blackguitar86 He could probably use just voice commands via Alexa with an Amazon Fire stick or cube if you connect them via an Amazon Echo device. All remotes have similar navigation with left/right, up/down & select functions.

Me and my wife were actually able to do this, but, we did their tv select package through it being as we originally had the main box, tv silver package etc. so we were able to switch to this through the Apple TV and I love it more through streaming rather than the traditional cable option, plus we have the cloud DVR for $9.99 and the only thing you can pause, rewind etc is your recorded shows.

I have a question... I currently have AT&T TV now... The company used to be DirecTV now.... Since they have switched I haven't been able to get in contact... With no live chat operators and the numbers they provide is AT&T and they can't help me with that app at all other than bill.... Not to mention when I signed up they told me it would be $35 a month it would never go up it would stay at that and in the last 2 years it's been up $10 every month they were given me credit for but when the company changed I no longer get credit to make it 35... Now the bills about $60.... Anyhow the one main feature that I like is that I can go on to all the different apps like if I wanted to go into the MTV app or if I wanted to go into the The Nickelodeon app... This service does allow me to sign in to those apps so I can go watch all the shows I missed that arent playing live... The spectrum allow you to do as well can I go on the MTV app or the Nickelodeon app and sign in with my Spectrum.. Is my question?

That’s a tough one, I’m not sure. 🙂Check the MTV app to see if sign on with Spectrum is available. If it isn’t give spectrum a call and see what they can do.

Also and FYI... some of the channels will be greyed out, specially the local channels. You can't view those channels outside your home if you are not connected to your spectrum home network....

I signed up 3 days ago and it now has DVR service but it will not appear on the Menu Screen. Everything else works. Very frustrating. I wish you would re-visit their "updated" services.

The lack of a DVR is most definitely the biggest con in the pros and cons list. Honestly, the whopping 15 channels you get to choose, for the price, is the only pro if you need something in that column. We went without cable for over 18 months, and adjusted to the loss of some favorite channels. The antenna we bought for $15, provided a decent channel lineup and we had no monthly bill to pay just to watch tv. Now, we've discovered that with this Choice plan, we're having to use some of our 15 choices for channels we used to get for free when we were without a cable provider. Overall, Choice is a good option at a very affordable rate.

I did sign up for this service about a month ago. I tried to sign up online but that option was not available, I had to call. I am using a Samsung smart tv and a MacBook pro. My biggest complaint is that the picture quality is not stable and goes "fuzzy" a lot and locks up and or buffers constantly. My tv and computer are not that old. Still, it is cheap and allows me to watch TV on those occasions I want to watch it. So my feelings about it are mixed.

Yes, you’ll go to the website, choose your channels and subscribe. Then download the app, sign in to it and you should be good to go. For some ppl the service starts right away, others like myself have to wait a day for the service to start.

We have Spectrum T.V. and Inernet. Our cable TV used to receive channel 613 which is CW-14. The view on our TV is all broken up into pixels. It wasn't like this before. Even the playoff football game of the Bengel's was interrupted ... This is not acceptable. Fix

You can like they claim. The only catch is only a few channels will work. All the main channels you watch will only work on your home internet which makes using it outside of your home pointless...

Antenna reception in my area is difficult and I was never able to get a strong signal so when Spectrum came out with their streaming service I signed up. Last week I found out about their Choice service and switched to it. Got a cable card from them and am using my Tivo Bolt which has 4 tuners and allows me to do all the things I want (pause live tv, commercial skip, record series etc). There is one glitch that no one has been able to correct and I'm still working with Spectrum to correct. I am not able to get FXM movies on Tivo, which is one of the 10 options I selected. I am able to get it when I go on the app with Roku or my Samsung TV. Also with Choice I'm able to get all the Hallmark and Lifetime movies, which are part of the 10 optional channels. When I was on the streaming only service both Hallmark and Lifetime were part of "skinny" bundles that didn't include the movies, which my wife gave me hell for. Using my 4 tuner Tivo Bolt with the Spectrum TV Choice package allows me to have the programming we want without the big cost. I have the Tivo connected to the main TV and use a mini for our bedroom TV. I use the app on the other TV's in the house. Bottom line is the service is worth it. I have a super strong signal on all channels, (95%) plus. When I was on antenna only my signal strength ranged from 42% to 67% with intermittent pixilation. We all know how frustrating that can be, especially if it's on a recorded program. I also subscribe to their premium channel package for an additional $15 per month. This gives us HBo Go, Showtime Anytime, TMC, Starz and Starz Encore. These are streaming only require the app to receive.

Richard.... I have a question regarding the cable card you are using from Spectrum. Just what does it give you . We called Spectrum and the agent could not supply very much info other than it was free.We are subscribed to the Spectrum 10 choice service because we wanted 2 particular channels that the “Prime” streaming did not offer. We are thoroughly enjoying the streaming and added the premium movie channel they offered which is a great deal. We are looking to adding a DVR option and doing research on different ones. Does anyone know how timely the On Demand content is with Choice? I have the full Spectrum app and the On Demand content is next day or a few days depending on the channel. With DTVN some channels were a week to two weeks but most were next day or the day after. I don't watch anything live now. Also for those that complain about not having a DVR and/or not being able to skip commercials with On Demand content, I use Desktop PlayOn DVR (just Google it just like that). They have a Cloud version but I don't like it as much. It records from On Demand automatically. You can play back most content with AdSkip and the Spectrum app is built into the PlayOn app which works with devices like Roku.

You can record using HDhomerun because now they have full "cable" channels as well as OTA with their DVR option which records to your disk and is only $35 a year for the DVR and you can buy a refurb HDhome Run device from them direct at a good price. Once it is on your disk you may be able to ChromeCast it to your TV or just run a long HDMI cable to your TV. I have run one 25 Ft with no problem but now I just use a 1st gen I-7 small format that I wasn't using any more. It is called Premium TV and is $35 a month

Also we are catching programs on demand through choice the next day so far or sometimes through our individual apps we have downloaded on Roku. Some of the individual apps give more content and options and some apps we are not subscribed channels through choice we are able to enjoy some on demand and content. It is hit and miss. Example :We subscribe to FOX so our FOX now app gives us east and west coast feed plus more. One of the sports app was giving us watch live or the ability to pause or even start the game over. Again hit and miss.I am reading up on the Homerun and articles about it. Sounds perfect now if only Roku would work with them to be able to run Homerun through it.

I'm not aware of a way to select a particular channel. There may be a way to add certain channels to a "Favorites" list but you'd still have to scroll (obviously the list would be a little shorter).

just signed up for $21.99 per month. they say that the dvr service will be up by the end of the month (jan 2019). Sports channels i got: ESPN, ESPN2, NBC-SN, FS1, TNT (for NBA, NCAAB), TBS (for MLB, NCAAB) plus all the news channels and kids channels for my kid. Plus with Netflix and CBS all access, i don't need anymore programming. While i was talking to phone rep, my spectrum app worked instantly and i was able to watch while talking to the spectrum rep. as much as i hate TWC and spectrum, this was simple and easy for me.

Mark Leonard I got the 89$ per month deal. Which means I get 400 Mbps internet, tv, and phone for 112$ per month for 24 months. That’s pretty solid and it’s better then Verizon. With Verizon which I had previously I was paying the same amount for 50mbps internet, tv, and phone. And you get stuck on a dam contract with Verizon after your agreement ends. So, spectrum is pretty solid so far.

Yes, you use your Spectrum log-in for the additional channel apps, but you won't be able to access any channels not on your list, if you have to log-in using your Spectrum log-in.

currently I pay for regular cable tv with sprectrum and when I called today to disconnect part of my service phone and tv. they offered me the choice but i said i would call back so i could check it out. right now i am testing it on smart tv and i did not have to put in my charter login information at all to stream. apparently if you currently pay for charter tv you can stream via roku or samsung smart tv which i did not know. picture quality is great. i will definitely be calling them back tonight to get rid of regular tv and phone.

If you stream it through a Roku stick, it only shows the channels you get, which is a plus for us. That way you don't have to wade through every channel Spectrum offers, even though you don't get them. Also, with a Roku, you can return the Spetrum cable box and save a few bucks, too.

I just signed up and was told by customer service I could switch out channels if I wanted.Also, I opted (for an extra price) for their DVR box for the main tv in the house so I can DVR and skip commercials. It's worth the cost as I've been going crazy watching commercials. I cut the cord and went to Playstation Vue and also tried Hulu live tv. PSV and Hulu have a way to go. PSV kept freezing up on the Roku and not allowing too much commercial skipping. Just lots if buffering and I have 300mbps connection. Just not there yet. Hulu was good but the DVR wont let you skip commercials (what's the point) and even when I paid more for the larger DVR (the one you can skip commercials) it kept saying it is full even when I didnt have anything in it. Also, PSV and Hulu increased their price. PSV if you dont hurry and get to a recording it removes it from DVR and makes you watch it as streaming and forced to watch commercials when streaming. Hulu's plan with no commercials still has commercials. The price for PSV and Hulu is near cable tv cost levels but not worth it until they improve their service. I'm taking a chance on the 21.99 Spectrum service to see if I like it. I also received a offer from Spectrum called Lifestyle choice ( or something like that) for like 12.99 mo. Was going to do it but they didnt offer Fox News. That's a deal breaker for my wife.

All the negatives right below this are true but you don't necessarily need a DVR because contrary to what is implied in the video, the On Demand is your DVR. You get next day episodes of all your OTA type channels and within a few days to a week the latest episodes of your Cable Type channels. You can also get a low cost lifetime license to an app called PlayOn Desktop or Cloud (just Google it) that records automatically from On Demand automatically and includes the Spectrum app as well as many direct channels and keeps track of your credentials and allows playback with AdSkip and skip forward and back.

I just read some of the lower comments and I have used the Spectrum app for over a year and it is solid with no problems and most of the lower comments just are not what I have seen with Spectrum Choice.

Streaming services are good but isos a traditional cable should just go down in price to match the same prices they 40-50 a month. I wonder how it will work with everyone streaming and if there will be enough data to support it in the future. also if all you want is your local channels just get an HD antenna completely free and good for those that don't have high speed internet. When was better this or Hulu plus.

Supposedly you lose any bundle discount you are currently receiving if you switch to choice from one of the other packages. That means Internet and phone both increase by $10. Probably not be a big deal since the price of TV alone goes down so much, but possibly something to consider. Also if you are getting some kind of promotional discount due to switching from a competitive service such as Dish or AT&T, you will lose that also.

Dang. So many “hate” Spectrum. I haven’t had any problems so I can’t relate. Had immediate access, no technical problems, mostly got it for the walking dead and Vikings, but the “On Demand” area has some TV shows like Blacklist and some movies which is ok as icing on the cake. I’m thinking about trying Crave though. Seems like a lot more value.

I’m glad you’ve had a good experience! As you see from the comments some people have had differing experience. My experience is 50-50 which is about the hit rate I get with other companies like the mobile carriers.

Sports is big reason people keep cable. Think about a season pass along with a streaming service. It maybe cheaper than a year of cable service but if not keep cable, it convenient. 🙂

I had their home setup box delivered today. Tried for a couple hours to set it up. Ended up calling in for help. Well the tech found out I had everything connected correctly and then realized Spectrum hadn't actually finished setting up my service. He had it set up then it still wouldn't work. We went thru the set up again and everything was set up correctly. I turned my tv back on and again it said "stick around" Looks like it's gonna set up for a few more hours, if not days. The tech told me to go to the local office and ask for the Advanced " channel box. I will do that tomorrow. I use a HiSense Android TV and I'm worried it might not load onto it. I told the tech I had a Android TV but he made no comment. Hmmm...maybe he didn't know what it was. Does anyone else using Spectrum have that set up on an Android TV...not a firestick? Let me know, plese.

Just made the switch from Spectrum Cable to Choice. Currently have 6 tv’s and 6 boxes. Want to go completely wireless now with having smart tv’s and Roku devices. So I decided to Up my data plan speed from 60 to the Ultra 400. Although Spectrum reps told me I needed to keep 1 box to make the Choice work properly. Is the box really necessary?

No I haven’t had a box in over a year. I downloaded the app from the roku app store and it worked fine. But as I said in the video I didn’t have any DVR function. When I called to cancel the rep tried to sell me a normal cable subscription and a DVR. Overall you don’t need a box to get the service.

Doe anybody here use spectrum tv app on Xbox one? Im currently using it on Roku 3 but my Roku 3 is getting slow, so im thinking either getting Xbox one or Roku ultra. Xbox one have blue ray player and I would like to play games sometime, but if spectrum app doesn’t work good on Xbox one then I won’t get it

I only had internet from spectrum for a while. Then i get a phone call from spectrum. Offering me the the app service. So now I have internet and the app... I'll like the app. But I did notice for some channels for some reason need my WiFi for it to be available.

Now they have a choice plan that has the same basic channels plus 25 preselected channels. In my area with internet service, they said the cost would be $109 taxes included. I have spectrum right now, cable tv and WiFi. I only watch tv on my TV set. I don’t understand what the difference is between Choice, and the package I have now. Is the signal delivered differently?

Choice is 10 channels to pick from. TV Stream is 25 pre-selected channels.
