I really think keeping the black wheels makes for a much better look. If you really want to add more colour, I would go for something completely different, no colour which is already on the bike. But then maybe you should do not only the rhims, but also other parts of the bike. And maybe have the Union Jack painted on the tank in that very same shade of colour, whichever you choose. Sure that will be much more expensive, but IMO you then went the whole nine yards.

If it were mine, I'd be wanting the wheels powder coated - not painted. So add new wheel bearings to the cost. Then I would be losing that gold chain because it would look crass against the bronze - more cost. The bike is fine as it is. Take the 500 and enjoy yourself :)

Sorry Rocketman but you're wrong about the XSR900, Z900RS SE or V100 Mandello. In the same way that the leather of your shoes, belt and wrist watch strap don't need to match perfectly the same is true for the color of wheels, forks and other parts of a motorcycle. In fact it is impossible to match since textures, alloys, paints and painting methods vary between parts. Matching perfectly leather of shoes, belt and watch comes across as trying too hard. You want a cohesive look and the XSR900, Z900RS SE and V100 Mandello are 3 examples of a great cohesive painting scheme.

Yes, your decision after a lot of analysis, to me, has been the right one. Please, take in consideration that the colors like, gray, dark grey, Matt grey, Silver, bronze, brown, light brown, etc, are neutral colors that go along with more bold colors, open colors, giving a visual effect of movement when applied in alternation in a regular sequence with the more lively color which is the dominant one, in the object. They are as well called, transition colors, or rhythm colors. So, often their presence with the described function and nature, really work, and look good. The conflict emerges, when we try using more than one transition tone, or color in between the dominant one (and the latter should be only one color, too - as it is the case). It looks immediately weird and unattractive, confusing. That’s why the bronze rims were hurting the blue new paint job, they were getting a relevance and a central place in the whole aesthetic arrangement. Result, that was not wanted by the bike`s owner. I give you one example of a paint job, not too well thought by Triumph (in my humble opinion): - The 2022 thruxton ton up Club Edition. Look at the profusion of too much color elements, the open blue, its ok, but does it goes well with the white mud guard at the front and in black at the rear, under a white seat cowl? (which has what seems to be a sticker, if it isn’t a sticker, looks like it, in red, and the lettering “100” in black inside ? - allusive to the tourist trophy of the Isle of Man when this machine achieved the milestone, running to average speeds at the firs lap of 100mph) too messy, too “look at me! I have a special Edition Bike!”. The bike has an old racing style, a bonneville by Built, design and by technical characteristics. Does it need all that profusion of colors on it? That bike, is a keeper, not only for people on their Eighteens, I believe. It will look well on the race track. I don’t discuss that. But, where else? Cheers 😎✌️✌️

in my view , the tank looks great , its also dark enough without adding more black in the form of knee pads ,, if the paint job is good then allow it to fully harden and protect with a top end polish . as for the ohlins = the average rider would not get the best from these . the mistake people make is to bolt on these high end bits and know nothing about them ;;; buying and fitting is just the start ,= the shocks would have to be set up to your riding style to get any benefit at all , = then as you progress reset or re built to suit . waste of money unless your the best track day rider out there .... bike looks smart ..

Gold or bronze wheels would have been pretty cool. You already put two carbon covers but there was no other carbon parts from factory... It looks weird to me.So, why not only two wheels with their own color. The problem of the speed twin is this full black motor. This is so monotone. And sticking with black wheels doesn't help at all. Unless you like full black style and I can't critisize. That's why I prefer the motor of the thruxton with these nice shiny parts while keeping some black parts... Another option would be to put thruxton spoke wheels on the speed twin. This is really cool. Also the paint job on your tank not finished. It's obvious seeing the side where the side covers should be that a good polishing is needed. That orange peel effect is very disturbing...

Well, I just have to go against what seems to be the majority opinion because I absolutely hate black wheels with a passion. Black wheels on bikes or cars do nothing for the looks of the bike/cars and just make the wheels and tyres look like an amorphous blob. I, not long a go bought a Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX in the 2020 colour of white and black as opposed to the ubiquitous green. I had not even ridden it on the road when I removed the wheels, discs and bearings and had them powder coated a very subtle silver with a hint of gold at a powder coating specialist renowned for doing great work, Cost was £230. The bike, in my eyes obviously, looks so much better and does not have what I call the "heavy" look of black wheels and tyres. To my way of thinking, the cost is small beer to what some people spend on fancy exhaust systems and downpipes. As luck would have it, mine came with the factory fit Akropovic carbon can which does look better than the standard "rocket launcher" Black wheels are shit!
