Thank you for this video. My son (ASD) 14 month old speaks around 30 words meaningfully . But he has very poor eye contact and joint attention and engaging with people. Im doing activities and stimulations from around 4 months for eye contact. it is developing slowly compaired to other skills. He has good imitation skills, play skills and follow directions very well. My aim is to get him out of the spectrum. thanks for your videos. Looking forward next videos. Thank you...

My son is 2 years old, he has not yet started to talk, he imitates only very few sounds which I do, but he can copy all the actions I do... He can also follow all my instructions. If he want something like snacks, he used take the snacks box and bring it to me and ask me to open in a nonverbal form, after i give him ,he will keep the box in that place from where he took it, and start to eat the snack, he understands everything , Only problem is ,the words he cudnt say, how can I help him ?

Notes: Imitation - a foundation skill 1. Strategies: A. Reward him for participating with clapping or treat B. Get him to naturally want to play with me instead of alone 2. Activity ideas: A. Blocks: he joins me in stacking B. Xylophone: hits keys after I do C. Play ball: tossing it back at each other D. Stuffed animal: what does bear do? “bear..claps, raises his arms” - give him his own doll so he can imitate

Please help. I have 17 month old who was born a few weeks early so they adjust him a month behind. He does not imitate if initiated by someone else unless he really wants to, for example if I say and show clap...he may or may not do it, then later on if he claps and I respond with clapping...we will then have a good back and forth. I only feel he has a speech delay. He looks at you, very social, grunts, makes sound or hands you what he wants, dances, sings or like hums...especially at bedtime he hums himself to sleep. Understands and follows some commands, like no, stop, take hands out of month, good etc. Does not yet say 10 words, gives me high five when I ask...about 20% of time. So he does imitate, but generally just not when asked. I find that he does a lot of things he sees but doesnt know that's what he doing. He does not yet point or always look where pointed or wave. He does clap, walks great, feeds himself some, takes off diaper, climbs on everything, loves technology like remotes, phones, anything with buttons to turn things on, boxes, and being picked up. I'm a first time mom, just had two back to back and want to start them as best as possible. It's like I can tell my baby is brilliant, just have to get over the one hurdle. I think once he knows I want him to do what I'm asking or imitates better...the rest will fall into place.

This sounds exactly like my baby same age and how they adjust it and everything how is your baby doing now? I saw in one of her videos that it takes up to 40+ repetitions for a baby to start imitating sounds so I’ve been doing that with my baby at least an hour a day for example I say where’s the doggie? Woof woof I say it many times and yesterday he started saying doggie 😊😊😊 I call him tasty and now he’s saying taty 😊😊😊😊 so just keep singing to him talking playing making sounds and he will get it eventually! It took my son months to learn how to clap and now he does it but he does not wave bye bye I’m hoping he will eventually catch that too so let’s keep in touch!

@@jenngranados825 Same boat here - mine just turned 19 m. Your comment is giving me hope. He already has a few words, but perhaps I am inconsistent. Will try super repetition, hopefully he catches on..

@@JGallardoOntheMove yeah that works my son only has like three words besides mama and dada so we will keep practicing and you’re doing great if your 19month old already has a few words in everyone always tells me every baby develops at a different pace so don’t be discouraged
@TheNay8223 жыл бұрын
Wow, you just described my son exactly. I think my son is brilliant as well and he doesn't have any problems with eye contact or imitating. The biggest problem I think for my son is him being focused on multiple things at once. For instance, if I'm trying to read him a book he doesn't want to stay still.

@@PatriciaRuizSpeechTherapist yeah she doesn’t think anything is wrong as far as autism. So we’re trying to really tune into educational things. And so far it’s working. My daughter understands what you tell her. She says 11 words. But won’t repeat new words we tell her. But she’s getting there. She’s my second child and I had more time with my 1st born and he excelled so quickly. But I feel with the more kids you have the less time you have. So I’m stopping at 2. Give them enough time each and together.

Hello! I'm in my second year of my training as a speech therapist. I am from Germany and my next apprenticeship will be in South Africa. I am not that good in speeking English, especially the formal language which I obviously will need for my apprenticeship. So I would really appreciate if you could give me some tips about good lecture (especially for kids therapy, I will work at a school with children aged 6-18 with different disabilities) in english. Thanks in advance!
