Milwaukee trimmers come with these and they are fantastic as long as the line does not get bound up inside. I think the main problem with acceptance is more that people just don't understand how to load them. Just the fact that you don't have to take it apart to load it is enough to sell it to me.

I can’t agree more. I don’t understand why anyone would bash this type of head. I replaced my Stihl head with one of these and could not be happier. It’s way quicker and easier to load and so far does not bind up like the manual wind head. 👍👍👍👍👍

I've used one of those for years at work. I liked it so much that I bought one for my Stihl at home. When I first started using one it kept jamming inside the head. I finally figured out I was putting too much string on the spool. I now use about the same amount as you and it works fine.

I put about 7 feet 14 feet of string 7 feet on each side and I don't have any problems out of it. I run into the same problems you did as well when I first started using it I was trying to put in 10 foot on each side which is 20 feet of string in that head just wasn't quite big enough😅

The speed feed probably works really well with smaller, smooth line. I cut a lot of rough weeds with my Echo 2030T and .105 Echo Diamond line. I often have issues with the line getting hung up or "welding" to itself insided of the head. Been thinking about going back to a two line head with this larger weedeater setup. The line cuts heavy stuff quite well, but the hangups are irritating.

I have a Stihl FS 45 FrankenTrimmer (FS 45 powerhead with an FS 55 shaft/gearbox). I use the Echo SpeedFeed 400 on it and it's awesome and so easy to refill the line. I just had to refill the line on mine. The only reason it took me over 20 minutes was because I had to look for the line and it was right in front of my face! My cousin has the regular FS 45 curved shaft trimmer and he went with the AutoCut C 6-2 (since the SpeedFeed doesn't go on Stihl curved shaft trimmers) for it since it's almost the same and it too is rather easy to spool line back in.

I tried it already, few years ago. On a Stihl, and I’ve got a 94R, 111RX and 111R, the line holes in the Speed Feed barely line up with the cutter. Line wasn’t getting trimmed efficiently when fed. Went to the Husqvarna universal heads and never looked back. Line holes are in the middle of the Stihl cutters, line feeds MUCH easier than OEM Stihl heads, easier to load, easier to bump feed, and even at a lower rpm… it’s better than the Echo or OEM Stihl. I keep spare Husqvarna heads pre-loaded and when empty just swap in a loaded head. Time is money, and the Husqvarna universal head is superior in quality and efficiency to Stihl or Echo.

My arrow doesn't line up right over the hole but it still works like a champ. I also bulletproofed mine. Will definitely get another when ready

I've never had luck with the bump line devices. Always have to almost slam it on the ground, like I'm chopping wood. That hard.

I have this type of head on my Stihl gas trimmer and my Milwaukee battery trimmer. Super easy to reload.

Hey steve i believe the issue is with the speed feed 500 which kept melting the trimmer line. The 400 and 450 had zero issues and was mentioned in the reviews.

Well, the one in the link did not fit the shaft of my 80v Kobalt. I’m really hoping they have one that will. I may just put this one on the shelf in the garage and buy a trimmer in the list of trimmers this head fits. It’s a great design.

I avoid the line and use the triangular blade instead for most of the time I cut grass and brush with the clearing saw I have. (Husqvarna 535iFR) The reason for avoiding the line is because it leaves small pieces of plastics everywhere and they aren't that nice to have around.

I installed a Speed-Line 400 on my Stihl FS91. The first issue I had was the installation instructions told me to use the wrong insert fo my brushsaw. I did find the proper instuctions on YT and got it installed. I like the easy loading of the line, but found it seems to spool the line out too much. I'm not sure if there is a problem with my install but like I said the line seems to feed excessively. I also find that using it seemed to lug the engine more than normal, due to the excessive line feeding issue. I took it back off the unit and reinstalled the Stihl head that came with my brushsaw. It takes longer to reload the line but hey I'm old and can use the extra downtime to refill it...and...I'm not doing this for a living, just cleaning up around my yard (about 3 1/2 Acres). Cheers from NB
