How long is the Short cable, Directly from the box to the Turntable?

On my Pro-Ject Genie 1.3, the motor also makes a kind noise, transmits it to the wood of the cabinet which makes it even louder. After trying different measures without success (rubber, foam, etc.), I now have the player and motor on a glass pane that stands on small rubber buffers. This decouples the motor sufficiently and it is practically no longer audible. Nevertheless, I think about buying a SpeedBox S2 and testing whether it works quiet without glass pane. Since I control the power supply via HUE: How does the Speedbox behave if you unplug and plug the power supply? Is the Speedbox then in the same operating mode as before or do you have to switch it on again and again? Thank you!

I have a pro-ject debut carbon. It isn't one of the newer DC motors which I've read is supposed to solve the problem too. I've got a speed box for easy switching from 33rpm to 45 rpm. I still get that hum. Pretty sure it's not a ground issue. Anyhow it's still a great table otherwise. Thinking of upgrading and keeping it in another room. Glad it worked for you.

This speed box S and S2 only work on 16v turntable models. Would it be possible to convert to 15v to make it work on a Project debut carbon DC?

Thanks for posting this. I'm in the market for a Speed Box for my RPM 1.3, even if I don't currently notice any motor hum (maybe because I stand it on 4 lumps of Blu Tack?) I hadn't considered the added benefit of being able to power the motor on/off remotely, until you showed it! Are you still happy with the Speed Box?

I am yes! I’ve been using it all this time and it’s been great. I don’t have too many 45rpm records but it’s nice to not have to physically move the rubber band. With the speed box in place you never again use the engine’s own switch, and for me at least using the speed box’s switch is much more comfortable to access as I definitely can’t accidentally touch the rubber band. I’ve had situations where there was some uneven speed during playback due to the oiliness of my fingers that made the band slip just a tiny bit, so anything that keeps my fingers away from it is good :).

Hi, I wanted to ask if this helps the motor when I want to play 78 rpm records. (Including the pulley kit). Because the pulley kit itself has a pressure on the motor. Does the speed box help the motor ?

Apologies for the very late reply! From what I understand this box helps the motor provide a more stable and "clean" power supply, so while the motor might still get additional straight from the 78rpm pulley, the more solid power supplied should help it at least somewhat. But that is an assumption on my part. I don't have any 78rpm records, and from what I have read the pulley isn't compatible with the record player I have. Regardless, for additional speed stability alone I think this is a good purchase if you already have a Pro-Ject record player and plan on using it for several more years to come. Did you end up purchasing one? If so, it would be great if you could share your findings here in case anyone else is in a similar situation and finds this video.
