It's not illegal. you can pay for the cable box the first month then take it back for a $7.99 month savings. Spectrum knows that. there wont be any code or trick to stop you. Spectrum has contract with Samsung Tv, Apple Tv, Xbox, Firestick and Chromcast. They are working to re sign with Roku as of 12/15/20.

For me side loading it works to a point. I can't get past the parental controls. When I boot it up it tells me that I needed to adjust my parental controls (even though I don't have any) and to toggle the slider to adjust it. The issue is, no matter what mouse app I use, I can't slide the dang slider! If I could find a way to do it or a way around it I think it would work fine. If I try to skip it and finish setup it tells me I need to adjust my parental settings and then boots me out and won't let me back in.

Well as of 2020 this method no longer works it gives a message saying unsupported device. Is there a new way to bypass this message? At least it works on my samsung crystal 4k tv and I can use the tv remote to change channels. I wanted it in my bedroom aswell on my vizio tv. What a bummer. Does the app work on the roku stick does anyone know?

As of my pinned comment from a few months back, I have an alternate method and already covered it. And yes the Roku app works mostly ok. I primarily use Roku's anyway. The app does crash though once in a while and all EAS messages come in twice which is fairly annoying, and you have to dismiss them after they stop showing you TV.

Hey Mike, I have a question. I have Spectrum Silver and there Internet Ultra and was going to ditch there internet for another ISP fiber. If I change internet will the spectrum app still work? I’m assuming it won’t but the tv will still work, I have spectrum cable card thru my TiVo bolt.

The app will not work as it is tied to your modem through Spectrum's own service. So unfortunately if you change ISP's but keep Spectrum for TV, the app itself will not work.

is there any way i can log out of the spectrum app installed on the fire stick? I installed it in someone else’s fire stick in hopes for them to watch just one channel (which is available without being on the spectrum WiFi) but it automatically connected to their spectrum account.

Spectrum designed the app to sign directly into to whomever account the wifi network itself belongs to (a Spectrum Internet service with a customer that also has Spectrum TV). Therefore it's going to sign into their service. As soon as the device is on a non-Spectrum ISP or a Spectrum internet customer without TV service, it simply won't work.

Hi Mike, when I double click on the 'play' button within 'Mouse Toggle for Fire TV' I do not see the mouse toggle. I've disabled the mouse service as well as 'disabled' the ADB then went back to the mouse app, enabled the mouse, enanled ADB, double clicked and still no toggle. Please advise...thanks...I've also restarted my firestick as suggested in another comment

I'm beginning to find that for some reason, some Firesticks are not working with it, I had someone else yesterday with two of the same Fire TV's and one worked, and the other complained about the HDMI, so I'm not entirely sure what's going on. It's as if Amazon pushes out different software to the same devices.

Well, hadnt used it in a couple weeks. Tried to use the app and it said I have to upgrade. Of course it doesnt give you a source. Will have to start over and see if I can find one that works. Oh well.

It doesnt let you watch local channels. That's the downside unless your on their internet connection.

That's the app itself and Spectrum's own rules. It makes sense though, it's a legal thing and is part of the contract from the local stations. They do not want their stations streamed out of their general "market".

After going through all the steps, when I start the spectrum app it gets stuck on the ‘Spectrum logo’ loading screen , and every 60sec the message: ‘RESTARTING...’ comes on at the bottom of the screen - it’s stuck in a loading loop. Even with Google Translate, I have no idea what you said. Unfortunately I don't know Spanish, but it seems you are referring to an older version with some issue regarding the channel lineup. That isn't something I'd be able to help with as that might be a Spectrum issue. Verify on your phone that the lineup is correct. If it's incorrect on the phone as well, for that you'll want to call Spectrum (and only tell them the issue is on the phone, don't even mention the Fire TV).

Hello, I went through the steps and I made it to the part where I intall spectrum on my firestick from my Android phone but the app never popped up on my firestick. It keeps saying failed as if I done this before and I haven't. Should I continue the steps as far as troy point and toggle or is it pointless if I can't install Spectrum on my firsestick?

It would be pointless if it won't install. Try restarting the firestick though, if it *did* transfer and isn't showing up, forcing the home page to refresh might help.

I watched about 5 minutes of this. Seems to difficult. I'd rather buy a roku and watch it from there. The spectrum App is already downloaded to roku and works perfectly!! Spectrum themselves often reccomend the use of roku if you want to avoid paying for an extra cable box

Hi Mike, I am stuck in "starting mode" in the mouse toggle for Fire TV. ADB settings are on in fire tv, but the mouse toggle menu doesn't allow me to open adb settings. Everything else is on. Can't find the cursor in any firestick menu/screen, and tried disabling adb then opening spectrum app but nothing happens when i select watch TV. I am a spectrum customer btw. Any pointers?

I had some issues with it at first. Don't try loading the Spectrum app until the mouse app can start, otherwise it's a fruitless effort. Try toggling ADB off and then back on again (as suggested in the Mouse app), if that fails, try rebooting the Fire TV. I'm seriously hoping the people behind the mouse application update it, because it seems some people are having issues with it as I was at first before it just started working somehow. Because once it's enabled, *then* you can disable ADB so Spectrum loads. (Trying to load Spectrum when ADB is still enabled will not work because then you can otherwise save your cable channels video stream).

As of today 12/21/19 it asks for update and doesn't work. Maybe their latest version patched the fire stick. Using silk worked perfectly!

@@hakemon no it has a built in mouse with it. All you use is the select circle button if that's what it's called. To move up and down the guide you use 2 fingers, one to click and hold select and the other to move up or down like click and drag. Kinda awkward but it works :-) once you sign in you should be good to go, click live tv, and to change channels click on the screen anywhere (I found the middle to work better sometimes) to get the guide to pop out. If the website is stuck at the top of your screen, move the select button mouse down to the bottom and keep pushing down until it goes away (found that out by mistake lol). Anyway hope that helps you brother.

Ok. After the mouse software starts, ensure ADB debugging has been disabled. If this still happens, this may not work for the 4k versions as Amazon may have enabled screen mirroring for some reason (which might be a security concern of its own actually, where's it mirroring to?)

Actually in the Firesticks preferences under Display & Sound, check to make sure Enable Display Mirroring is disabled.

@@hakemon I checked ADB, it's off. As far as screen mirroring, there is no toggle for it. Clicking it just enters a mode where you *can* screen mirror, so I think it's off by default

This is off topic but if you have a Samsung smart tv you dont need to have a extra cable box since spectrum has a deal with them and you can just stream live tv just like you would on a pc/tablet/phone

No, iPhone's don't run Android and therefore can't transfer an APK. You can however download the APK from APK Mirror directly on the device, but it's far more complicated since the browsers themselves can't download, only "Downloader" can.

Do you have Spectrum TV service and Internet both? It shouldn't be asking for a username and password, it generally auto-logs in based on the Internet connection being your Spectrum Internet service.

Might not be. There might be a way to do this from the stick itself but a bit on the challenging side using downloaded and the browser together. I might see if I can make a follow-up video.

Checked the pinned comment. This is deprecated, and no, this would never have worked with iOS, Fire Sticks are Android based.
