@@TheSmokinApe A lot of work went into this radio. More than 18 months of prototype development and testing before release, to make sure that it was actually a quality radio for the HAM/PRO market, first! Also see the latest firmware that was just released, it adds a few nice features. Thanks for the great videos Ape. 73!

Excellent video. Shown me I can use my (new to me) NanoVNA, with attenuation, to check out my own radios as well

Nice testing. Great job linking attenuators together . I do not have that many or enough power rating .so I just line tap into 2.5 KW dummy load. This allows power measurement and outher tests at same time. That short piece of 8X is fine. This is HF . maybe at UHF might be a problem with all them connectors but HF is just fine. You could the PTT on mic as straight key. That makes a great POTA radio . Them 3 bands has been open real nice lately. Just throw it on a ATU and Poseidon antenna and make your contacts . Remember 15 amps peak current. 20AH LiFePO4 should run most of the day . With a sound card you can do digital modes just watch duty cycle. Adjust power as needed. You could just hold mic over smartphone and send/receive SSTV . Their a app for that . 73

Nice video Ape…. I don’t have the spectrum analyzer and set up such as you have for testing, so would it be safe to say even with this being one of the Chinese brands that all these would be clean. I know some of the Baofengs are hit or miss. Does radioddity seem to be consistent with their stuff?
@TheSmokinApeАй бұрын
This radio is manufactured by Anytone and rebranded as Radioddity. Anytone typically does a pretty good job.

Courious about the power output on 12 and 15m. I am seeing 50watts output on those bands through the analyzer on my tuner. What is your experience with power output on those bands?
@TheSmokinApeАй бұрын
I have fully tested yet but the video is coming 👍
@mostlypostie1Ай бұрын
Power output on 15m is lower, around 40 to 50 watts PEP. RX sensitivity is also slightly reduced on 15m. However it's still very workable and great fun (and clean) to use! 73

Interesting. So why didn't they advertise and sell it as a 3 band ham radio?
@mostlypostie1Ай бұрын
It's because the radio is an upgrade of an older model, and the factory did not want to redo all of the documentation and compliance / certification information for the global market. So it remains a 10-meter radio with lots of "gifts". 73
