Ancient lightning spear is also great on the Bolt of Gransax. It does insane damage, low charge time and an extremely fast projectile. Pretty much a rail gun.

The Poise damage is great! And the range is STUPID! I downed that Giant like 3 times before he could even get near me! and even with the little damage it does, I was able to kill it before it got in range!

Spectral Lance is buffed by Shard of Alexander and the Smithing Talisman from the DLC. Also gets the benefit from Arrow's Reach, but not Arrow's Sting. What this AoW lacks in damage it makes up for in poise damage, holy hell its great. The spectral lance is a partisan btw if you dont like how your spear changes appeance before being thrown

Dang, finally a useful recommended video. Thanks for this. I did not test sufficiently or see the use for it when I first obtained picked it up. Equipped it once to my trusty guardian swordspear, looked at the weapon art once, decided it wasn't even better than the ice spear and not even close to bolt of granny, and never looked at again. This really changes things for me, so thanks for the vid!

for me, personally, the spectral lance is the perfect cooperator skill, with any agro-attracting talismans/armor it takes a single spear hit and the boss'll stick to you like a magnet. its perfect for malenia, if you throw it right before waterfowl dance.

This has become one part of my current cosplay build as a diablo 2 javazon with this, lightning spear, a partizan, the gold small shield and lightning strike. It's been fun. Working on leveling up some so it does something for damage and doesn't make me question my life everytime I throw it lol

Spear is the most underrated historical weapon in real life. Difficult to defeat with anything but bows and heavy equipment. There's a reason it was the main infantry weapon of hundreds of different cultures for centuries. Also underrated in Elden Ring. It's great when paired with Barricade shield ash of war.

The Cross naginata is a samurai's weapon that does very well on occult infusion and can take this ash. Use it as a swap option along with your katana

My first character was a spartan theme build and THIS carried me till the end. Infuse the spear with bleed and spec main with arcane. Equip golden greatshield with barricade shield and you will have relatively little problem in close or long range combat... However, for the final boss... It was the shield's heavy attack that demolished them both (radagon and space nessi) lol

I've been obsessed with making sure weapons have the right ashes of war. Considering that the Partizan in particular is used by SIX DIFFERENT ENEMIES (not including the Gelmir Knight) making sure they all have the roght ashes is important. I used this in my Morgott cosplay on the Partisan spear (He uses the Treespear, but it's a somber stone weapon) The AoW is actually really good both for damage and pulling enemies the same way you would with a bow

Fun fact: This Ash of War also stacks with Arrow’s Reach, giving it a much longer distance! You can hit bosses & bigger targets from really far away using both. On NG+, with 99 Arcane & 50 Strength, my +25 Occult Partisan hits this one singular troll in the Giants’ Gravepost 3 times before its poise is broken. I believe with Malenia, it takes at least 4 or 5 of these for it to break her poise, with the only caveat being that the recover animation on your character is slow after the Ash of War is used.

Notes: if all you want is the ranged poise break then all physical infusions are valid choices. Heavy, keen, quality, blood, poison and occult. If you want to use it as a ranged WEAPON you have to go all in for arcane, as the skills damage is purely arcane based

Kinda bites that there's no fist nor dagger ashes that do decent stance damage. To be an assassin character, you basically have to have an on-hand longsword for Stand Off as that does, by far, the most stance damage pound-per-pound. 30 ish on the first, 40 on the second. It's a PvE butcher.

Yeah, that's our testing character. He only has like 25 levels in each stat, with no buffing talismans and if I remember correctly an unupgraded spear? He has a build for testing not damage. That way you can compare between videos.

Bows, crossbows, ballistas & greatbows are piss, though; they’re only ever good at doing elemental damage or luring enemies. Plus, with 99 Arcane & 50 Strength for me, with the Ash of War equipped, a maxed-out Partisan spear has a B in Arcane. At best, greatbows & other ranged weapons with ammo still stay at a D.

Most of the case, boss/npc will completely ignore poise, if they can land a killing blow to player, so don't trust poise so much, the only one who always get affected by poise is player lol 🤣

Poise breaking bosses opens them for a critical. Same with giant enemies. Poise just works differently in this case. Two full charged heavys on two-handed greathammer with craglablade will "drop" most bosses
