I worked for MAYTAG in 93 in NYC directly Their LAT series at least had water their 24/25 belts lasted 15 years ( pump and trans) Even if the pump sucked a sock in, needle nose would do the trick Such far superior products in every category compared to todays junk If you’ve never done a potato pulley on a washer ( frigidaire) then you’ll never appreciate how our appliances were manufactured thanks for making the video. Thanks for the detailed review. Just note that this washer can ONLY use cold water for the rinse cycle. The temperature selector is only for the temperature of the water used in the WASH cycle, not the RINSE cycle. The Speed Queen TR7 is the only Speed Queen washer that allows the user to select warm water for the rinse. And only one other top-loading washer (a Samsung) can use warm water for the RINSE cycle.

Got this exact model in October 2023. The dealer exchanged an Amana for this commercial unit. I was so excited and it did not disappoint. Loved everything about this unit. This was an incredible washer and did not mind paying the high price. The only complaint I had was the water levels indicated on the inside the lid, I was not getting the levels especially the Deep Fill and High Level. I hooked a meter to the water inlet and did get the gallons indicated in the owners manual for the water levels. I really wish I got the high level indicated as it show but it just barely covers the lower fin on the top agitator. Now the sad news. Three months later I had to make a service call. It still washes well, but a lot of other problems have started. Very disappointed considering it is suppose to be "commercial". I will follow up once the repair company takes a look. @@sarahschulze9923 Repair has not called or shown up yet. Where I live was pretty well shut down for a few weeks with major snowstorm in February, so I'll call them again this week. Three inches short on the deep fill seems normal on this machine but not according to the color images on the inside of the lid. My main problems are it starts to fill after the wash cycle has completed it's cycle, drain and spin cycle fills AFTER the cycle is done, and randomly it will turn off right away when the "start" button is pushed and will go to an eco cycle wash even though I have it set to another cycle. You MUST make sure that the first light that comes on is the "power" light. If any other light comes on first, you will have a problem cycle.

I have the previous generation Maytag Commercial MVWP575GW that is likely what you have. I rigged mine up so I could open the lid while it was going through its cycle and noticed that even on the high water wash, the water level was lower than I thought it should be. Have planned to look inside to see if I could find the water level sensor and move it up, but for now... If I have a large load, after the tub fills up, I dump an extra 2.5 gallons of water in. Normal procedure for nasty garage clothes is 3 servings of powdered Tide, Power Wash cycle, Hot Water, Presoak and extra rinse... and dump in an extra 2.5 gallons of hot water after the machine finishes filling with water. Have had the machine for several years, and it's never given me a single issue, and even gets grunge clothes surprisingly clean! For best results, don't stuff it completely full unless you're adding more water. My guess, is that Maytag has to meet water use requirements, so they keep the fill level low. Here, our water reservoir is massive and the water bill is cheap.

Drew, do they come in any other colors? Everything today is just white only it seems. My Maytag from 1983 is Almond colored and it still works perfect so I don't need a new one but I was looking at maybe changing the clothes dryer but it is Almond too and I don't want white. Can you do videos on the dryer equivalents to these Maytag, Speed Queen, GE old school products? I am looking for Electric with right side discharge, I would like Harvest Gold or Avocado, but I think that is going to be impossible. Now how could I paint a new Dryer Almond? What paint would I use? I would buy a complete new set if Maytag or Speed Queen came in Harvest Gold or yellow but until that happens, I will just stick with my old Almond Maytag which still looks like new. That Maytag looks to work beautifully, and the rollover is wonderful. Pretty good for a new age machine. I'm somewhat sure, but not totally, would I be able to add more agitation time like you can with a mechanical timer? You know that sometimes you just feel that you want a longer agitation added for that extra clean feeling.

i have a silly question. i received the MVWP586GW washer. I noticed a thin clear film started to bubble up on the black control panel, but somehow it did not look like this clear plastic film was supposed to come off. The service technician said it was meant to be removed, leaving a matte (not shiny) finish to the steel control panel with no protection of the painted steel. Is he right? The film had holes for the knobs and screws which makes me think it wasn't meant to be removed.

Hey David! So the box stores sell an identical looking MVWP576 model that is just a 1-year warranty model. The 586 is an independent retail exclusive that Home Depot and Lowe's do not have access to sell. You're probably looking at the 576 if it's on Home Depot's site. I can't say it's my favorite, as the TC5 is obviously a great unit. I haven't done the full review of the GTW525 yet, but I love that washer as well. My dad has that unit in 3 rental homes and has had no issues on either for 3 years so far. I think if you're looking for commercial quality that doesn't cost over $1,300 like the TC5, the MVWP586 is the choice for me. I just like the dual-action agitator

I was told by the Maytag service to use fabric softener as it will keep the pressure tube sensor from getting clogged. I was getting low water levels even on the highest setting and was told the detergent bubbles were clogging it. Does this make sense? Do you have a better solution?

If anything is going to clog your machine, it's fabric softener, especially if you don't use an extra rinse. Bad detergents like Tide and Gain can, too, but fabric softener can be a culprit for clogging drain pumps. Not sure why Maytag service would say that.

Are you sure you didn't mishear him say NOT to use fabric softener because it could clog the pipes? That would make more sense. Fabric softener, or even too much detergent, is very cloggy.

No, this isn’t the design of the machine. The water level switch is kind of useless low water is barely above. The blades medium is a little bit more and high water level is what medium used to be on the older machines using fabric softener has absolutely nothing to do with the water level that’s been preset from the factory. If you’re interested in more, there are videos of this machine by “Agiflow” on this machine and many of his others. He has made many videos on the issues with this washer .

So I have a question. I have a speed Queen tr7 and well most of us know that that model doesn't really clean well. It was even in consumer reports so I'm looking into getting a new washer dryer. How well would this Maytag handle a comforter say king size? Because I have a king size bed, my speed Queen can handle it pretty well but then again the TR7 is less aggressive on its washing capability. So I wanted to ask how well would that Maytag handle say a king size comforter

I have the first generation of this washer MVWP575GW it’s a great machine. It doesn’t have near the options as the new generation but the agitation is awesome and it doesn’t take 2 hours to wash a load and the clothes are clean plus it has a 5 year warranty if ordered directly from Maytag. Big box stores do not sell the actual Maytag Commercial Washer. It must be ordered through Maytag directly and compare the model numbers to make sure it’s the true Commercial Washer. I have the same first generation one you do, shipped from Desgner's Appliance in New York to Southern California. It came with a 10-year warranty, the last 5 on the motor only, with no labor. The tub is suspended on struts, and after it flooded the floor wuth brown water, the technician said the brown stain was transmission fluid and could not guarantee that new struts for $450 would solve the leaking problem, and if it did it would only be temporary. There is no way to add more transmission fluid. He explained suspending the tub was required after 2007 (iirc) because some had been injured when moving machines with tubs bolted to the floor. So that's who we have to thank for water going all over the floor through these cheap rods/struts. Rather than throw good money away, I just ordered a Speed Queen TC5.

It always rinses in cold. Note that "warm" cycle will start with cold, then hot, then cold, then hot. It doesn't fill constant "warm".

what no one is mentioning is that speed Queen is the only washer that has straight hot when it's not on normal. All the other junk machines you can't get a straight hot load,also speed queen has a reliable belt you can change whirlpool has plastic gears that you have to fuss with when they go out

This is why I chose a speed queen front loader. On the whites cycle it will give you a true hot water wash. I don’t care about saving when I’m doing laundry. Sheets, towels, & cleaning rags/mops. Always a HOT wash.

Of the four Speed Queen top loading models, only the TR7 has an option to RINSE in warm water. All other Speed Queens, and all other brands except one Samsung top loader, ONLY use cold water for the rinse cycle. But the TR7 uses the weaker "Perfect Wash", which only moves water through clothes. The TC5 uses the more aggressive (and better cleaning) "Classic Wash", where the agitator that moves clothes through the water. And the TC5 lets you fill up 100% of the tub with water, not just 75% max on the TR models. Again, more water means more detergent dissolving, more water to carry dirt and soap scum away, more water to clean your clothes.

If money is no object, then I’d probably go with the TC5. Both are great machines though. Just make sure wherever you buy from, the store has their own service department and can do their own warranty work. Talking to the manufacturers if there’s an issue can be a pain so it’s best to have the support of a local business who can do that type of thing on your behalf.

The Maytag has a nice wash action for a modern machine, but the components are subpar. Nylon is used all throughout the gearing system and is prone to stripping (look at reviews and teardown to see). The suspension, or lack thereof, also sucks. The TC5 is the way to go, but that's machine's mechanical pump, while durable, is known to cause foaming in the final spin for all but the most moderate amount of soap use. Draining into a sink is ideal for that machine. Unfortunately, the best classic-action machine you can buy is a reconditioned 70-90 series Kenmore/Whirlpool.

The parts you're referring to in the Maytag are true for the entry-level, non-commercial-grade units, especially their suspensions. The suspension, bracing, and galvanized casing on this MVWP586 is not nearly the same as the lower-level units, plus it has a snubber if it gets out of balance. The TC5 suspension system is also great though. As far as the nylon gears, these are much more durable that the plastic gears you are referring to that are in most lower-level machines. The parts in this commercial-grade unit are much different than the MVW5035 or 7230 machines, for example.

this machine has a 1 1/2 HP motor, not 1/2....I've had this machine for 5 years and it has performed flawlessly and quickly. None of the long pauses and sensing nonsense of other top loaders. Quickly goes from one cycle to the next completing the job in 30-35 minutes with truly clean clothing coming out every time. Agitator is not rough on clothing. Buy one while you can before the powers that be say "no more"!! Cheers

I had the previous version of this commercial Maytag and after 2 years of multiple service visits/repairs, Maytag finally replaced it with this new model. This model is making me crazy... when set on deep water, it randomly fills with only 3-4 inches of water. There seems to be no rhyme or reason, it just does what it wants. I don't have time to stand there for every load and make sure it fills correctly. When it doesn't, I have to cancel the load, which means more time and loss of more detergent :( I'm calling Maytag tomorrow!

Make sure you never push the "start" button if only the "soak/wash" light is on. If you see just that particular light on, shut it down by pressing the start button down for 3 seconds until you see it turn off. I had the same problem and I always make sure no lights are on before I select any cycle. Maybe this will help. Maybe not. But after 3 months, I have way more problems that I didn't have for the last 3 months. Truly believe "commercial" is false advertising.

Time can be a more precious resource than power or water. The shorter cycles are like what I was used to in older machines. No STUPID pauses or abnormally long fill cycles. YOU DON’T GET WASTED TIME BACK! So many new washers and dishwashers waste too much time.

It has a sealed transmission with plastic internals. The price difference in that part alone compared to an all metal serviceable transmission you can buy a speed queen. My first appliance repair was a failed transmission. Very hard to diagnose for a beginner who didn’t even understand wash cycles, very messy leaving grease everywhere, very costly and the actual repair is about as extensive as can be except for maybe replacing the tub. I’d buy a front loader or a top loader with a fake agitator like the tr5 before I ever buy another washer with a sealed plastic transmission again. That’s not a commercial grade part so it sickens me to see GE and Maytag “commercial washers” with sealed transmissions that have plastic internals. Perhaps you can do a tear down of that trans and prove me wrong.

This video just advertising and this washer just junk. Stay away from this one! I got MVWP575GW and 2.5 years of 5 years warranty was heaven, but the rest 2.5 years was hell. Many times serviced, 1st - at Covid, 2 months I was waiting for the part, OMG! Replaced mainboard, actuator, agitator, Washer Basket Drive Hub, transmission may be something else, just don't remember. Now it's broken again and I hate it with whole my soul! Looking for Speed Queen, why I didn't bought it for the first time, why I got Maytag because "it's the same quality but cheaper"? (not the same). Don't repeat my mistake, stay away from Maytag "commercial" washer because it's total pain in the ass, not real commercial unit, bad transmission - even axle rusty, hard to put on plastic Washer Basket Drive Hub.

Same here. I bought the MVWP575GW in 2018 after ordering, then immediately canceling, the Speed Queen after seeing warnings the new SQ was crap. Liked it at first, though it was inferior in all respects to the amazing Maytag A216 (?) the best washer ever made, that lasted over 30 years. The Maytag Commercial required a repair last year, just turned 6 and dumped brown water all over the laundry floor. The technician said the brown was transmission fluid, and he couldn't guarantee that new struts for $450 would solve the problem. So I just ordered a new Speed Queen TC5. And btw the above Maytag he claims is superior has only 3 star average customer review at Home Depot.
