I use this system a lot. Makes it simple and quick. I agree that you should give some more examples of different situations.

Something else we've been starting to do also, IF you want to track a level of disruption: Flip the right most block upside down. Once they've had time to recover, you can flip it back up again. Lots of different ways you can use this. I do that for a T result. So they can't move or attack until they recover first. Gives you a way to track things like that, keeping it simple and FAST!

I had some maps printed. Found blocks online. I made labels for them. Probably all for about $30. Just time for painting and putting labels on.

Very good. Now would this rule be applied to Pub Battles? Also want to ask you how modern day warfare llike the modernday US and or Russian or former Soviet military combat be played out on Pub Battles with modern day electronic warfare and recon tactics, drones etc? I try to keep the fog in place by deliberately having units hidden (removed randomly from the board and reappearing elsewhere thereby increasing deception and determining with dice when and if units have been located and what they are with simple yes/no questions resolved by dice or coin flip, giving speed to play. Currently I am experimenting with the bit of understanding I have of Pub Battles of modern present day seige tactics, i.e. the recent seige of Mariupol on my board. Using the chit pull system certainly gives instant clarity and speed, although without a full clearer understanding of the dice shown in this video there could be problems. I guess with some thought i could invent conditions myself. Also computor assistance can be called upon as an option to add more deviation, say AI from a dark chess game or even simple artillery game apps where two quick games are played as one for each side mean its like HQ gaining reports at the front instead of the rear, just for fun and additional simulation. The dice roll ultimtely determines the outcome anyway. Also I am working on various types of support, a bit like the baggage train, only adapted to modern day condtions, like the Soivet batttlalion tactical groups which have onboard support platoons yet also there are separate support supply systems further to the rear as well as air support and additional long range missle strikes used say once in a game for example.Keeping it light and streamlined is definately the way to go in the spirit of Pub Battles. Best wishes to you.

I think modern warfare would be handled very different. The defender almost always has cover. They don’t just stand up in plain view and fire at each other anymore. The attacker is forced to stand up and advance. I’d say the defender fires first. That would be a key difference. You’d also have to emphasize the importance of support or suppression fire. This could be from artillery / airstrikes, etc. If the defender gets suppressed from that, then they don’t fire first. That’s what I would do. Logistics today are still very similar really. You need lots of fuel and ammo up at the front. You need trucks bringing it in. Troops can’t fight or move without it. I’m not sure how I’d handle drones. Kind of the same as an airstrike…

What if there were 3 half battalion s in one brigade(us) and 4 half battalion’s on the other (British) ? What would odd be then? And how many hits can a brigade take thats only has two half battalions in a brigade etc but the examples go on thanks Marshall.

Ah. Good questions! If 4 blocks attack 3, that is a 1:1 attack. The British don't have enough for a 3:2. If the Colonials with 3 attacked the British, they would be attacking at 2:3, since they don't have enough for a 1:1. Easy! 4 blocks per unit is standard. They can only be 4 wide for command & control. They can stack up to 4 deep for bigger units. Yeah, if they only have 2 blocks, then they could take fewer hits. I'd follow the same guide. The first hit would flip the first block. Another hit would flip the next one. A third hit would destroy the entire unit.

How to handle bombardment?
@CommandPostGames
@CommandPostGames 2 жыл бұрын
A simple column shift! If you bombard the defender before you attack, you go up 1 die. If the defender has artillery that can fire at you while you advance to contact, you go down 1 die. If there is no attack, just a bombardment, that's just like a fire attack. You roll for hits. Not that many though. I'd just give them 1 hit if it succeeds.
