As someone who has knowledge as a corpus linguist, I would recommend something a bit different: Why not select a relatively common word (maybe one of the top 500 headwords), and then explosively tense and relax upon hearing them during a show? My concern with commercials on television is their repetitive nature, so it becomes easy to predict when the commercial is going to transition. Words, especially in dialogue, are harder to predict, so it will likely demand more alertness when performing this exercise. I could provide a handy headword list for anyone who's interested. The formula that decides such a list is pretty simple.

That’s a good idea! I’m not sure if it would technically work as well if we assumed all commercials were different in a given span of a show though, considering you aren’t paying attention to the visual information (which is the key part in reaction time.) I’m sure it would translate over from auditory information I just don’t know if it would be as well

People always commend and envy me for my flawless reaction time(fighting and gaming) Came here to further improve my reaction time to continue receiving approbation for my skills. Contrary to popular belief( popular in the comment section) I’ve increased my reaction time BY playing video games. I’m not sure why people come here to get help to improve their reaction time for video games if it’s the video games that increase reaction time... My only advice will be to continue playing video games, and your reaction time should grow tremendously. You’ll have to play games that require reaction time though. :ie Call of duty( best option) OSU!, or even overwatch
@VincentGilbert-pc7rx6 жыл бұрын
Yakuma Neko osu definitely best option
@kiranpabraham79042 жыл бұрын
The general problem with improving based on gaming is that only your neural connection to you fingers and brain and eye improve. The rest of the body will still be a little slower. For full body reaction time to be fast, you should train your whole body. You eye might catch it quick because of video games, but the whole body won't

Question for you: I just started thai boxing and am having a hard time overcoming what I can best describe as being nervous. My instructor gives us a 3 strike combo and my form gets lost trying to think through the routine, it just feels like my brain is over stimulating my body. I tried bouncing a tennis ball against a wall per your other video which helped a lot but I'm still having problems. Any suggestions?

BTW: I'm trying this videos routine now for a few days. Keep up the good work!

+motoliterider Congratulations on getting started with Thai Boxing. What you are experiencing is normal when something is new. There are 3 basic stages of learning (www.humankinetics.com/excerpts/excerpts/learning-process-when-acquiring-motor-skills-similar-for-all-individuals) getting through the stages takes time and reputation. Cognitive: 1 - 1,000 Reps to Associative: 1,000 - 10,000 Reps to Autonomous: 100,000 - 300,000 Reps

@Brandon-ci4hf7 жыл бұрын
Fizzy train harder it is best to work on posture and footwork
@barrymead33587 жыл бұрын
Because you can find a 10 year old child training since 5 can get a black belt, you can follow all the system and pass the grade, but in a fast real fight, lose. Why? Because sparring is restricted, you need to constantly practice in semi contact. However, for real gains in fighting reactions you need to be doing a number of things. Release your own fear. If you fear to strike, preferring to wait until attack is assured, then you need to rid yourself of this, do so by a arm near full extended and when that space is broached, a single step back and arm out-Accompany with a warning that makes clear if they keep invading your space, it will result in attack. In sparring this is not necessary, merely as soon as they touch your outstretched hand. Then second you need to be able to react fast, forget your perceiving the incoming strike, what happens is, the last stage here, ie your counter/block and in a fight, all blocks should be a attack anyway, but translation of the incoming attack, trying to decipher what move to use-This comes from practice, what you need to train extra hard on is speed up your counter, this can be done by working tendon training -Isometrics, doing punches and kicks with weights attached, practicing in a swimming pool. Having a time limit to knock objects off different places, resitance band punching and kicking The result of this and other training like the tennis ball etc, will mean you can actually move your body faster. Then start focussing on trying to assimilate imnformation fast, learn speed reading, practice memory square games but timed, practice just blocking attacks from 2 opponents, play games that demand speed. Play videos on 1,5 speed and try to spot objects requested by someone who already watched it. Do anything that can be speeded up (safely) at a faster rate. Try pictures that are altered after seeing the original and you have ten seconds to identify the changes or as many as you can. This is NOT an overnight thing, it needs as much as physically can be trained to BE trained, as often as possible. This way you slowly develop to a point where you can see and hear things as fast as is physically possible,there are computer games that will aid reaction times, and many exercises. So your brain gets used to information assimilation and comprehension fast, then spurs into action fast, and your body has the speed to react. In the field of martial arts, you may never be fast enough to detect all strikes but if you practice often, you will find you see all the indicators sooner than you did before. By practicing against multiple opponents regularly, you'll be used to defending harder and faster, and as you start to hold your own, you swap in two fresh opponents, so even tired you then have to defend against not just two opponents still needing you to be faster, but two fresh and faster if it were 1 v 1. When you do come 1 v 1 in sparring or real life, you will suddenly feel that you have more time and space to react. If you incorporated the study of tells, a shoulder move, a move of the eyes to target, mannerisms, intake of breath etc, you will find that in a non armed fight, you will be faster than any opponent

shashi kant wtf are you gonna do with decreasing your reaction time? The only way to build up muscle memory is by continuously practicing the same thing until you get used to it without having to think about doing that certain thing. For example, playing games on a console: you remember the controls from continuously playing and memorizing the buttons so it becomes natural to you.
