to ride it like hover board across the terrain giving allow another upgraded option for ground travel.

Right?? It would be so OP, but given it would only be available after the main story is completed I think that would be okay! Or maybe they could make a type of integrated suit in the same manner as the shield-weaver. Part of me wishes Forbidden West ended in the same way that Zero Dawn did - by just sending you back to the save just prior to entering the final mission, so that you can still go on, but as if you haven't just saved the world. I'm interested to see if they incorporate a DLC the way they did with the Frozen Wilds.

I'm sure this is just my own ineptness, but I literally cannot dodge a single one of her close-up attacks. No matter how I try to time my dodge, she always hits me and takes away most of my health in each hit (at least on hard difficulty). Since she usually manages to get a second hit in, I die very quickly. So far I've only managed to take her down by about 10% before getting killed. It seems like my only hope is to level up to level 50 before I take her on again.

Same, erika and the specter prime wasn't easy but wasn't hard. When i fought the deathbringer in horizon zero dawn, i ran out of arrows and HAD TO USE MELLE THE ENTIRE TIME. It made the boss seem like a real challenge considering it took me 3 hours to beat it.

I agree spectre prime isn't nearly as difficult as i think many believe. But that deathbringer wasn't shit either. The enemy that rains as king in the Horizon universe is the daemonic fireclaw from the og game's frozen wilds dlc. NOW That is how you do a final battle. To this day beating that dlc to 100 percent on ultra hard is one of the most difficult things ive ever done in a single player game.

@@nextbigthingthebeastincarn7216 i take you youve never fought one😂. Ive killed both daemonic thunderjaws, and corrupted storm birds in under a minute. Fireclaws are harder to deal with because they just dont stop. Even if you disabled its fire attacks it still has a myriad of ways it can kill you. The thunderjaw can be shut completely down if you remove its disk launchers and rapid laser cannons, after that all it can do is melee you with a super predictable charges. The Stormbird is even easier beacuse it only has one threatening means of attack and thats its lightning gun. Tear that off and it cant do much, and if you use a ropecaster to tie it down the fight is virtually over. A grounded stormbird is a dead one. And don't get me started on death bringers those guys are jokes all you have to do is run in a straight line until they stop shooting because their guns cant keep up with you. Expose their heat vents and you can literally one shot them with an icerail. See thats the difference between the fireclaw and everything else youve mentioned. I know how to reliability kill all of machines you listed above with less than 3 shots. (On hard mode and below) the fireclaw is the only machine that is impossible to kill under those conditions plus its resistant to the method i use to put down the machines we've talked about. So idk what game you've been playing but most of the community is on the same page as me that the fireclaw in the first game is the king of machines. The thunderjaw is the mascot of the franchise but its not the strongest and after the second game it barely makes top five.
