It's been awhile. An apocalyptic scene which takes place on a railroad. I should have taken a bit more time with the city area but I am content. Wanted to get this out there so you guys know I am still alive.
Music Used :
Fallout 4 - Rebuild, Renew - • Fallout 4 OST - Rebuil...
The Empty World - Dark Post-Apocalyptic Piano - • The Empty World - Dark...
Epic Post Apocalyptic Trailer Music - Dispersion - • Epic Post Apocalyptic ...
Some assets created by Epic games, others came from Turbosquid.

Just doing a bit of moderation here as I understand we all have bad days. That aside, thanks for the feedback and I agree with your assessment. I suppose I just wanted to put most emphasis on the railway and most the time railroads in urban areas are quite flat. I do wish I had better assets or railroads to make something more creative. Regardless, thanks and thank you for your channel which has helped me in the past.

Aside from the train's relative position, I'm blown away whenever I see these scenes created. The fly-by camera at the end of the video could've been really cool for a video game; maybe have it face away from the city ruins until right at the end, slowing down and turning about to witness the ruins of humanity, the music going quiet aside from the sound of nature, whereupon the main-menu interface fades in with a title card for a post-apocalypse game, bravo!

This makes me want to try this out myself... The music is very peaceful and evocative; the scenery is stunning, watching this really involved me. I have a suggestion for an idea, a small thing: try, on this video or on another one, to make the presentation of the completed scenery end with a black screen without a fed out when the last note of the piano plays (at the very end, before the suggested videos). Could be very dramatic, just a small detail. Just an idea to improve a very little :)

I love your fantastic work. I always find Old unused train tracks mesmerizing to look at. And this scene here does it so beautifully. Now I know you mentioned that there were so much things you could do. But I could not help but notice that the shadows over water under the ruined bridge needs work. It just looks off considering how realistic the rest of the scenes look. Otherwise, just brilliant! Keep it up. Or considering the age of this video, I'm sure you already have.

Really impressive and inspirational. I got two questions : Are all the things you placed (grass, trees, road, destroyed roads, trains, ...) included in the software ? Or did you have to purchase them ? And secondly, is it hard to render ? How much time did it take ? Keep it up !

And another video one to watch to see these megascan items even more easily is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKvSimNsZ9CMZ9U ...apparently, if you an UnReal user, you can soon get Quixel's whole library free ....I think.. Please post a reply here if you find the trees first... thxs.

Surprised nobody actually asked me this. A nuclear blast. Only strong enough to push it off the tracks and throw it into the ground. It was a last minute decision. My intention was to keep it on the tracks but I wanted everyone to see the environment past the train so I took it off. It looked a little funny but I justified it in my mind by a blast. I could planned things out a bit better. I badly want to remake this scene. So much I could have done better.

it's harder than you think. Of course you can just play assets and meshes in the world, but to make a world like that, where everything fits, where everything looks realistic etc, i mean, that it looks right AND real, that's harder than you think

I'm too deep into this whole ''game design lifestyle'' as intimidating as it can be at times, I can't imagine giving up. Just the thought itself is scary. The best of luck and success to everyone who is hungry and serious about being in the business.

Just a small peeve of mine: the train fell over but does not look like a natural derailment. If it fell from the right, its undercarriage (wheels) should be facing the tracks. If the train derailed and rolled over twice, the train should look further away from the tracks. The is nothing that gives the story or signs of how this trail derailed appropriately. Some gamers and designers look for these things.
@JacobHollis96
@JacobHollis96 6 жыл бұрын
redcat608 It's bothering me as well. I just see it as the train was traveling faster than it should have through the curve. Upon doing so it jumps the tracks and lands in the way it's depicted in the scene.

+Sickening Skittles this scene? no way. it was done much quicker than that. i doubt it took two hours. but that's because he already had all the assets ready beforehand.
@aboody006
@aboody006 8 жыл бұрын
+GraveUypo True, This scene isn't heavily populated with assets, It could've been done in an hour or so. There's not much detail that went into this. He used the brushes to scatter the vegetation around, and added water. A bunch of buildings and that's it.

Dont feel horrible, be inspired :) Strive for greater things. I always look at better artist and think "Hm what can I do to become as good as this guy" Key is ,don't pick somebody 9000 levels above you ,pick somebody close, and move your way up.
